couple of other good tips for new players. When you spawn in at the coast you always spawn pointing North, so this will help figure out where you might be on the map (if the sea is behind you you're on the south coast, if the sea is on your right you're on the east coast). Also if you find 1 small stone and can't find a second one, you can craft a stone knife by holding the stone in your hand and approach a big stone/boulder and you will get the option to craft a stone knife :)

I’ve played for awhile but never realized the direction tip I usually use the sun and stars or electric poles and railways
I always tell my friends who are playing for the first time to not get discouraged. The more you die, the more you learn and once you get the hang of it, it’s extremely addicting.

I was wondering how long until someone uploaded a good beginner's guide to console DayZ. I watched on UA-cam & Twitch for years & purchased this game on PS5 same day it was released. Game was out since 2019 but I heard PS4 wasn't good at all to run the game. Glad I waited as my other PS5 friends can see almost as far as I can. I have a compatible Sony TV with amazing tech, so I spot easier but my teammates are great at PvP. Glad you uploaed this as we need more nice players to join this game. It's full of nasty ppl who KOS freshies or wiggling randoms. Hope anyone who watches this stays with it & has a positive impact on fresh spawns you meet.
I got it for Xbox when it was released back in August 2018 after having played on my pc. I’m a console gamer at heart & couldn’t wait for it to be released. It wasn’t great on an Xbox one but was so thankful it was on the platform. There’s no other game like it, when I got my series x the difference was night & day & that’s without a proper next gen uprgrade. Would be nice to have that one day.

Great little starter guide. Don't forget you can melee with your weapon in hand. So when in cqb and you need to back a player off of you so you have room to aim and fire.

As good as the app is for the map I would advise as a new player to stay around majority of the spawn area locations as long as you want, learn the areas as much as you can. As the next time you die you can become familiar where you are and even at some point you won’t need the app as much (use it as much as possible). Even veterans, streamers tend to use the app, unless they’re in a modded server with a map, it’s just very handy in any occasion as there are lots of areas to explore and especially if you wanna know where water sources are as well as easy gun places, which is why vets and streamers love the app, it benefits everyone. Don’t be worried if all your finding is fresh spawns to kill, as this will help you understand the combat system because the further up you go on the map the more intense fights become and some can last for 30 seconds to 30 minutes as this is a patient game, playing aggressive can be good but never advised as you don’t wanna spend 4 hours looting and the first combat you see you rush straight down only to be shot immediately.
Depending on your play style if you wanna team up, then have push to talk on your mic (unless you love hitting mute on your mic every time). Always remember this rule if you say hello and get no response in at least 7 seconds they either don’t have a mic, or most likely don’t speak English. Usually if they don’t answer they’ll usually try and kill you. Be careful with no mic players, but even trusting one with a mic can also be dangerous as I learnt this the hard way. Always keep your eye on your new partner, they can seem the friendliest player and you can go on for hours together, but that can be a trap and they’ll kill you once you’ve been helping them get to better loots.
The game is unforgiving and rewarding, you can make your own story with it.
If you’re looking for base building combats like you see on UA-cam and on console it’s rare but may still find a community server that does this.
Edit: just a few more tips, use google as much as you can with items especially medicine as the descriptions aren’t always helpful. Same with any item really, you’ll get a better knowledge on what can be helpful for you on your journey/story.
Never stand still, if you didn’t know when you open your inventory you can you can move slightly this can save your life from a bush sniper.
Again with players if you hear someone giggle (as in there character) they’re a cannibal and most likely aren’t to be trusted. I’ve met some friendly ones but never tag along with them as you could be there next meal. Unless you plan on being one yourself. And if you happen to tag along with them just watch them very closely as they’ll most likely will kill you or most cases wait for you to get in to combat and wait till your killed or if your injured they’ll finish the job. Any other time if they’re friendly too talk too just say hello and tell um to go your separate ways but always watch your back.
Also with google, if you wanna learn weapons then I would advise looking up what’s worth picking up early. Any gun Is a gun but not all are good and some feel like you’re shooting air at them. Shotguns are mostly your friend early starts as they do have good damage but terrible range (unless you’re using slugs).

I am loving this game. Just started playing a few days ago. Yeah, it is hard for beginners but once you learn how to not get sick, everything else is much easier. I'm more of a fps shooter person anyway (warzone, apex) but this game is something fresh for me. Plus now I've been using the izurvive map so makes it a bit more easier haha. But thats only cause I literally have no idea where to go but pretty soon I'll go back to just using in game maps. Now that I know how to find water, police stations, etc. I'm on console so this will help me a lot more. I love being able to find a house all by itself on a country road and able to make a fire and camp out there for a bit.

@@recedingman I can relate to the "getting shot while fishing" moment. I found a random guy yesterday and he forgot how to make a fire and fish. So In Cherno we were fishing by the ferris wheel while I cooked the fish he got. Well this random sniper shot hits the dirt and then the next one kills me. I never found his body so maybe he got away

Not another dayz is a vanilla ++ server on Livonia. We wanted to have a balance between survival and action, so loot is boosted but not too much. Our server also has a little surprise in the bunker for people to discover, more dangers with more rewards.

Finally, a tutorial for someone who has just started the game. Everyone who makes tutorials for games never make a complete complete beginner's guide. That knows absolutely nothing but you have seem to do it thank you. Now make a video explaining how to play soprancy nineteen fourteen or Conflict of nations. Those games look so much fun. I've tried and tried but I just do not understand how the games work. And nobody makes a complete beginner's guide explaining literally everything cuz I don't know anything

Fora bit more context I’ve been playing over a year and a half and I’m still learning things…
you just need to take a Stone and then take it to a Big rock and you'll get the stone knife...the 2 stone on all the help videos at least on PS4 doesn't work Also get 2 stones so one turn into a knife the other keep as a stone so you can make Chicken or Bone knifes to help make your Metal knifes last longer...and you can use a hammer or meat malt on rocks to make small stones.
Is it just the recording or are frame drops really this constant on console?

Is there any way to make the inventory equip/unequip less sucky? Why can't I just reload a double barrel without going into the inventory, selecting the ammo, and selecting "combine"? I've tried everything I can think of and that's the only way I can figure to reload the double barrel.

@RECEDINGMAN tried that. It made the reload animation, but the gun remained empty. The same thing happened with the .22 pistol with the integrated suppressor.

Try community servers, higher loot makes learning the game better and most community servers has certain things about them also like harder zombies, more wild life, longer or shorter days/nights. I play on Xbox you can add me if you want Lacedpxrp
!!2X is a pretty good server, but if you go on that server and someone asks you if you want a ride to the safe zone at vybor when you're at the beach, run because that server has a few kidnappers

What about voice chat on xbox? Doesn’t seem to work at all not matter what i do. Anything i can do?
You have to hold one of the d-pad buttons and you'll see a indicator on the hud
Is washing your hands with a random bottle ok or will I get sick?
Nah you can wash your hands in undrinkable rivers and be fine so the bottle is ok for sure
And remember no matter where you respond at you will always be facing north

The game is unnecessarily difficult. I couldn’t figure out how to eat or put on warmer clothes. I accidentally threw and lost the one piece of fruit I started with because I didn’t know how to eat it. 😂
Ya the controls are definitely complicated. You have to put food in ur hand then press right trigger to eat. To change clothes, take the old ones off first they press Y to equip while it is highlighted
Its not unnecessarily difficult. It just doesnt babysit you the whole time like modern aaa games. Once you learn the game youll find that official servers are too easy
DayZ always had the potential to be fun, but the KoS that happens 99% of the time kills the fun.

My biggest enemy is the bloody lag. I am, however, playing on an absolute relic of an xbox. It's been bished and bashed that much I'm surprised it even turns on anymore. So anyway, anytime I enter a large city or anywhere really with allot going on, I jitter around so bad it's pointless playing. It's so bad that I'll be running away from z's and my screen will just freeze for 3-4 seconds. Absolutely ENRAGING. Anyway I'm upgrading very soon but until then I'm staying away from DayZ. I do love the game but it's pointless to play with my current console.
You will notice a HUGE difference when you get your hands on a Series S or X matey 👊🏻

How do you equip clothing?
U on ps or Xbox my friend? In some cases it’s just pressing (y) or (triangle) when the item you want your character wearing is highlighted.
Other times u have to hold (y) or (triangle) down on the item u are wearing to drop it. Then press (y) or (triangle) over item u want replacing it. Hope this helps, good luck out there 👍🏻

I remember when I first started this game I was like yamcha but now after 3500 hours of gameplay I'm more comparable to super Saiyan blue Vegeta (I compare to Vegeta because of my attitude toward pvp let's just say I've got a big ego and I have the skill to back it up)
and just to flex I will name off every town in the game without looking at the map

DayZ is primarily a survival game matey, they don’t want you looking at a map. The 3rd party map download is a separate thing 👊🏻
If only they made the game more stable on console. It's a great game otherwise
Definitely matey, up until a year ago the development team were quite small but the team has got bigger so here’s to a more stable and enhanced DayZ on console 👍🏻
