Fantastic demo/comparison! Nobody's lining these for up- and what a great testing format; totally objective and, consistent, love the effort! I own the JD9 and the TS9DX, but often wonder, what, if anything, I'm missing out on with the other two; thank you again, it's like a custom ordered video for me!
I like the TS808 and the JD9 for different reasons. JD9 sounds a little better for transparent drive and TS808 for that thick mid bump. Thanks for the demo. Great job!
JD9? Did not know about that one.. Hey is the TS808 DX a turbo one like the TS-9? Which one do you think has the best tones? Then they got the plain TS-808 and TS-9 with the modifications.. So of all these which one has the Hugest Stevie Ray type perfect bluesy tones?
I had a close look at my Ibanez TS9 Tube Screamer. I never used it, bought it around '94. It's still in the original box (no barcode on box - MB-TS1401, KU) It looks like a Reissue probably between '90-'94 208447 silver label (no CE on label) TA75558P chip resistors coated brown "MAXON" on battery cover 2mm steel cover (pedal on the heavier side)
I have owned the TS9, Tone Lok, TS9DX, and the JD9. The TS9, to me, nothing special. The TS9DX is better due to having more tonal options. If you really like Tube Screamers I would go with the TS9DX hands down. The Tone Loc was better due to the "Turbo" switch. The JD9 was awesome for more raw gain but mine was noisy. Used a noise suppressor and that solved the problem however I prefer OD pedals that are quiet without any help.
if you're gonna run old school style as a booster into your head amp, the ts9 or ts808 is gonna give that tone.. and drive when you max on your git volume pot. without loss of clarity.
Cool! Of course comparing by knob position doesn't mean a lot, different pots and component tolerances can make it hard to A-B, still the point here is you get a good basic idea. I appreciate the TS challenge thanks. I'm thinking of the 9 or the mini, not sure the hype of the 808 can sell me. There's some confirmation bias with the higher price, more famously used etc. But we'll see, all are good pedals.
The ts808 is essential to any board. Get the best clean tone you desire and a ts808. I actually realized I hardly touched my other pedals for its ability to match the clean tone and give it the do I need when I need it using my volume down to 8 on a strat. Raise your amp volume if anything. They aren't expensive, unless you get an older one with the original chip like I have but they are still good. One thing ibanez pulled off properly. MAxxon and Maxxon mods are similar too if you like the tone. Also keep in mind, listening to stuff on the net just gives you the basic idea. Go play one and you'll really hear the difference. The ts9 isn't bad if your on a budget but it's def. worth spending the extra 80 bucks if your buying new.
hi! i am looking for help! what od do you reccomend for an american standard telecaster and a fender super champ xd amp? i want low gain and clarity! thanks!
+Portal Gitarowy thanks! i am thinking that what i really need is a booster. a booster like the tc electronic sparkle. i wanna keep it the most true to my tele sound but a liiiittle excited. u think a booster will do for that?
That JD9 Pedal has a volume/level knob you know? You never used it and that can change the tone of that pedal a lot. You moved the levels around on the other pedals. Not really an inclusive review now is it?
Entirely depends on if and what you're using it with, distortion/drive and or amp type. Don't think the Jet got a fair shake; by all accounts, that's what you want for a Fender(classic mid scoop) or a Vox; Beefy drives or Marshall's def the 808/TS, - if you're looking for tonal balance or variety.Believe that's why they used diff circuits, to accommodate whatever.Good bedrock to work other elements around.
one or the other because they sound exactly the same it's pretty much the same pedal it just depends if you want to pay a premium to have the vintage 808 casing vs the vintage ts9 casing
hi, I'm gonna buy a Deluxe Reverb Fender amp, and the part of the distortion/overdrive is beeing a nightmare and it could make change my idea about the amp. I want to have a pedal wich allows me to play blues, and rock (not heavy or metal). My first option as the best I think is TS808. Any experience about this pedal on this areas? and what do you thin about Maxon pedals?
No experience with Maxon, but for sure TS808 is very good for blues and rock. Also with Deluxe Reverb it should work just fine. Try to borrow TS808 first if you are not sure ;).
This is how a demo should be done! Now I see why the ts808 is more expensive than the rest. The ts9 is a bit fuzzy for my taste and nothing interesting with the dx.
Great demo! TS808 sounds best to me. Gotta get me one of those green bad boys one of these days. I think using an OCD for your main crunch rhythm sound, and then boosting it with a TS808 for leads would be a killer match.
Haha a bit of looping going on. There should be more demos like this. My local guitar shop let me play thru an 808 today with single coils and humbuckers..awesome tone on both and worth the extra coin.
Take a proper cable and conect you computer (or smartphone) to your Eganter amp. Then play this: soundcloud.com/portalgitarowy-1/ibanez-ts808-reamping-ver-play-it-on-your-amp You have other effects listed there - try few! ;)

Thanks! Good to hear! ;)
Its very special how you can switch the pedals and keep on playing the guitar
Respect bro !!
Reamping, man! Creates new possibilites! ;)
+Kevin Steentjes Lol
HAHAHAHAHA are u serious!?
It's a looper
Thanks, very good comparisons. I like the TS808 best here because overall it sounded clearer to me in all the different settings.
+Kyle Sanders Thanks for support! :)
The 808 has the balls! I want now! I love the demo. Great work and super-tasty riffs!
I like the TS808 and the JD9 for different reasons. JD9 sounds a little better for transparent drive and TS808 for that thick mid bump. Thanks for the demo. Great job!
Excellent review. I think you covered everything.
I went with the “DX” before I saw your review. I think I made a good choice.
Thanks!
Me, too!
in the end didnt turn the voluime all the way with the JD9 ...... i think the jd9 its most versatile of them all ......
JD-9
I like the TS9 in this demo over all of the others

Depends on what do you want to play! :)

+Sebastian Federman You could also try the JHS Prestige or the Xotic EP.
+James Haire thanks a lot!

no mam ts 9dx . duża paleta barw. a te jd9 to raczej distortion niż overdrive.

completely comparison
Hello, is the same sound character between Ibanez jd9 and Ibanez ts9?

Love the SWEET ASS riff starting @ 1:25!!!!!

Excelente pedal suena maravilloso el jet driver mi preferido
i have to get the jd9 now (i have all the others :)
Great demo! TS808 sounds best to me. Gotta get me one of those green bad boys one of these days. I think using an OCD for your main crunch rhythm sound, and then boosting it with a TS808 for leads would be a killer match.
Why did you ignore the volume knob on the JD-9, and keep it at 10 o'clock?
I have one of jd9 it is too loud if crank the volume up
I also have one that is very loud.
the compressor is too tight is hard to hear the originality
Haha a bit of looping going on. There should be more demos like this. My local guitar shop let me play thru an 808 today with single coils and humbuckers..awesome tone on both and worth the extra coin.
I felt the 808 & TS9 were quite similar where the other two were muffled sounding.
they sound exactly the same
@@jfar3340 maybe to your ears but there is a subtle difference.
@@zombiemosher1139 you're right I mean ts9 and ts808 sound the same (they re the same pedal pretty much)
@@jfar3340 I'll have another listen again, its been a while since I watched it.
Are you guys deaf? I have a ts. I can hear the difference.
What's the best with an egnater rebel 20
Take a proper cable and conect you computer (or smartphone) to your Eganter amp. Then play this: soundcloud.com/portalgitarowy-1/ibanez-ts808-reamping-ver-play-it-on-your-amp

damn, he got 3 fucking hands
ts9 sin duda suena mejor para mi ..
Can I just have them all?
Jd9 all the way..that fat drive dammnn good
jet all the way.
JD9 is automatically the best because you can clearly see when it’s on.
thanks! good job! I like DX.
Ts9 in + mode for me thanks..
Winner is the TubeScreamer Mini! No, the TubeScreamer Soundtank!
Is it just me or the ts9, ts9dx and JD are sucking the life/the tone of the guitar? TS808 ftw! Gotta grab a ts808 before the world ends!
the only ones i liked was the ts-9 and the ts-808, other two were kinda shitty.
The secret any pedal sound good is simple.. learn how to set a good clean chanel..
Winner is Boss DS-1
Drums and Guitars 😂 I have the JD and the Boss DS-1 kinda hard to pick the one I like the most
Reamping???
of course ;)
VAMOS a dejarnos de joder,,si no lo enfocan no sabemos cual es cual,,hay varios videos ahora con eso,,,mmsi no los enfocan y tenes que adivinar,,no se da cuentaaa nadie
jd9
That is not how you use a screamer.
TS808
aghh I don't know decisions
808

no chociaż nie:-)
Tube screamers are very amp dependent, without telling us which amp you're running through it doesn't tell us much.
+Thom Vogan You can easily read it below the film: Marshall VS65R :)
