Tchaikovsky was pure genius in the way he set up the instruments for this piece. It sounds exactly how falling snow looks!
Yes he really was!
Love Tchaikovsky!

every piece he did
is no one going to talk about the orchestra? They literally held this whole production together. One mess up and the whole thing would’ve fallen apart. MASSIVE respect to them-
The music is so flawless I thought it was a recording at first.
I mean… let’s be honest, the orchestra always holds every production together! Lol. Without music it would be a very silent show
It's no smoke on the water though
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏💙
that’s literally always the case though. the orchestra is FLAWLESS and full of incredibly hard working talented musicians how crest the character and body of the whole ballet.
I was a snowflake when I was 13, and three days before opening night, I fell and got a pinched nerve in my lower back. I was too afraid to tell anyone that I was hurt, so I just continued with rehearsals and the shows. It was probably the most painful experience I’ve been through in my life so far.
That is true endurance. But you should have told them... ow!
Btw did you recover?
omg i can only imagine i pinched a nerve in my back it is sooooo bad! and the pain still comes back every month or so.
You are one dedicated and strong young lady!!
@@lapaula_fj_ I never quite recovered. For the first few weeks, it was terribly painful and made it very difficult to walk. The pain lessened over the course of a few months until it was completely gone. But it’s been over four years now, and the pain still comes back for a few days every couple of months. It doesn’t hurt nearly as much as it did when I first got it though. And I really should have told someone, but I was absolutely terrified. Two weeks before opening night, I overheard my ballet teacher talking to someone about how one of the girls had broken their foot and couldn’t perform. My teacher was absolutely furious and said, “how could she injure herself so close to the show? This is such short notice to find her a replacement.” I was scared for how she and my other teachers would react, but I was also a little afraid that if I told them, they would take me out of the show. I had worked so hard for months, and it was really emotionally deteriorating for me. I didn’t want it all to be for nothing.
@@kendragoode4328 Thank you very much!
kudos to them for not tripping in the snow. i was in my city's production and the soloist who played queen of snowflakes fell HARD. it's dangerous out there. and this choreography is cardio heavy too.
i was wondering how they didnt slip. wow
And pointe shoes are also kinda slippery
a lot of times dancers will use rosin which helps them not slip on stage
so many dangers this snow on stage presents!!! they could slip up yes, but also when it snows they could inhale it accidentally and choke or have it land in their eye and completely throw off their whole performance.
I was wondering how they were slipping as well.
I want to be a snowflake, there is something magical about watching it, I want to be part of it.
Rachel Clapshaw part of your worlddd
Me too!
Rachel Clapshaw it’s so hard oh my god,,, like you want to be in it until you’re actually in it 😂
There really is and I also just love the music it’s just a music that is so beautiful it’s impossible not to love it
i have such a love hate relationship with this dance. the music is just so enchanting and i love the choreography that my studio performs and i love watching others perform it. but it's so damn exhausting and it makes u and ur feet die. i remember performing it during december and i almost cried towards the end, there was so much pain in my feet. of course i just smiled and continued dancing.
This is the exact moment when everything is pure perfection. Music, orchestra, costumes, choreography. This is my favourite choreography of the Waltz of the Snowflakes. It is literally like real snowflakes dancing in the winter. I like even the Bolshoi less.
I've watched it for so many times, and it almost always makes me cry about its perfect beauty.
Thank you so very much for sharing.
wow, you summed up everything perfectly.
imagine someone getting a voice-crack during the "oooh"
Nicole Crawford As someone in Chorus who just had a concert, this is all too real-
Well fortunatly its not the girls dancing singing it, its problably prerecorded, but even if it wasnt when singing correctly you really should t be getting voicecracks. Of course it happends but this seems to be a highstandard preformance sooo...
@@Izzy-ec4qq girl no it's not pre-recorded they have a live choir and a live orchestra. it's literally impossible to sing nicely while doing such high energy movements.
@@kiwisoup1863 well im still pretty sure its not the dancers singing?
@@Izzy-ec4qq I'm also pretty fuckin sure it's not the dancers singing hahahaha - personally I have never heard of a dancer who said she had to sing during a tchaikovsky ballet haha - I think the singing this piece is either pre-recorded, on a setting on some sort of keyboard OR they have a live choir in the orchestra pit or a combination of these options! I've just read online that the English National Ballet have a live childrens choir that joins them for a few performances
boys bathroom:screaming
me and the girls in the bathroom:
Tabac yanis me and my girls in the bathroom: throwing the soap to eachother, standing on the toilets, and doing roll overs on the iron rod above the toilet door
In our bathroom we are not quiet
@@le_gouvernement_ouzbek "I" is grammatically incorrect. You wouldn't say "I in the girl's bathroom." "The girls and me" follows polite order, but "Me and the girls/boys" is a meme format that's used frequently online.
I'm so happy to be able to perform as a snowflake this year!
m&m Omg really?! That is sooooooo cool!!! Congratulations, I wish I could dance and be a snowflake😭
@@horselover1992 why don't you start dancing? It's never too late
Aww your so lucky!!
Congrats!! I’m 14 so I have three more years to go until I’m at the level of a snowflake, but I was a party girl this year :)
Congratulations!
Waltz of the Snowflakes is one of my absolute favorites in the Nutcracker. The urgency, the joy, the magical ethereal display always makes me feel transported to the forest. The twirling of the dancers, the flitting to and fro in a rush like the flurrying of the first snowfall. A cascade of snow swirling into a dizzying array of white, the storm awakens and when it is done with its dance what is left is the glistening fresh snow in the quiet solitude of the night. Beautifully done! Wonderful performance.
É maravilhoso. Que belo trabalho, não deixem os clássicos morram na memória das pessoas.
Is no one gonna talk about the ending of this movement? I rarely get goosebumps while listening to music, but the ending had me shivers. What an absolute miracle of a musical piece.
The whole Nutcracker Suite music gives me goosebumps everytime. It's a brilliant, masterpiece of music, thanks Tchaikovsky!!!
The Balanchine production (the music, the costumes, the dancing) it all makes me feel as if though I have been taken to a magical place
i cant stop thinking of the barbie movie xD
Same. I use to watch those so much when I was younger. My favorite ones are Nutcracker, 12 Dancing Princess, and Swan lake
I meant princesses not princess
Me too 🤷♀️😁😁😁😁
same
dang you had to have a good childhood then
I keep forgetting that Clara and the Nutcracker are supposed to be young children!
First of all I am an old man of 74 and this takes my breath away, the music is beyond belief and so very beautiful then such spectacular dancing. and finally beautiful women who tingle my sole what an incredible accomplishment. I had to watch it several times and it thrilled me every time My deepest thank for making this available to this old sole. I am from the land of snow, Minnesota USA.
@@DianaMoon11428 i THOUGH i DID I thank the composer and the wonderful choreographer.
Why is it so many great people who contribute so much leave us to soon. I will miss him. His work speaks for it self. @@DianaMoon11428
Awe God bless you
This comment really warmed my heart despite it being a year old. I too, except at 14 share a similar joy as you. God bless you🙏🏽🙏🏽
Чайковский прекрасен, я Вас понимаю! 👏
There's no wonder this staging is my favourite! I love it when the snow grows heavier as the scene progresses, and Tchaikovsky really did know how to paint a picture with the most majestic orchestral textuers, indeed!
Magical favourite! and BRAVO all ❤
Ugh this is so beautiful I was in advanced classes for ballet and was so close to taking a pre pointe class until my parents took me out to focus on school I hope I can go back one day :(
Maressa Vizcaino me too!! But instead of being taken out coz of school it was because my mother’s job schedule didn’t work good with dance classes all the time :(
When I was 6 I took like 2 ballet classes before I decided I didnt like it and dropped out. I was 6 and i feel like my mom should've kept me in for at least half a year. I'm much older now, but my mom refuses to enroll me because I didnt like it when I was 6. I dont think she realizes interests and hobbies can change. But I decided to teach myself from UA-camvideos. I probably never get anywhere, but at least I'm trying.
Maressa Vizcaino your feet are grateful. I’ve had 3 surgeries to repair damage from pointe and need more.
Never too late ! There are adult ballet classes where I live, they even have a pointe class for seniors over 60! Their ankles probably hate them for it though
@@amandastuckey9299 it's still better than eating hamburgers while lying on the couch in front of the TV
I must admit, the Balanchine version, this number and the Waltz of the Flowers, is the finest- I never tire watching them.
ua-cam.com/video/DOPyCWTM5-w/v-deo.html lernen Sie bitte Mal andere Version vom Permer Tschaikowsky-Opernhaus kennen. Meine Meinung nach ist es viel schöner)))
This Nutcracker production is so awesome. The ballet dancers, costumes, stage & the orchestra. I wish I could watch it live.
I love Holidays❄️☃️🤍
Whenever I watch Nutcracker, I feel peace and joy.
I love watching their tutu dresses flow in each & every movement. Their synchronization also is a beauty. Nice!
I love how Clara and the Nutrcracker are portrayed as children.
Have you ever seen or heard anything so beautiful in your life? What I would give to see this production. Bucket list stuff. I'm crying that was so beautiful.
I don't know why this made me cry but it did, so beautiful, everything about the performance feels magical
It reminded us our childhood, those Christmas days, expectations of magic to happen..♥️
Every time I watch this dance, I get emotional and cry. This is so Beautiful!
Wow, these longer, flowy skirts look so much better in ballet than those stiff or short ones...so graceful and dreamy
It's very dynamic, perfectly! This version of the choreography is the most successful: very dynamic, swift, unusually expressive, and at the same time elegant, beautiful scenery, a mysterious New Year's fairy tale and the geniuses of Tchaikovsky and Balanchine!
So much respect for the artistry, especially for the orchestra/choir. As for the handful of dancers whose pointe shoes definitely died half-way through this movement, I see you. (They were crazy amazing for hanging in there.)
The hardest corps piece in all of ballet. The choreo is FAST (and makes all other companies' Waltz of the Snowflakes look ... notably less active), and the snow is little pieces of paper and it does not stop. Toward the end it starts blowing in sideways so as to look like a blizzard. It's a miracle the dancers don't fall more often.
they have been through so much pain that the movements feel light and smooth, like a real snowflake, this is magic.
hold up, how do the dancers not slip on the snow stuff when dancing?? i’ve watched the nutcracker many times and always wondered bc i feel like it’d be easy to slip on the fake snow
It....It gets close sometimes....
But usually, after practicing so many times, the snow becomes second nature. Also, our pointe shoes are adjusted accordingly.
We slip. A lot
We do a bunch of rehearsals on stage and there super fun and it’s just tiring but at the same time super fun but we get used to the snow on the stage the stage sometimes can be fairly slippery but the snow makes it more slippery but we get used to it
It is but with rosin it helps you not slip
Practice and rosin
This part used to scare me for some reason when I was a young child; today I just find it beautiful and magical.
This is beyond beautiful. Words can not describe it. It is so magical and mesmerizing. I watch it in disbelief.
Just breathtaking!!! 😀🤗
I live in Minnesota, every time it snows I thiink of this piece- the falling snow SO goes with the music!!
Супер ,Чайковский это сказка.
Это русское непотребство нужно немедленно ОТМЕНИТЬ.!!! А в Нью-- Йорке пускай танцуют гопака.
I always love the Nutcracker

Hahahahhahaha i totally relate to this. *panics* 🤣🤣🤣
AAAA THIS IS SO FUNNY LOLL
So beautiful. This dance always makes me cry. The music the snow. Magical!!!
this is art. i’m telling you! this is magical, this is calming, this is a work of beauty and art in one.
This is My absolute favourite from the nutcracker!💞
I wonder which authors ' productions have you watched yet?
This is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. I don't know how those ballerinas pulled this off with no mistakes in their performance.
The way the dresses move make Me wiredly happy
I want these fairies on my wedding 🥰
those chain turns are lit ❤
Choreografia,kostiumy i tancerki zachwycające 🌹☺️
In snow and waltze of the flowers as a bud this year, the amount of stamina it takes is immense, I have always loves how effortless they make the dancing look :)
This is the first time I felt emotional after a performance..wow
The costumes are so ethereal graceful and beautiful!
Wonderful!!!!!! 💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙
The set design is magnificent ,bravo to the art director, lighting etc. Beautiful dancing snowflakes,
I had designed lighting for a local nutcracker production that used white for the whole show. The design made a HUGE impact in transporting the audience to the fantasy worlds in the show. While we did not have a snow backdrop, I did use the cyc and projected snowflakes on it with blue.
Нежные снежинки кружат под великолепную музыку!
Esattamente come la neve a Natale. Mi evoca lo stupore, l'attesa, la gioia di quando ero bambina. Meraviglia 💕
It's true magic, as only Balanchine could create!
THAT WAS SO GOOOOOOD I'M CRYING
I've always loved the waltz of the snowflakes in the Nutcracker. It's such an energetic and beautiful scene and it always looks like the dancers are having so much fun. I can't wait to finally be a part of the snow scene in my studios production of the Nutcracker this year. :)
This is my absolute favorite ballet piece. The music and the dancing and scenery (and I’m someone who doesn’t like the cold/snow)
So I don’t either and I’m from SoCal
it is most beautiful when snowflakes dances while snow falling
utter perfection ❤❤
He really had a way to understand music and make it paint you a picture. The magical snowstorm, snowflakes twirling and flying around, and the choir magical singing brings turns it to real fairy tale. I love how it starts with few snowflakes and music is very modest, but as time progresses it is a full blown snowstorm. Speed is rising, dance is turning complex and we can see snow personalized through dancers in all it's glory and aspects. It is plain and simple but then picks up to a chaos only to turn slow and calm again, as children appear. Falling snow is magical to them, since Christmas is time of magic.
I was a snowflake when I 9. I miss ❤
Tudo lindissimo.orquestra. coro e balé.as crianças são a cereja do bolo.espetaculo impecavel
It's like dancing fairies ❤️

Как же это красиво! Просто нереально 😍😍😍
I love this particular choreography! It’s choreographed to the music, and captures the magical and whimsical qualities that Tchaikovsky likely may have intended ❄️❤️

This is the best choriography i have ever seen till now. I also apperciate the choice of the costume making it look so light anf flowy like a snowflake, everhthing was well put together
It's endearing to watch the dancers and hear the beautifully orchestral score in this magical setting .... Splendid !
I'm literally crying here. That is so beautiful!

I absolutely love The Nutcracker! The Kyiv Grand Ballet was recently in Kalmar Sweden, and I was a fantastic evening! This is absolutely lovely!
It's performance is very dynamic in the movement and in the time.
When I ushered at the NYS theatre, Lincoln Center this was my favorite part of the Nutcracker.
