    Brilliant. Just the idea of building the spatial awareness of where the sweet spot is in relation to your hand by constantly touching the ball is fantastic. No need to find a drilling partner, no need for a court. Love it. Thank you so much!

    I really liked the one handed vs two handed backhand ready positions! Seems like a lot of tutorials are pushing people to two handed backhand nowadays. But coming from 40 years of racquetball the one handed backhand is much more natural to me.
    And all the drills were great! Thank you!

    I truly enjoy listening to you. You provide great insight into why you do those certain movements. The idea of keeping the paddle within your peripheral view makes sense. I’m going to try it tomorrow.

    Great advice! I agree with the wall behind your shoulders idea. I’ve heard Tyson McGuffin call this hitting zone the “magic bubble”. A local coach said to imagine a big beach ball in front of you and all your points of contact should be within the beach ball.
    It works!!!

    Ready position clarification was one I hadn't heard, most time people just show the higher up version. The peripheral vision limit was good, but I'm pretty sure I've heard you mention that one a time or two in other videos, so I have to give the ready position info the win on this video haha.

    notr sure if you touched on it in the hand speed video I think it was the counter video, but I think it still applys to speed was the tip about tucking the elbows in toward the sides of the torso. As you know, it forces that shorter, faster range of motion at the NVZ.

    So coming from tennis this ready position tip makes so much sense. I am trying to bust out of the habit of slicing my volleys. Sure sometimes it comes in handy where if I slice and it cuts and lands directly at their feet or to cut through the court to open space which having margin of error. But I’m instinctively slicing every time even on waist high balls that at times I feel I keep my opponent in the point when it could’ve ended

    • @pickleballplaybook
      @pickleballplaybook  8 місяців тому

      Just keep drilling. Focus on hitting the back of the ball!

    • @joshc.6706
      @joshc.6706 8 місяців тому

      @@pickleballplaybook yeah for sure. Over the last 3 months it’s slowly getting there. You know I would always try and tell myself come over the ball not under to try and focus my brain on it. I never thought of hitting the back of the ball. It’s such a simple thing but I guess I over complicated the process. Thanks!

    I’d add Paris Todd for quick hands, but maybe the best I have seen lately on the PB channels for mixed doubles in really fast firefights is Jorja Johnson. Jorja also has incredible control during the firefights because it looks she is ready, out front more often and appears more relaxed as it is happening.

    • @pickleballplaybook
      @pickleballplaybook  6 місяців тому

      What is recommend is coming up with your own opinions on fast hands. I think so often we hear the announcers say, “this is the best I’ve seen Jorja play” and “she’s beating Ben in all these hand battles” but in reality her and JW are still losing to them and Ben is coming out on top of majority of them. I’d put AL’s hands wayyyy above Jorjas. Jorja has a long way to go technically before she can start beating AL in hand battles.
      Paris does have quick hands too but not as quick as AL so probably why she didn’t cross my mind.
      The pros are fun to watch!!

    Please do another video on this: my partner refuses to even try drop shots, therefore setting me up for being blasted by the opposing team. The question is-do I stay slightly back, creeping slowly in, playing defense; or do I rush in and try to make my reaction faster? Or both?
