The demo with the tephra. Awesome.
Just calculated the volume compared to land size in my area 30m x 15m (US about 100'x50'). One lot buried to a depth of about 10m every 4 minutes.

@@castingshadows282 Ahhhh... very good, that makes sense. Then the words are basically the same.
Pumice: a type of extrusive volcanic rock, produced when lava with a very high content of water and gases is discharged from a volcano. As the gas bubbles escape, the lava becomes frothy. When this lava cools and hardens, the result is a very light rock material filled with tiny bubbles of gas.

910 acre-feet per day. 1.4 million cubic yards per day. 13 X 86,400 = 1,123,200 cubic meters per day. If the total area covered by the lava is 440 acres, then this flow is adding more than 2 feet to the average thickness of the entire lava footprint every day. Of course, the area covered by lava will grow. As long as this is the flow rate, those loose soil dams will not stop the lava from pouring down the hill to the sea! Madame Pele wants to meet her sister!

Hey *+GutnTog* I don't know what your mic. set up is but if it is a small one, or just on your phone, I've found putting a bit of cotton wool over it with a bit of ™Blue Tac (or similar) to hold it down, can really mitigate the wind
