This is the very tutorial that I saw and learnt from almost 6 years ago, I was around 10 years old and I was trying my dad's Fender Strat for the first time. Now I am 16 and I must show my appreciation to the one that got me started all together. It's insane to see how much I've progressed over the years. Many thanks Marty!

This is the first song I learned when I finally picked the guitar up after 30 odd years of thinking the great guitarists were wizards and loving the music and thinking I could never do it, they are and I still cant do it like them but Marty shows us peasants how to play some cool stuff when we have the time. This is still the first thing I play when I pick up a guitar. Ive added here and there to make my own version but Ill always remember coming across this channel and learning how to do it with just one finger, then the power chords. It really was a great feeling being able to knock this down. You are doing the Lords work Marty.
Thanks for the help with the rift. I’m 60 and learning the guitar. My only word of advice to anyone is to enjoy the process of playing and don’t compare yourself to others. I know I’m better than I was 6 months ago. My goal is not to be a pro musician but to embrace the discipline that it takes play music. If I can keep practicing and learning then I’ve accomplished a lot.

Just completed the 3rd beginner electric guitar lesson, and after learning a few power chords, he wanted to learn the rest of this song. Thanks for another great video. I play finger-style acoustic but didn't know where to start to teach him electric. Your channel has been the perfect supplement to help me teach him the basics.

Thanks Mark for the instructions. I also learning more songs from your other tutorials and i must say you explain the entire song with detail and patience. Thanks for that.
Hey Marty, years ago when I got an acoustic guitar, I stumbled upon your channel on youtube (I couldn't afford an electric guitar back then). I recently picked up an electric strat and began revisiting everything I had learned years ago, and your channel and a few others remind me of the good old, simpler times back then. Thanks for making these tutorials and bringing joy to the art of learning how to play this beautiful instrument!

Hey Marty just picked up my 20th Anniversary Strat after 12 years and having local lessons and one of the tunes we are practicing is this. My tutor is away and this video has been great using airplay etc..plus I have been recording my efforts to help me with progress. Good, simple explanations on the use of frets. I have subscribed and will tune in for more, thanks Ian
I picked up an electric guitar that was laying around picking up dust about two weeks ago and decided I was gonna try and learn how to play it, It's something I've been wanting to learn for a couple years so I figured now's as good a time as any. Your videos are easily understandable and I'm able to follow along with what you're saying without it being a mission and a half, so yeah, I appreciate that :))
Im barely able to get my fingers strength down but I understand the chord progression I guess practice and band aids on my fingers will be in full affect this next week.
If you put your finger closer to the fret wire (little line between the frets), you don’t have to press down as hard. you press harder if you’re in the “middle” or “back” of the fret more (if this made any sense)

I play guitar for over a year now and things like this helps me a lot to understand the electric guitar better. I play mostly accoustic, but I like to try and learn the electric guitar. Thanks man❤️
hey, so i have an electric guitar, i've been learning pretty well and i would like to get a octaver pedal, any recommendations for a pedal? btw i'm not looking for something too expensive since i'll probably replace whatever i have later, just something good for it's price.
5:27 whoaa that's a sick moment for the transition In other news this is quite hard to play on acoustic because its fat belly is in the way, would you have a tip for that other than going electric?
For the acoustic guitar I used 7,7,10,7,5,3,2 on the A string, I think that's how they usual teach it for acoustic guitar. They say it's the same as playing 12,12,15,12,10,8,7 on E string, so just one string down and the sequence is different and it's much easier for acoustic guitar
Don't be jealous of Marty, he is a professional guitarist and has some extra tools that some of you don't have plus it won't take long to get this song down even if you are a starter. :)
I'm having a hard time doing the power cord and changing, my finger always ends up either 1 too far or close. Is there anything I can do to prevent this? thanks.
its all muscle memory, start off slow and speed it up at your own pace but always remember rhythm! The chords will come naturally to you through practice 👍
Bro this really helped me but I cant get the power cords part down like I can get down 12 and 15 power cord and the 3 and 5 and the 5 and 7 but cant seem to get the other parts down
I gotta say, you are the only reason I have kept up with my lessons. I was so frustrated today that I put the guitar down and said, that's snuff for today...then I happened upon this session and now I don't wanna stop. Its too bad you don't teach metal, I am trying to learn Nero Forte by Slipknot, if anyone in the world could break it down, it would be you! Regardless consider me subscribed!

It’s hard I learned it on accoustic, but I don’t have any tips I just dealt with it haha
@@jeffreyknapp8860 Ha fair! I've been doing the same
For the acoustic guitar I used 7,7,10,7,5,3,2 on the A string, I think that's how they usual teach it for acoustic guitar. They say it's the same as playing 12,12,15,12,10,8,7 on E string, so just one string down and the sequence is different and it's much easier for acoustic guitar
@@faydemaria1019 thanks so much!
hi marty! im 13 and just got my electric gutair at christmas. ive been struggling to play but your videos really helped me! thank you!
Don't be jealous of Marty, he is a professional guitarist and has some extra tools that some of you don't have plus it won't take long to get this song down even if you are a starter. :)
I'm having a hard time doing the power cord and changing, my finger always ends up either 1 too far or close. Is there anything I can do to prevent this? thanks.
practice changing positions. A lot of guitar is muscle memory
its all muscle memory, start off slow and speed it up at your own pace but always remember rhythm! The chords will come naturally to you through practice 👍
Practice.......
Use your pinkie :p
😂I remember this exact issue when I started, you just need to practice
I could do it if................
I had an electric ._.

Bro this really helped me but I cant get the power cords part down like I can get down 12 and 15 power cord and the 3 and 5 and the 5 and 7 but cant seem to get the other parts down
I just got my guitar yesterday and I’m 12 and I just learned a song thanks to you!!!!! This is THE BEST video I watched so far on guitar!!!!!!!
