This was a ton of fun, thanks GDQ for having me kick off the Awful Block!
Love the shirt!
yooo the man
good run Bro!
Thank you for running this game. It took me a few minutes to notice your shirt but I must say that I love it, I'd recognize that hairline anywhere. Your fashion sense is top-tier.
Your shirt is fantastic. Cheers!
Hitting that mini-boss over 200 times with the short, loop of that carnival of chaos song... This is a new kind of hell.
Unlike the other CD-i zelda games you can tell a lot of love was put into developing this one, which ruins any notion one might have had about effort and love being enough to make a good game.
I actually really like the way the world is put together though. This is the one of the three I'd pay money for a remastered edition that maintains the look but eliminates load times and cleans up some of the mechanics.
I love the fact that every screen resets the music/sound effects to the beginning. I’m surprised no one mentioned how annoyingly hilarious that is!
You either get a restart on every screen or a song that plays over the entire game. Apparently getting something actually functional is something we have taken for granted lol.
The CD-i was definitely not the strongest of consoles RAM-wise
This run was radical, dude. Totally.
Thanks 0rganics and Doug for having me on commentary even though I'm washed up.
This is definitely one of the Zelda games of the entire time.
TRUE, it is for sure one of the Legend of Zelda video games of all time!
@@GraniteisaRockProds you could even say it is one of the games ever!
Sure was a game.
Of all the games I’ve played, this certainly was one
It definitely has a game feel to it.
The game is like a horrible fever dream and we all should appreciate Doug's passion for speedrunning it. I got stuck after half an hour and never came back to it again. Great run!
"Mom,.can we have Legend of Zelda?"
"We have Zelda at home."
Zelda at home:
This is the weirdest version of Alice In Wonderland I've ever seen...
The high storage capacity of cds contrasted by the lacking power of the cdi is creating a real uncanny valley effect here
Idk man the programers were just overly ambitious. Oregon Trail still exists.
Ah yes, Awful Block. A bi-yearly tradition.
It's my favorite. The commentary always does it for me.
I finally found someone who completed this since gamegrumps gave up at the wizrobe
I played trough this game last year. It was actually kinda fun... if you have a guide. Almost every enemy seems to be weak to a very specific item. Good luck trying to find every weakness yourself. It's also funny how linear every dungeon is after the 2nd one. I also found the early parts harder, having fewer hearts and such. Later you are so powerful It feels nothing can stop you.
Edit: Thank you for all the new things I learned about this game.
Fantastic run with amazing commentary, thanks for the good time
yeah been waiting for this! Lets Go Awful Block!
Yo! Zeldathon crew represent!
You know, this game really doesn’t seem so bad??? It isn’t good either, but you can tell what the developers were trying to do and maybe could’ve created with a decent budget + an actual video game console to work with. The use of claymation/models for the monsters is also pretty interesting.
This was amazing. Good job guys!
Clicked on this by chance. Really enjoyable and very entertaining runner, commentators, and host.
I'm as old as this game. I wonder which one aged better?
Not going to lie. This is my favorite CDi Zelda game. I loved watching MC playing and learning it way back in the before times.
Every screen in every one of these shrines looks like it was made by a neural network. It's terrifying
First time i saw the "old" wizard dude i thought he looked abit like Gordon Ramsey, so i just made this game alot more fun for myself by imagining him screaming commands and plotpoints to Zelda xD
I've been waiting for this!!! Sad I missed the stream but always glad for awful block.
Oh, the loading in this game is spicy.
This actually seems like a halfway decent game, by CD-i standards.
So...a bad game.
It is a terrible game, but one I can't help but enjoy, and I have mad respect for Viridis. The development history is prove of how notoriously bad the CD-i is as a games console.
Poor CDI. That's really rough
You can see there's ambition behind it, but it got held back, both the developer's lack of game dev experience as well as the CDi just being an overall nightmare to work with.
Radical dude! Totally.
Semi annual awful block has become the highlight of this series
The cd-I community gives me life. To be so into such terrible games played on such a horrible system is exactly my kind of thing. I have found my people.
And the curse is complete. Thank you for putting this in schedule
Whoa, MCGamer. That takes me back. Haven't kept up with him since back in the days of...
...ORANGE WOOOOOOOOL!
This game feels more like a true Zelda game than Breath of the Wild.
pretty much no zelda game since minish cap has felt like a zelda game to me
Radical dude, totally!
Timestamp of Food Dude: 1:13:38
Enjoy!
Now I really want to see a Dink Smallwood run along side this!
I'm willing to bet at least $20 that the wall textures at 43:55 are one of the dev team's kitchen cabinets.
at 16:11 he mentions that there was originally an overworld theme, is this true?? is it online maybe cuz I'd love to hear it ;w;
I'm bummed that this game didn't get remastered like the other two did. This game could really benefit from having 60 FPS and having much faster loading times between screens. Some enemies could also use a lot less hits to kill. Not sure how widescreen would be implemented in a game like this.
Who knew that dying in this game is a good tactic? Are you sure the Claymation models still exist? They might be destroyed.
I've got one raft in my pocket, and the other one's up giving out peace signs
It feels Like this Game was deleted out of History and out of the timeline
The holy trinity is complete!!!
🐛 POST 🐛 THIS 🐛 BUG 🐛 TO 🐛 CHEER 🐛 ON 🐛 DOUG 🐛
Yesss! I love Awful Block!
This game's depressing graphics unironically affect my mood 💀
Watching this in awe knowing a copy of this game sold on eBay a couple of months ago for $1,750. ...what??
I have never known this Game 😂
The graphics in this game kinda remind me of the original Baldur's Gate for some reason.
Awesome should be struck through for this run, the runner is awesome, the cause is awesome. The game is not.
Didn't there used to be a sub-event called Awful Games Done Quick?
Welcome to the awful block.
Abandon all hope, ye who enter here.
I dunno, it looked pretty awesome to me.
That word does not mean what it seems you think it means.
This IS Awful block. In this case "awesome" has a few buckets of sarcasm poured on.
A blue champions tunic? Is this game canon? XD
1:05:20 and I am strong
what in the actual f is this music, they thought this was a good idea when they were making this?
Ey comments
This game looks cool, I don't get why the guys are shiting all over it.
Because they don't realise some "reviews", mostly from the AVGN or other one, are comedy and took them as serious manner, or they're just hypocritical. That's why some games get badly critic.
