Worked in the industry for many years. Never seen one blow apart. Did it lke you did with lots of lube. We alwys deflated and reinflated to eliminate localised tube stretching and check proper bead seating. Water getr inside and rots rims. Woudnt put tyres on badly rusted rims and lock rings, common sense really. They need balancing, always out to buggary. Good job. PS, had lots come in flat with debris and stickers left inside due to poor workman ship.
I should edit the video because since I made this, I've gone back to a skinny tyre on the rim. I had too many problems with the tubes blowing. I've since welded up the rims too and fixed a lot of the rust. Out of balance completely I bet but I can't seem to feel anything while I drive so yep. Thanks for your input.
@@TasmanianHillBilly Research balance beads. Rednecks who go through mud use them, 'cause mud on a tyre throws it out of balance. Be interesting to see a follow up.
Split rims have been used for as long as I know. They've been phased out now because they can definitely be unsafe if put together wrong. Some large trucks still use them though. It's illegal to put split rims on a car that didn't come with them standard I believe.
