It makes sense to teach Jawi in Islamic class, sort of. It's not used for modern Malaysian writing, and Arabic script is necessary for reading Islamic texts. However, I said 'sort of' because I don't think Jawi, the Arabic abjad with Malaysian sounds, is actually necessary to teach. The abjad should be taught for writing Arabic, not Malaysian, unless people want to read historical Malaysian texts because they are researchers. After all, modern Malaysian uses Latin. What's the point of teaching modified abjad when the value of the abjad is for reading Arabic and Persian and not Malaysian? The Quran is in Arabic, not Jawi.
Another thing about Jawi is how they write the letter P. It's an F with three dots. If Jawi was used instead of Latin, writing P as B with three dots is better, to make it match with Persian and Kurdish. Arabic scripts with additional sounds such as P and G are too inconsistent all over the world; it would be better if they wrote the non-Arabic sounds in the same way.

Yes!A Malay learn Chinese doesn't means he gotta pray to Chinese Gods.It sounds ridiculous&hilarious when these Chinese shouting there for disagreeing government to let our next generations learn other races their language alphabets.P.S it's our national language tho.

I came to learn about Jawi. Reading Wikipedia is tiring sometimes.
As a religious Arab Muslim, I think writing systems should be chosen based on the ease of using them for their language. If Jawi is not good for writing Malaysian vowels, then use something else, such as Latin.
Why? Because Arabic writing can be taught from a young age in school. Muslims in London learn to write both the Arabic abjad and English/Latin alphabet when they are five years old.
That's why I'm okay with Latin script for Turkish.

@@shukriramlee The Aksara Beringin script was invented by Adam Damario in 2017. It is an alternative way to write in Indonesian. The characters were modeled from the twists of the hanging roots of the beringin tree (Ficus benjamina) - the tree is also a symbol of unity - which were then modified and simplified.

I prefer creating a new writing system from scratch(Which I did created one) because jawi is a little too complex and not different.
I like a writing system that is simple to learn but unique in its own way and not borrowing from any other languages.
Wouldn't it be great if Malaysia has a unique writing system that doesn't borrow from Sanskrit or Arabic or any other languages in the world?

    • @موسى_7

A unique writing system will make learning foreign languages too difficult, and it will make it difficult for foreigners to learn Bhs Melayu. It's best if as many languages as possible use Cyrillic, because Cyrillic has the most diverse range of sounds while being a simple alphabet and not a complicated cursive script.
