Mostly when you buy unsanforised - you gotta know what you’re buying. Unsanforised jeans often come rinsed these days in the European market ( still technically ‘raw’ ) which means they will shrink about as much when washed as most raw sanforised jeans - ie about an inch in the leg, and a little everywhere else. Why I state this is that not all ‘raw’ denim is the same in quality or behaviour - Orslow raw denim for instance is unsanforised - which has been rinsed once

It's even harder here in the states with vanity sizes, you can be a 38 inch waist and fit into a 33 pant ... More expensive brands seem to be more accurate and low end brands run much larger.
On fading, I find that cotton pants tend to fade much faster than wool blended pants. And while I realize that some guys can't wear wool for various reasons, they tend to breathe the best of any pants I've worn. They don't need the same care as a linen pant, most are made to be machine washable, and there are TONS of great options in different colors and fits. And the nice thing is, you can get them in a mid weight for all season, light weight (or tropical wool) for hotter climates, or even merino / cashmere blends when it's a bit cooler.
My ‘perfect’ pants are bespoke tailored. I also love the side-adjuster pants from Reiss. Their 32/32 fits me just right. However, my most worn pants in the last one year are Homme Plisse kersey pleated pants (easier to dress them up and down over the other homme plisses). I enjoy your videos. Keep them coming please.

Well I am glad it's not just me and someone with a different body type has the same issue. For me I have to size up so much for my glutes that it is impossible to ever find anything that fits my waist and tapers like I like.
Indeed, it is not easy to find the right pair of pants off the rack, but it is more difficult than that to find a tailor who is skilled in his craft, but one must try to find something close to perfection.
This is so true. I just got a pair from Abercrombie yesterday in what I thought were my size and they don't fit at all and the return process will likely be a nightmare. Such a waste of money
I don’t even try to buy nice pants anymore. I now stick to Levi’s or Lee’s in different colors. My problem is length. I’m a 29” length but everything lately is either 30” or 28” so I have to add ~$10 for the tailor to alter the length.
Bro I'm 6'7'' and you think your problem is length ? Literally cant buy any pants that are long enough, as you cannot add new material to pants. You'll be fine lol Wish I was you for a day, would spend the whole day at the mall and the tailors ;)
about the cleaning and dry cleaning, I heard that a lot of brans just use poor quality textile and dye, and at the end they would fade easily, so the solution? put a label of dry clean instead if using better material
Love this guide. am also a wait 31 and hated uniqlo for having S,M,L as a size reference. I want the length of a small one but my thighs and waist breathes more w/ a medium pair, this makes it uneasy for me since am a 5'6 guy and a medium one looks too big on me. I learn my lesson to never buy a 32 nor a medium in my future purchases, if theres no option then am just gonna wait or not buy than to regret later just like your advice. thanks mate
Having a short, stubby stature, pants are the absolute toughest piece for me to fit the way I like. I usually go for the lowest rise I can find and it has to be perfectly snug at the waist and my upper thigh. From there, the rest of the leg can range from slim to relaxed, sometimes wide. Depends on the mood. This is what I think a lot of people get wrong when trying to rock oversized styles. If the piece is meant to be oversized, get your ACTUAL size (sometimes you’ll need to size down, even). I avoid anything tapered (no joggers for me), so straight or relaxed is my grind. Although, I’m still on the hunt for a nice fitting harem style pant for a more daring look! lol So for short, stubby, slightly chubby guys like me, this has what worked for me best.
Fun paintings. The motifs come from a very old Swedish cocoa brand called "Ögonblink". When it comes to pants, I always buy from PT01. The only problem I have is that my pants always break in the crotch regardless of brand.
I’m also waist size 30 and Unqilo medium sized pants are simply not snug at all. Wasted a lot of money before realizing the brand may just not be compatible
34 Heritage or AG Jeans. Both do odd numbers. 34H, particularly, has the option of custom shortening the pants before hand. In a default range of 32, 34, and 36 (which even fits guys that are quite tall), with odd numbers up to a 35 (29, 31, 33, 35). In a true slim (Cool), slim boot (Courage), and straight (Charisma). As well as jeans with a higher rise in the back of the jean, perfect for guys who don't really have much of a butt, or just want a bit more coverage in the back.
I’m watching this video having an existential crisis as to why I can’t ever seem to find the right pair of pants. I feel like everything else is easy for me to find, except pants.
I have thicker thighs and wide hips thanks too my love for dead lifts , problem is that has made it so much harder to find great fitting clothes. Stuff either fits right around the waist but the crotch and thigh area is too tight or I have to up size but then I need a belt and I hate wearing belts because the cinch look on pants is unflattering
I found the perfect fiting pair at mr porter after searching for so long but guess what happened to that beautiful black cashmere and cotton after the first wash 😞
Problems with shortening- it can ruin the taper… so the ankle width is too wide 😢 I’m 5ft 6 and inside leg is only 27.5 inch. It’s always a nightmare for me to get any good jeans or trousers. Plus it adds another £30 onto the cost. 🤦🏻♂️😂😂 Small man problems.
I own 3 pairs of Iron Heart denim. 2 are the same measurements, but fit drastically different. The slubby pair fits perfectly at 30” while the black pair chokes me. I bought a 3rd pair in 31” and ended up needing to tailor the entire top block down to fit like the slubby pair. The black pair never broke in.
You look great in the acne studios trousers. They should use your picture on the website because I was really unimpressed with them when I saw the model pictures on their site.
It seems that jeans fit best on me when the waist size is a bit small. I have to pull to button them, but the rest fits well. I discovered waist extensions on amazon, and that helps with the waist.
I have 31" waist with some brands, 30 with other brands and 32 even 32 with some. So I gave up on finding perfect fit and buy 31 regular fit and 32 slim fit and just bloody wear belt all the time. Length is another nightmare so basically all my pants go straight to tailor when I buy them.
As the time goes by I realised that buying a pair of trousers or jeans is really hard. For myself, I found that M&S trousers are actually really nice for the price, they have a nice cut and fabric. For the jeans I normally go to H&M, COS.
Standard sizes for trousers are my biggest problem (small, medium, etc). Im a 30 waist and 35-36 length leg, so one measurement is always 4 inches off. If more places offered extra fabric at the hem so they could be extended, it would solve my problem. Even at a £100-150 budget I don't see this offered😢
Litterally not one pair of jeans i ever bought stretched out, no matter if from Levi's, Wrangler, Lee, HM, New Yorker, Mustang etc. The biggest problem i have is with my thighs. Trousers can hang freely in my calf area, and be 3 sizes too big in waist, but they sure as hell will lay on my thighs as if i wore leggins
It’s a nightmare for me, I have thicker legs so even if the waist size is okay the legs are always an issue, I gave up on slimmer pants since they don’t look good on me, nowadays I go for the 501s for my jeans and straight leg pants
I spent most of my adult life thinking I had a small ass, which had to mean saggy ass pants. Turned out it was a problem of fit. Once I started wearing vintage cuts - Japanese 50s repros - with a proper waist, then pants didn’t fall off me, and the problem was solved
Have you checked the jeans from the French brand Asphalte? They will be my next shot. Fairly priced, selvedge, some great dark shades available. I'm struggling to find chinos so I'll keep an eye to the comments.
My pants are all messed up because they're years old and don't fit because my weight has changed significantly. If I had some extra money, I'd be out at the thrift store trying to find some new pants. You might be right though, I've been so focused on the length and taper and not focused enough on the rest of the fit. When I do get around to finding new pants, I'll be sure to keep that in mind.
What about shrinkage in jeans?? I don't know if I'm confused but I'm always worried about them getting smaller after I wash them, so after this video I'm not sure anymore
A lot of jeans will shrink back to the size they were and then stretch out again but you can always do what I mentioned in the video with Reddit etc if you are concerned 🤟
Try levi's jeans. I bought them 2 years ago. Black. Washed them sooo many times.. They are still deeeep black. Also they fit great and they do have in between sizes. Also they make so many models, I'm sure you'll find the one you like.
omg, that is so true!! I am 6ft but I'm kinda thin skinny guy with 28-29 waist. And it comes to all cropped pants are way too short, and long length pants are never long enough...
If you prefer a certain rise - and you specifically know the rise you want - good luck. Very few places give you the rise measurements. Even less offer true high rise pants which is at your belly button.
I like getting pants in a physical store so I can try it. If it has stredge materials, I take one that fits but is not loose on the waist at all. Kind of where it just fits. Because they always drop down within an hour of wear 😂 If its a tight material, it has to be slightly larger than my waist. Because they tend to remain the same. I wash everything cold, that has helped the durability of all my clothes a lot. Never been to a dry cleaner, ever.
Specifically, those Uniqlo trousers you show (towards the middle of the video) would probably be the easiest to tailor. Taking in the seat and waist (even an inch and a half in the seat, to two inches in the waist would be better) would improve the drape significantly, something that most guys I work with need in a slimmer pant.
My problem is I workout. So jeans that fit great a year ago don't fit as nice now. I need to find pants that are roomier on the thighs and calves but not baggy or boxy
I finally found a pair of pants that fit me! KNOWLEDGE COTTON APPAREL- CHUCK regular chino twill pants. The fit is great and they are not that expensove. I can really recommend them! I have a pair in dark green and will probably get them in black or navy as well. I havent washed them yet so not sure if the colour will look good after washing but it feels like that.
What about the 505s? I think it’s a great pair, but I remember that you said that the fit could change. In my case i fit well with 505s and Dickies 874.
i have almost same proportions but some inches shorter. I recently got a new pair of orslow 107 size 1 and they where a bit too snug on the waist at first but with a couple of uses they stretched enough to be confortable. Now i cant stop wearing them because they fit so perfect.
@@HarryHas i dont found them to be that slim. Comparing them to a levis 505 30 waist, they are almost equal on the legs from crotch to hem, but from crotch to waist they are snugger, maybe closer to a 28 levis. They look on me like the Allsaints looks on you but a bit wider from thigh to hem. Im 31" on waist and 21" on thighs and 5,8' for reference.
Man, I've been struggling with this for years. I've got a similar build to you but my thighs and waist are about an inch bigger. Size 31/32 would be perfect for me in the waist, but when I buy things TTS, my legs don't fit. Levi's straight cut look like bell bottoms on me with my slim thighs getting choked out. Then the waist get stretched out and you have skin tight "straight cut" jeans with a baggy waist. Make it make sense... Who are these even designed for? I had this problem with AllSaints as well, especially with their slimmer cuts, but they're still my go to brand as they fit my proportions best. The only brand that fit me well with minimal tailoring was April77, but they don't exist anymore :(
Hey Harry, do chinos tend to stretch out? Just bought the wide-leg chinos from Uniqlo (they are 100% cotton) and the waist is snug, but not uncomfortable but I’m afraid to keep them.
I typically have the issue with the crotch area being too short or too flat(?) like there is no room for "me" lmao Was so happy to try the Dickies 874s and they just had no space whatsoever.
I’m like a 30 in the waist but I usually like to have my pants sit at my hip than my waist mainly cuz I like the belt to be showing. A size 30 is good in the waist but doesn’t really fit at my hip, should I go up a size then ?
And to make matters even worse, sometimes I've found pants in the same model/brand that differ in fit&size between colors/washes etc. although in the exact same size. Obviously those are budget-friendly like jack&jones but shouldn't happen in those either imo!
Thanks for another great video Harry. I've been thinking about buying the Acne Studios 1996 denim jeans for a while now but I'm not sure about the fit as they're quite tight on me, did you find yours stretched after a couple of wears?
I actually have a pretty good lock on finding pants that fit and look good on me! My biggest struggle is honestly t shirts and tops! It’s so fucking hard finding stuff that isn’t super long or is perfect there but is tight on the top. 😭
Hi Harry, I bought the 1996 jeans from Acne on your recommendation. They are great but a bit tight around the waist, do they stretch in your experience or should I size up one?
They are amazing. I was a waist size bigger when I bought them so I need to get another pair in my current size. They do stretch a bit but not as much as the Orslow pair in this video. If you went for your true size in them you will be good.
i used to love dickies 874 but the big waist band is uncomfortable since i gained weight. i switched over to dickies tough max duck carpenter pants since they have a regular size waist band and i love them, highly recommend them.
Im always the opposite, "what if it shrinks?" O.O And its quite easy to experience with tumble dryer. (I know, its pretty rare to find garments that lets you tumble dry it officially) Fading is a nightmare, and its always happens especially with black clothes.
Thanks Harry. I think I’ve made the exact same mistake with the Orslow jeans. They actually fit ok round the waist but are slightly baggy in the arse area, maybe I need to go gym more though 😂 is there any solutions to almost deshrink them once they start to go? Probably not worth wasting a trip to the tailors!

Honestly longer is better, you can cuff them and wear them with boots.
That cameltoe at 1:10 was just incredible 😂😂😂
🤟
Lol
This video made me realize that i've been wearing a mess since months! I'll try to fix that. Thanks
about the cleaning and dry cleaning, I heard that a lot of brans just use poor quality textile and dye, and at the end they would fade easily, so the solution? put a label of dry clean instead if using better material
Love this guide. am also a wait 31 and hated uniqlo for having S,M,L as a size reference. I want the length of a small one but my thighs and waist breathes more w/ a medium pair, this makes it uneasy for me since am a 5'6 guy and a medium one looks too big on me. I learn my lesson to never buy a 32 nor a medium in my future purchases, if theres no option then am just gonna wait or not buy than to regret later just like your advice. thanks mate
I’m a 30 inch waist now and I still have problems with Uniqlo sizing.
I always get the slimmest fit (but not skinny) and one size down and never got a bad fit. Works well. Same with jackets: slim and one size down.
I'm just looking for a good high-waister pant that isn't overly baggy or loose like the current trends, so hard!
I like your suggestion to buy jeans a bit snug. Might try that with my next pair!
i wonder what it's like to have jeans stretch out lol. every time they just get smaller for me after washing
After washing they shrink back but then they just stretch out again
I’m also waist size 30 and Unqilo medium sized pants are simply not snug at all. Wasted a lot of money before realizing the brand may just not be compatible
I deadass thought you were gonna say "Let's get into the pants" lmao. Great vid btw!
😂😂 Thanks mate
I agree with yr assessment of how jeans and pants fit... and it is a nightmare! I have a great tailor, but I agree with you about the waist sizing!
Keep hold of that tailor
What shoes are you wearing with the Acne trousers? 8:44
Ahh no. You should complain about that. I bet they weren’t cheap
Cashmere hates the washer.
Same here... i'm 5'7 and i've already ruined 2 pairs of pants because they were 30" in lenght and after shortening them the ankle width changed...
@@petisowc yeah you have to buy a tighter fit for it to work. Levi’s 512 are the best jeans I’ve found. 👍🏻
I can relate … I’m similar in height to you but my legs are relatively short and torso is long so I’m weird 🤣
It seems that jeans fit best on me when the waist size is a bit small. I have to pull to button them, but the rest fits well. I discovered waist extensions on amazon, and that helps with the waist.
Um....we obviously now needs a video on DYING YOUR JEANS! Wow, I never even considered doing that myself and would LOVE to learn!
I have one on the channel somewhere about clothing care
im size 29/30 waist but im 6'4 and all of my height is in my legs, i feel this struggle heavily
1:23 What pants are these? Love the silhouette!
I have that problem even though my legs aren’t that big. Very annoying
I spent most of my adult life thinking I had a small ass, which had to mean saggy ass pants. Turned out it was a problem of fit. Once I started wearing vintage cuts - Japanese 50s repros - with a proper waist, then pants didn’t fall off me, and the problem was solved
Harry, how do you take care of folds/creases in your pants that have them?
Specifically chinos.
Pleats?
I just iron them where they are supposed to be and fold them along the creases.
Have you checked the jeans from the French brand Asphalte? They will be my next shot. Fairly priced, selvedge, some great dark shades available.
I'm struggling to find chinos so I'll keep an eye to the comments.
I haven’t. I’ll look into them
My pants are all messed up because they're years old and don't fit because my weight has changed significantly.
A lot of jeans will shrink back to the size they were and then stretch out again but you can always do what I mentioned in the video with Reddit etc if you are concerned 🤟
try Nudie jeans, I always find them great quality and they're meant to fade gracefully, is your hairdresser dead of just avoiding moi
@3:25 *"They'll be absolutely fine. I'm just a worrier; I overthink too much, and I'm overly fussy."*
That warranted an IMMEDIATE SUBSCRIBE from me.
Try levi's jeans. I bought them 2 years ago. Black. Washed them sooo many times.. They are still deeeep black. Also they fit great and they do have in between sizes. Also they make so many models, I'm sure you'll find the one you like.
I’m 6ft 4 and skinny I found the perfect pants dickies 803 slim skinny absolutely amazing and yes they discontinued them 😢
Gutted
What's the model name of those all saints jeans? They look great 👍
omg, that is so true!! I am 6ft but I'm kinda thin skinny guy with 28-29 waist. And it comes to all cropped pants are way too short, and long length pants are never long enough...
I wish they would do a 31 inch leg for a shorter length but it’s either 30 or 32 for me
Yes harry mate very hard to find good pants
When you find some you go back for a nother pair and they are gone 😞
If you prefer a certain rise - and you specifically know the rise you want - good luck. Very few places give you the rise measurements. Even less offer true high rise pants which is at your belly button.
I like getting pants in a physical store so I can try it.
If it has stredge materials, I take one that fits but is not loose on the waist at all. Kind of where it just fits. Because they always drop down within an hour of wear 😂
If its a tight material, it has to be slightly larger than my waist.
That energetic "see you later!" caught me off guard😂
😂🙏
My problem is I workout. So jeans that fit great a year ago don't fit as nice now. I need to find pants that are roomier on the thighs and calves but not baggy or boxy
THANK YOU I WAS WAITING FOR THIS ❤
Hi Harry, was wondering if you know about Shaping New Tomorrow trousers, would really love if you would make a review of them.
I finally found a pair of pants that fit me! KNOWLEDGE COTTON APPAREL-
CHUCK regular chino twill pants. The fit is great and they are not that expensove. I can really recommend them! I have a pair in dark green and will probably get them in black or navy as well. I havent washed them yet so not sure if the colour will look good after washing but it feels like that.
I haven’t heard of them but I’ll check them out. Glad you have found something you love
What about the 505s? I think it’s a great pair, but I remember that you said that the fit could change. In my case i fit well with 505s and Dickies 874.
Jeans that aren’t mostly if not all cotton. They stretch out. A bit of Lycra helps.
i have almost same proportions but some inches shorter. I recently got a new pair of orslow 107 size 1 and they where a bit too snug on the waist at first but with a couple of uses they stretched enough to be confortable. Now i cant stop wearing them because they fit so perfect.
I’ve been thinking about getting them. How slim are they for you? I should have gone for a size 1
@@SebastianAIonso Thanks for letting me know. I will try them out and see how I get on
My jeans usually do not stretch. It shrink!!!!!!! Shrink so hard.
My vintage loop machine t shirt too 😭😭😭😭😭😭 i really b have to go up 1 or 2 size.
My measured size is 36” but in Levi’s and all other brands I wear a 32” or 33”.
The only brand that fit me well with minimal tailoring was April77, but they don't exist anymore :(
Sound advice, thanks again Harry!
Thank you mate
Hey Harry, do chinos tend to stretch out? Just bought the wide-leg chinos from Uniqlo (they are 100% cotton) and the waist is snug, but not uncomfortable but I’m afraid to keep them.
I typically have the issue with the crotch area being too short or too flat(?) like there is no room for "me" lmao Was so happy to try the Dickies 874s and they just had no space whatsoever.
THIS! I hate the fact that this seems to be the default design for all jeans. Wearing the pants too low looks disgusting.
Also knee bumps and how they interact with high shoes :')
Good point. I find knee bumps ruin the drape of a lot of pants
Hearing a British guy say pants brings up different idea in my head.
why dont my undercrackers fit 😢
it matter with different brand names and fabric i like nike and large is always lager to me i but got a nasa hoddie its its like a v shape
I’ve found it in pricier brands too. Very annoying for sure!
Thanks for another great video Harry. I've been thinking about buying the Acne Studios 1996 denim jeans for a while now but I'm not sure about the fit as they're quite tight on me, did you find yours stretched after a couple of wears?
They are solid. I got them when I was a waist size bigger so they are a bit big but they didn’t stretch much at all. I’d go for your regular size.
Great, thanks for letting me know@@HarryHas
What are the slippers with the acne pants? 😍
What about acne studios jeans?
They are solid. I got them when I was a waist size bigger so they are a bit big but amazing jeans. Highly recommend
Hi Harry, have you tried Muji jeans? I own a pair and absolutely love them.
I haven’t actually. I’ve only been into one of their stores once and didn’t get around to it. I’ll try them next time
i used to love dickies 874 but the big waist band is uncomfortable since i gained weight. i switched over to dickies tough max duck carpenter pants since they have a regular size waist band and i love them, highly recommend them.
I think Ive seen them about. I’ll check them out. Have a good one bro
@@HarryHas you too man, i enjoy your videos. p.s. what the heck was up with the camel toe on those bad fitting jeans?? lmao 😆😆😆😆
@@horrorhitlist3661 hahaha I know! Awful isn’t it!
Im always the opposite, "what if it shrinks?" O.O
And its quite easy to experience with tumble dryer. (I know, its pretty rare to find garments that lets you tumble dry it officially)
Fading is a nightmare, and its always happens especially with black clothes.
meanwhile a 28 waist is very loose for me. I somehow have a very slim waist.
They stretched out so much!
