    I played upwards of 1500hrs on my Astro 50's in the span of 2 years and I had no problems with them ever, they didn't hurt my head whatsoever after 5-6hr sessions, I used to love listening to music on them on the background on my pc. Spectacular headset I had them for 2-3 years before then sold them a 2 years ago but I'm getting back into gaming and I just wanted to do my due diligence to see if they have been surpassed but I'm happy to see they're still a good choice.

      Stay away from astros. Nothing but problems. Love the ear cup comfort and the sound, but having to hard reset them every time I use them is a pain. Friends constantly complain about my mic cutting out. Half the time they don't connect to the base station. Or they won't charge over night due to the tiny connector prongs. When it works it's great, but it's been nothing but headaches as of late. Not worth the $300+ for a headset.

    I swear by the Astro A50s. A bit expensive and not the greatest battery but sound quality/mic quality and product quality are incredible

    I'm getting the MMX 330 tomorrow, and I'm excited. Your review made me pull the trigger. I'm heavily into competitive gaming and besides the ability to pinpoint footsteps, another big plus for me is the lower latency compared to wireless.
    I'm coming from a SteelSeries Arctis 7P so I'm hoping for a nice upgrade in sound quality.

      Can you provide feedback on this review after testing ? Especially in relation to the open side. I'm interested to know how well external sounds (keyboard, fan) can be heard. Also to know if it's really accurate on competitive FPS.

      @poussin404 I've tested it with one evening of Overwatch 2. It's been really great so far! When I focused on it, I could hear my PC fans. I only tried this when I thought about it during my last round, which tells me that it's a non-issue since I actively had to focus on it and did not notice it prior during regular play. OW2 is not a demanding game and my fans are not hard at work and at a constant level, which probably helps. I noticed a big improvement in hearing footsteps over my Arctis 7P, but not so much in the directional sense (which is still great), but I almost had a feeling I was able to pick up detailed sounds from farther away (thus quicker). Even in chaotic moments. Absolutely and advantage. Compared with the fact that the thing is built like a tank but still light and comfortable, I am extremely happy with my purchase.

    • @yinx9
      @yinx9 Місяць тому

      @poussin404 Couldn't be happier. It's built like a tank but light and comfortable. It sounds fantastic. One giant bonus due to the open design that I only realized once I used it: I can hear my own voice when I speak, as in a 'natural sidetone'. I was used to hearing myself through the mic, but this is so much better. I could hear my PC fans, but I only realized once I paid attention to it. During regular play, it's so quiet that it's a non-issue... but that is partly to the fact that my main game Overwatch 2 isn't resource heavy and won't make my PC sweat.

    As of November 16, the Logitech g435 is on sale for only 37.00 (regular price 80.00) on Amazon. Solid headset and mic is much better than reviews mention.

    Would be awesome if they made a a50 g5 wired. I have been mainly using the corsair virtuoso pro with a steelseries gamedac gen2 most of this year. I really like the sound of it. Never tried a open back before. I thought it would be lacking on bass being a openback, possibly more than any steelseries. But to my surprise, they can get deep with the right eq & not lose any clarity at all through high volume. The headset can be had for as low as $90 refurbished direct from corsair. I ordered a backup last week because I like the headset so much.

      If you can wait until Black Friday/Cyber Monday, the Astro A40 regularly goes on sale for under $100, but right now it's at standard price. It has the best bass of any gaming headset under $100 by far.
      The HyperX Cloud Alpha can work if you apply enough EQ, but I'd try to hold out for that A40!

      @@XxKentokixX a day.... did this since day one. first i didnt notice it but then i started to add bass and at certin low hrz it pops like crazy. usualy when the hrz is very low, headphones just dont let that sound OUT. but these, it forces it out. and since it cant create that sound it makes pops and crackling instead. got in contact and exchanged.. same thing happend. then got a refound. then noticed a big update with the firmware that fixes sidetone wheel and could possibly fix this. gave it a last shot. it got worst. no more planar magnetic drivers for me its the worst.
      if you plan on getting these... try bass test videos see how low you can get. and also, test dolby atmos videos "theres a video where you see a montain and you hear lightning strike with rain... this is where i did my tests and this is where it almost pop my eardrums

      Can agree with the cracking and popping. If you play noisy games you won’t notice, but playing a very quiet game or waiting while no sound is present you can hear it, it’s very annoying but still keeping. Surprisingly the Sony xm4.s I think sound extremely good for gaming. Shockingly good. Better than maxwells in some games I played

    For players planning to buy and hoard gaming headsets worth $300+ x5 pcs, just buy HD800S, Audeze (heavy), or Hifiman Arya. Use Rode or Shure mic then period. I tried several gaming headsets and most of those were sounded like crap, just get Astro 50, Sony or Audio Technica headphones instead.
