I got the Atlas Air and it's better than I expected. I mainly use the MMX 300 2nd gen, but wanted wireless open back for couch/chill gaming and they actually sound fantastic
I know they are owned by a different company now, but Astro used to have the best customer service. They have sent me new pairs for free multiple times as I used to stand on the a40 cord and break it. They have won my dollar for as long as they make gaming headsets
I'm curious about the Astro A50 Gen 5's. Is there anything stopping you from plugging in another PC to the Playstation-labelled port? I don't play on PS but have two PCs that I'd like to connect this to. Would that matter?
I like the balance between depth and brevity going over each headset; I would suggest (as much as this is focused on 2024 releases) to compare it to, say, the top 1 from last year? Maybe something along the lines of best sounding from last year (and if last year's best-sounding is from 2022, then maybe carry that over)? I think that will be really helpful to buyers, especially since older gear tends to be less expensive (and if they're better quality than even the new stuff, that just makes them a bigger steal imho).
My brother says that my Pulse Elite's mic sounds better when it's retracted. One really nice thing about the headset is that it can connect to the PS Link AND Bluetooth simultaneously. So I can be in a phonecall AND hear my game.
Omg thank you for the video, I was in the market for a new headset! It’s so sad how Corsair’s headset quality was not like how they used to. I do love me some astros!

@@superavanator4966 did you go into dolby atmos and adjust the audio? There was a helpful video I watched by The Techne who did an indepth review and explained how to use the EQ settings for optimal sound
Yeah the Astro is incredible definitely Astro > Asus(slightly muffled)= Atlus(slightly sharp) then all the others are a joke. The point of a gaming headset is to be able to communicate with others. Otherwise we'd just be wearing studio headphones. I really don't think the microphone quality factored in enough for this ranking. I genuinely don't think the 700's should even be on this list. The microphone is downright horrendous and the all around quality is a joke at the full retail price.
Great video overall, and I loved the inclusion of GadgetryTech, but I found something to be lacking here in that videos like this make it hard to figure out which of these headphones actually sound good / better than the other. There is no reference point. Sure, you guys talked over the objective sound metrics, but that is not enough. We need the subjective takes from you guys about how these headphones sound, and especially how they sound compared to headphones of the past. Like, for example, comparing the Alienware Pro to the Audeze Maxwell, or comparing the Alienware Pro to the ASUS Rog Delta 2, or comparing the ASUS Rog Delta to how they sound against the Logitech G Pro X 2 That said, I understand y'all have a limited time to work with, but just saying what's helpful for us, the consumers
What’s the point of a “subjective” test, when everyone hears things different and perceives sounds differently, when we can give you the literal objective measurements to show you how they sound. You can then compare each sound chart, giving you the comparison without bias. This video is already a half hour long with 7 different headsets. It’s not a dedicated review of each, but a general overview of each.
@randomfrankp I'm not an expert in audio, so excuse my ignorance, but my understanding from looking into headphones is that objective sound measurements don't tell the whole story i.e., a perfectly tuned headphone doesn't mean that it will sound better than a slightly out of tune headphone because there are other metrics to audio e.g. detailing For example, in his reviews, GadgetryTech has a section for Subjective Sound in his reviews where he often talks about how, for example, the Alienware Pro sounds a degree better than the Logitech G Pro X 2, and saying that it sounds like a significantly more expensive headset. That tells me a LOT more than talking about the objective sound measurements, which can usually be tuned more or less anyway with an EQ. Additionally, GadgetryTech, when talking about the sound quality of the ASUS Rog Delta 2 in his review said that it has less detailing in the audio than the Logitech G Pro X 2. This again told me a lot, and it helped paint a picture in my mind about how the audio quality is ranked between these headsets: ASUS Rog Delta 2 < Logitech G Pro X 2
I'll be honest, I'm very surprised to see Alienware and ASUS on this list. Always just kinda considered them as cheap "gotta have that in our lineup but don't wanna design our own" kinda whitelabel thing
The Asus Delta II are legitimately good. Don't care for the RGB personally, but just turned that off. I use my Sennheiser PC37X (open back) a lot of the time but when I want zero distractions and play a game where footsteps or harder to hear details are important then the Delta II are my go to. It's also nice to have a gaming headset that you can remove the mic, never use a mic when I game, and unfortunately the Sennheiser PC37X has a non detachable mic even if it can be rotated up out of the way
@@ThunderGowPlayer I like them. Headphones are a bit subjective though, but I do recommend them. Asus gets a lot of hate (obviously a lot from their warranty issues) based peripherals from the earlier products. A lot of their current peripherals are actually good. I have the original Keris and the AimPoint Keris mice and have been impressed with them. Likely going to get the Rog Scope II 96 keyboard as well.
Will the mic on the turtle beach atlas air headset pick up sound of what I'm watching or playing since the headset is an open back? Will my friends be able to hear youtube from my own headset when I'm in a call?
I had recently bought the 700 stealth gen 3 because of all the features and that 80 hour battery life. But when I got it, it immediately had major issues. I’m not sure if it was defective or what. But the mic quality was bad, I couldn’t hear footsteps or small noises, the headset would randomly disconnect from the pc and I would have to manually disconnect the usb and reconnect it just for the headset to work again. I loved the cobalt colorway design and the unique features it had, but it was a huge let down and disappointed me heavily since it couldn’t even do the basic things it was advertised.
To compare, my old headset was the A10 Gen 1s for Xbox, the mic quality on that was far greater than the one on the 700’s, and at least with the A10 I could hear everything. One thing I will say is the bass on the 700s were great for music listening I loved them. But they failed when I needed it for gameplay.
