Hey Lynx! I just wanna thank you from the bottom of my heart for your videos. I really enjoy them and as i still growing Tank main in FFXIV, your videos have helped me greatly to improve as a tank. Since the "Every Job in FFXIV Is a DPS. Here's Why" video, to the "FFXIV: Reacting to Your TERRIBLE & GREAT UIs!" i have learned a lot on how to actually do things better and faster. The HUD change although i thought it was small as hell, has helped me a lot to focus on only one part on the screen and perform even better as i don't need to jump up and down searching for my buffs and debuffs, and i really appreciate your thoughts, videos and guides on how to properly tank. You just earned another sub, and i hope nothing ever stops you from being a great mentor as you are
You're such a respectable savage tier tank, real glad to see someone knowing what to do, being smart and communicative about it while also being friendly and respectful to new players without babying them
Now thats top quality content, live savage raiding explaining every mechanic. I've already cleared these fights as a dragoon but I still find it very interesting to see them with another perspective. Keep it up dude.
The fact that Lynx managed to go through an optimization run, parse 95, and provide extremely detailed commentary throughout the entire duration of the fight without missing a single fucking beat is absolutely ridiculous to me. Kudos, man. What the fuck.
i was the whm in that e6s run! loved this video and watching how you tanked, was really interesting and hearing you talk about everything makes me really want to start tanking this tier eventually!
It's validating seeing this and hearing the same tactics and CD usage I did as a tank without consulting guides. But it's also great seeing this and realizing I could've done something different for optimizing. Really enjoying all these videos!
Ayyy I know Bear Boye! Dope vid lynx, this was super helpful, I’m off tanking in the learning group I’m in for this fight right now so it was nice to see this breakdown
Ooooh, this looks like the beginnings of an optimized tanking savage guide series. Savage is the only thing I’ve yet to tank, I’ve dps’d Alexander but haven’t touched it since then. I like the concise and familiar manner in which you break everything down.
as someone who is attempting to become a tank specifically dark knight main i really appreciate this video. i'm still a sprout when it comes to current savage content but this type of content is really helping me learn how to manage those insane autos. thank you for putting so much care and work into this content. u really are making a difference. cooldown management is my weakest point atm, so hearing you explain when and why u use a cooldown gives me a valuable reference. so again thank you alot lynx.
I have been considering trying savage raiding but given that I don't have too much time to play I was concerned I would not be able learn the fights in any reasonable amount of time. This video is super helpful for me as a PLD main, and I thank you so much for uploading it! It is greatly appreciated!
New to tanking savage here! Your awareness is insane, it really shows how comfortable you are with the role. This really inspires me to learn more and to keep playing. Thanks for the video!
Holy hell this was great and a treat to watch. I’m definitely gonna rewatch this over and over until I get super comfortable like you do. Just got into savage raiding and this video is a godsend for me
Really enjoyed this video! It’s so interesting to me watching and listening to what’s going on in a vet’s head and what runs their decisions ingame. Keep em coming!
As a tank just starting to raid savage, I really appreciate this kind of video explaining your thought process. It's so much more helpful than any other video I've seen, where I'm trying to squint at 3x3 pixel hotbars trying to figure out what exactly is going on.
As a WAR main who just started to learn the uptime strats (getting a 95 with it, too, after the first successful kill w/500 Wep) I knew that those FCs before Rasta-pasta would be clipped due to so much IR delay. You definitely want to delay your IRs as little as possible in your first phase, and that'll make all the difference. So, eat them orbs with a Rampart, and you'll be good. Heck, as long as you are topped off, you can survive a dual orb with rampart up with 10% health left. Regardless, very solid commentary, and I liked hearing you think!
Hey Lynx, I recently found your videos and wanted to say thanks for making them, I am a tank main who has only recently joined FF14 and I am loving it. I really appreciate the way you explain your play style and give a very intelligent perspective of someone who wants to optimize their effectiveness. it is unfortunate that there are still so many people that think our dedication to getting better means that we think less of them when that is just not the case. Keep up the great work and i look forward to learning more from you.
Dang, I've tried raiding and have pretty much sucked at it, but watching top parsers like you make these look easy is such a treat. Maybe I should try party finder again. Great video!
this is the kind of content i need, especially because im not good at reading logs, and im a derp tank main. ive learned so much from this already, thanks man
As someone who just starting progging this tier a couple weeks ago with some friends, this video has helped me consider smarter cooldown usage, rather than just using them on specific casts of a fight. This should help me as I go back to reprogging e6s with my group (I cleared it without them). I've been lurking here since the beginning and I have to say your videos have been helpful and informative!
As someone who hasn't gotten the nerve to try savage yet, these kinds of videos are really good to kind of get an idea of what to expect outside of the basic video guides going over mechanics. I can definitely say that your stuff has made me more comfortable with tanking, I've been working my way up through the ShB EX trials on tank, a role I didn't play much outside of dungeons before recently, and I may even try to start attempting some savages as a tank. Since I'm also really fond of warrior and dark knight like you are it's great to see them played from the perspective of someone who really knows them inside and out - keep up the good content!
Perfect timing, got the shiva axe Tuesday so I'm speed leveling warrior (61 atm) so I can find groups quicker. Not a fan of gnb or pal which I have at 80 already
I love this! I'd like to see both E7S and E8S done this way as well. I really feel this is going to change my approach to fights this tier when I jump into PF from now on.
New player here, doing ST mostly currently progging through e7s, but thanks, this video gave me more insights about tanking. So keep up the good work !
Honestly I’ve been trying to clear e5s for the past two weeks and last night we got to enrage. I’ve been struggling since we’ve been having to pug the last few members. However these vids have given me something to try to improve myself with so I appreciate it Lynx. Hopefully I’ll have the clear on Friday (assuming we’ve got both everyone ready willing to go for it.)
I just started TEA my first ultimate and it been challenging to find others that are consistent with dps and mechanics. Seeing how you explain parse runs like this makes me want to keep going and try parse runs in PF.
Hey Lynx, love your content! One of my favorite FF players as a tank main. I believe I ran into you yesterday in Weeping City of Mhach and I was so hyped lol. Anyways, keep up the awesome content!
I've been slow to trying out tanking, in all likelihood I probably won't try tanking harder content until next expansion but we'll see haha. You're very helpful and knowledgeable, nice job. Better for me to understand, to see you literally doing stuff while explaining how's and why's. I like the pseudo-live vids too. Also these are hilarious to me as a stream lurker of yours, since unlike the UA-cam only crowd, I know you for the Meme Troll God you really are XD
Top tier content!! Recently reached the endgame as a new player and switched to gnb after clearing msq with dragoon and tbh havent looked back. Your videos helped me a loot esp the UI one and this on proper cooldown management and such keep it up, you earned yourself a sub.
Hey lynx can you do a video on managing a static, like tips and stuff like that? Your videos are the best and you have alottt of knowledge about that kind of stuff
Great content, lynx! Contrary to what you said in one moment in this video, you're actually good at commentating on your own actions. It was easy to understand and I even learned new things for warrior. Do you use the same melds for WAR and DRK? Roughly how much DPS do you lose by using GNB/PLD/DRK melds of CRIT>DH>DET when playing WAR?
If you're going to play warrior AT ALL then meld det. I went direct hit because when I was raiding with my static I ONLY played dark knight and didn't care about warrior this tier. The damage difference is really small, so if you want to play warrior at any point then meld det.
You don't actually need to invuln on Garuda's Vacuum Slice for uptime. It's a bit risky but you can run out of Garuda's melee aoe, pop your mitigation and run back in as soon as the aoe is gone while popping IR, get a Fellcleave in and run back out again so you don't get knocked into the voidzone. You're gonna eat an orb aoe but you can heal yourself back up with Nascent and the last 3 IR Fellcleaves. This allows you to get IR out about 2 GCDs earlier and lets you end the Garuda phase on Maim so you can immediately refresh Eye on Ifrit and it makes it less likely that you miss a Fellcleave during Garuda+Ifrit.
Hey Lynx my dude, this is really solid content but I would definitely not be parsing with randos with the full names being displayed. These are mostly perfect legends so I doubt they care, but it's kinda bad juju with the way the game's ToS is set up, plus it's a little call-outish/doxish maybe? The game doesn't let you hide target-of-target, but everything else can be initial'd including most parse overlays. Enjoying the walkthrough though! Unsure if I'll touch Savage again after my static fell apart but this is a cool peek at high-level gameplay.
New to FF from well over a decade plus years of WoW. Barely a half a week old as a new player. Very cool video. I not going to pretend i understand the Raid Marking positional's on the floor. So if someone can explain what's happening with those at the very beginning with the Square at the start and then the positional layout after be helpful.
Hey awesome video I love DRK! At 8:10 when you took the tank buster you already had a proc’d edge of shadow, do they stack so after the tank buster you would of had 2? Just curious to know that’s all! :)
I still use this video to today for my log runs lmao its super good Btw, what was your sprint macro? And your inner release macro? Why not just use regular sprint and inner release?

I always love seeing how good/bad I do compared to other people so i know when im underperforming but FF has nothing of the sorts. I also noticed some people use different variations of something like that but I like yours the most, transparent, easy to read fonts, etc. Pls? Keep up the good work
I use a custom kagerou overlay that I personalized to my liking, you can find a guide to installing kagerou by searching "ffxiv kagerou guide" on youtube. Once you have it installed you can import my look from the kagerou settings. the string you want to import can be found here: pastebin.com/vA9tMyQT
Could we get a quick guide about what stats are good to go for? I'm relatively new to the game and don't really know what to go for. I thought tenacity was the go-to tank stat but you have materia for Direct Hit and i'd like to know why
I see you popping a lot of mitigations and i am wondering if as a PLD, you can afford putting that much ramparts as MT since you have less CDs than other classes ? I really like your videos as a new player and they helped a lot in improving. I've been on the game since 2 months, started e5s practice in the last few days and it is slowly improving probably gonna clear soon but looking at how you did it made me wonder if i should use my CDs more like this.
I hate E6S fight as a melee. All the tanks randomly rotating the boss here. I always cry when I fail positionals so I need some tissues if I'm pugging E6S. For tanks it's the standard to always keep the boss north but sometimes it's annoying as hell. After Garuda and Ifrit fused together you could just keep the directional of the boss and just pull the boss to middle. Recently the worst offender of this thing is Ruby where the boss will always face south for mechanics in first phase, but tanks always rotate it back to north for no reason at all. I'm luckily blessed with one of the best tank ever in my static but in this downtime we don't play together so I'm doomed to do PF. I salute to you to keep the boss in the middle for E5S.
yo lynx, got the same mouse as you, how did you set up your scimitar icue so it auto spams your abilities while you hold the button. i can't figure it out. please help me senpai Edit: waaaaait, i think i figured it out. You had all your mouse buttons as macros with repeat constantly while button is pressed. Fuck me, i've had mine remapped instead of macros but there is no repeat option when you remap them. I've always thought macros introduced delays so I didn't use them until now.
I kinda imagined this would happen. I hear content creators lament over and over how they pretty much screwed the raid if they mess up their rotation, but then you watch the fight and something ALWAYS go sideways. So it seems to me familiarity > pixel perfect play
I just hit 80 Drk and am going through story to finish up but watching this video scares the hell out of me for end game content lol wtf is going on? all these glowing numbers and letters? what do they mean? are they put up by the players? or do they just appear?
would you ever make a video on why you switched to ffxiv over wow? if i'm correct i think i remember you saying you played wow before this but i could be wrong, or the differences in high level raiding in ffxiv vs wow or something like that :)
Well as I am new player I shouldn't feel like a shit but Im feeling like a shit player lmao my goal is being able to run savages before this quarantine
What’s your personal opinion on 2.40 vs 2.42? I tried to ask multiple times on the balance what the difference is but never really got a conclusive answer, it’s just „check resources“ which doesn’t actually explain the difference..
It depends on the tier and the fights. For shiva I was losing a gcd at 2.41 so I went to 2.40 and got the extra gcd, so that's what I play at. The difference only matters when trying to gain gcds in a fight.
Man I don't dare to do savage. As a more casual player this looks really complicated to me but I'm sure it's more natural than it looks once you're used to it. Think I'll just stick to farming allegory for now.

Wow that's the nicest comment I've ever read. Thank you so much :')
Best comment to describe my thoughts too. Nice!
Yeah I agree with Akuma your vids really helpful.
Damn, learned quite a lot on cool down management. Something no one seem to explain on youtube at all.
You're such a respectable savage tier tank, real glad to see someone knowing what to do, being smart and communicative about it while also being friendly and respectful to new players without babying them

Holy hell this was great and a treat to watch. I’m definitely gonna rewatch this over and over until I get super comfortable like you do. Just got into savage raiding and this video is a godsend for me
Watching your videos have given me the motivation to continue to optimize my GNB and DRK thru the Savages.
I believe in you
yeah love rewatching this to improve my tank play, it's so great to be able to hear your motivation behind every decision thx so much man

Great video!
Thank you!
Party finder runs (I find) are typically harder than static runs, there are plenty of parties still looking for players - give it a try!
@@Rob6990 eh trying to find a party this late into the tier is gonna be a little rough, but def not impossible
dude i really needed this video as i’m starting e5s tomorrow thank you so much i hope u make more tank commentary videos like this one
this is the kind of content i need, especially because im not good at reading logs, and im a derp tank main. ive learned so much from this already, thanks man
looking forward for 7s and 8s episode!
Learned quite a bit, will definitely rewatch later. Kudos for being able to talk while performing so well!
I love the gameplay videos like this. Maybe do each of it in detail for each tank class?

You sir, just earned yourself another sub. Keep up the great work! It's helping a lot of people.
I hope you do more of these play by play videos. This is my favorite video in your channel
ur ability to raid while explaining every single decision ur making and maintaining awareness of everything going on is mind blowing holy crap
Honestly I’ve been trying to clear e5s for the past two weeks and last night we got to enrage. I’ve been struggling since we’ve been having to pug the last few members. Hey Lynx, love your content! One of my favorite FF players as a tank main. I believe I ran into you yesterday in Weeping City of Mhach and I was so hyped lol. Anyways, keep up the awesome content!
You did! I was running mhach with no hud last night to get footage for an upcoming video!

How you commentated through that blew my mind, i can barely reply to the Mrs whilst running Keeper of the lake 😂😂
IT WAS REALLY HARD
Thank you sooo much for this top notch content. Always learned something from your videos. Really appreciate it & keep em coming
Thanks, will do!
Top tier content!! Recently reached the endgame as a new player and switched to gnb after clearing msq with dragoon and tbh havent looked back. Your videos helped me a loot esp the UI one and this on proper cooldown management and such keep it up, you earned yourself a sub.
Thanks for making a video like this. I feel.alot of people should watch this b4 raids
This is good content. Great vid so far, I'll have to watch the WAR part a bit later.
Loving all the content you're putting out.
Keep it up man!
Appreciate it!
Great video. Not much else to day I'm too much of a noob to understand half this XD I liked the flashy colors and big numbers though :)
I know a proper mitigation is important but I dint know it was this crazy
Great video
omg u really did the video . im gonna enjoy this .
I'm glad!
I'm not even a tank but I wanna play it now. I found my tank dad before I knew it, now I must find my melee dad. Keep up the cool content!
Thanks! Will do!
Last video you had to point out your sub vs views, sometimes I forget about the sub button so thanks xD. Awesome video btw!
I get anxious watching this and thinking about healing this since I main AST now. Jesus christ.
Good job tho thanks!
Hey lynx can you do a video on managing a static, like tips and stuff like that? Your videos are the best and you have alottt of knowledge about that kind of stuff
As a baby tank scared to play anything other than dnc for savage, thanks for the videos! its a lot less scary when ur a god at the game lol
I was just wondering how I could optimize my damage and cooldown management further when I did reclears on Tuesday, nice video!
Glad I could help!
Awesome vid. Meanwhile I’m still trying to clear this for a month
LMAOO two of my tea static friends are in that e5s
I hope they're not those who died near the end :D
Lynx, you’re super cool dude. I hope we meet up on PF or in the open world someday!
I have no idea what’s going on 🤣, I’m fairly new and this shows I have so much to learn still 😫

Btw, what was your sprint macro? And your inner release macro? Why not just use regular sprint and inner release?
You arrange your bars almost exactly like I do mine.
As someone who just started ... This is a lot
Nice tact’s man.
I can see 3 of my friends in their haha (Nin, WHM, SUmmoner)
What kind of things do you look for and try when figuring out optimal strategies for raid content?
If they're easy and safe but give good melee uptime
Is there a way to tell which attacks & auto attacks of the bosses do magic or physical damage? Or is there a site where you can look it up?
good shit!
Thanks
What would you recommend for tackling this savage raid as a warrior with all crit and dir hit materia?

I really like your videos as a new player and they helped a lot in improving. I've been on the game since 2 months, started e5s practice in the last few days and it is slowly improving probably gonna clear soon but looking at how you did it made me wonder if i should use my CDs more like this.
If you don't need a cooldown in the next 90-120 seconds then it's free to pop. That's how I think about it.
@@NamesLynx Okay i see thanks for the answer, that will come with more practice then !
In E5S Fury 14 how can you tell if the boss is going North or South that early? I always have to wait until he actually jump
I salute to you to keep the boss in the middle for E5S.
yo lynx, got the same mouse as you, how did you set up your scimitar icue so it auto spams your abilities while you hold the button. i can't figure it out. please help me senpai
Edit: waaaaait, i think i figured it out. You had all your mouse buttons as macros with repeat constantly while button is pressed. Fuck me, i've had mine remapped instead of macros but there is no repeat option when you remap them. I've always thought macros introduced delays so I didn't use them until now.
I'm very inexperienced in raiding in FFXIV. Could anyone tell me what is the role of the offtank, specifically on these fights that we saw here?
can I ask about your DRK melds?
yo are those the same shirt and pants from the stream WeirdChamp PepeLaugh
I kinda imagined this would happen. I hear content creators lament over and over how they pretty much screwed the raid if they mess up their rotation, but then you watch the fight and something ALWAYS go sideways.
So it seems to me familiarity > pixel perfect play
How does one get that damage meter? I am a new player and I am curious how much damage I am doing as a tank.
Yea I'll make some wow related videos when shadowlands comes out so i can catch the hype train
@@NamesLynx alright sweet
@@NamesLynx also love the videos as always keep up the good work!
What kind of dps meter is this? I really want one to see how I'm performing in dungeons and raids
Well as I am new player I shouldn't feel like a shit but
Im feeling like a shit player lmao my goal is being able to run savages before this quarantine
Lynx Kameli Ah I see, so the damaged Id lose by melding sps is made up for with potency in GCDs then? And thanks for the videos really enjoy them!
Man I don't dare to do savage. As a more casual player this looks really complicated to me but I'm sure it's more natural than it looks once you're used to it. Think I'll just stick to farming allegory for now.
Savage is actually not too bad, I just take it super seriously and try to play the best that I can. I take it a step further I guess
Would you do a dps and heal version?
Potentially if the viewership is good
