Its nice to see they actually made Ares good at fighting unlike some of the old myths. Just wish they made him less of a jerk for once.
Interesting enough, Ares supports women and hasn't raped anyone for that matter. His relationships were all consensual. He still thrives in the needless bloodshed of young soldiers though.
In most stories/accounts/popular media (I,e God of war, Injustice Gods among Us) Ares is portrayed that way - I thought it was accurate seeing him act like that

Ares, in ancient Greece, was rarely worshiped. Of the Olympians, he had the least followers and temples built in his honour. (Most were of ancient cults). It was frowned upon to worship Ares, as Greeks valued philosophy, peace, and wisdom.
Ares is often fueled by blood shed and violence if war, so him being supportive of these rare times of war is very much so in character for him. He's perceived as the "problem" child between Zeus and Hera; they love him, but he can be a handful at times -- or a lot 😅

In the myths they usually depict him as bloodthirsty and essentially all the bad parts of war. Kind of wish they made him more than just that. Granted Athena isn't exactly a paragon of virtue in the old myths either.
Most gods on mount Olympus actually disliked Ares and preferred Athena over him. Aphrodite is the only one who loved him deeply.

This is Ares's Irony. He always starts war, but doesn't know how to end it. He wanted Heron to yeild, but we know heron will rathen die than to yeild. That's why wars have no answers but worst consequences where winners remain, and dead people to cheer for them.

Aphrodite was the only deity that loved him for who he really was, physically and emotionally. Zeus never forced Aphrodite to remarry another god ever again for she loved Ares from the start.She was the only one who was able to stop Ares's anger and calm his burning heart.Both of them were constantly laughed by the other gods and misunderstood, underrated.Hephaestus was the jerk who cursed Harmonia because his wife was forced to marry him so he punished the goddess of harmony instead.Hephaestus was lucky Aphrodite didn't bare him grudge and resentment.She can extinguish love from all hearts, of mortals and immortals.
He's generally not supposed to be "evil" though his nature as the god of war certainly makes him seem that way at times.

The least Aphrodite could have done was explain to him as he’s a cool but mistreated guy in Greek mythology. Those guys that do all the work or supports people but always get friendzoned or cheated on. But she just kept cheating on him and giving him the cold shoulder when it was Zeus that arranged the agreement.
You gotta a point. I see what happened in S1 as realistic. Zeus has cheated on Hera multiple times despite his wedding vows and just “expects” her to let it go. Why should she like Heron and his mother? And why should their son? She’s interfered too much but her hatred of Heron was justified.
And which kid would like seeing their mother get cheated on multiple times? With immortal step sibglings at his side? And in Greek mythology Ares was always seen as that crazy, violent guy.
I love how Heron just completely Robin Hood’s Ares’s arrows in archery lol I would love to thank Apollo and Artemis for teaching him how to do that and Heron being a good student for listening to the twins. I like Ares but sometimes he just acts like an over grown man child.

Honestly I understand Ares rage. He is the first and only born of Zeus and Hera, so all the first pression was on him, and his father still didn’t appreciate him, while he probably praised all the other children he had with other women. Hera probably spoiled him bc she was literally the only person who loved and cared for him, bc his father was apparently too busy for the child he had with his wife but wasn’t so busy when it come to have others with nymphs or mortals.
Probably because of this Ares grew attached to his mother and started to fear and dislike his father (rightly)

Even in the scene at his funeral where Zeus talks, if you notice he praise all his children, but not Ares, instead he scold him (at least in italian dub), and what he does after? He say that he’s really proud of Heron.
I don’t know I feel like Zeus was making joke of Ares, like really? I don’t mean that he can’t be proud of Heron, I just hoped that maybe he could say at least a praise to Ares too.
He’s the god of war, he fought multiple wars, he could have say something about his stronger or his will to fight, but no Zeus scolded him.

Yes I do agree that if Zeus had actually showed love, compassion and encouragement (and being an actual father) to Ares from the very beginning when he and Hera had him, he probably wouldn’t be a blood thirsty and arrogant scumbag. But I’m just saying, there is a reason why Zeus can’t stand him. Why? Simply. He’s a product of his mother. Honestly, I like Ares. It is ridiculous the way this series portrayed Hera and Zeus. Hera is depicted as guilty and judged as a jealous madwoman, while Zeus is portrayed as the good husband and good father. 🤢🤮
@@DonghuaTianlong I agree. Sometimes I wished Seraphim was the main protagonist, not Heron. Season 2 gave me a reason to love Seraphim as a protagonist while Heron did almost nothing but follow Zeus' instructions.

And one thing that really bothers me about Blood of Zeus or anything related to the Olympian gods is this fetishization of portraying Zeus as a good husband, father or just a man who loves women too much.
@@DonghuaTianlong Zeus should have been the main antagonist and the father role should have been given to Hades for Seraphim. The second season made me question if the writers like Hades and Seraphim more than Heron and Zeus. I mean Hades and Seraphim stole the spotlights for both seasons compared to Zeus and Heron.
Hades is not manipulating Seraphim as he tried to help him before the whole Elusian stone plotline. He even gave the Lethe waters to Seraphim in a heartbeat even though he lost the competition. Hades was the best Olympian who communicated his points, teachings, and advice.
Season 2 even established Hades as a better leader than Zeus. Zeus may be a good military leader but he was a horrible ruler who ran away from his responsibilities. The irony is that Zeus' qualities are fitting for him to rule the Underworld as a powerful warden (he literally scares every human and monster in Greece) while Hades would have been a better ruler in Olympus (responsible and he reads situations really well).

Hades' relationship with Seraphim really steals the show.
The sad thing will be having to see Zeus and Heron defeat Typhon and come out as great heroes and Zeus being recognized and declared king again in season 3

This god(Ares) already was a god that I didn't like that much since I was a kid. When I started to study greco-roman mythology, I saw a lot of people shitting on him for no reason, committing anochronism, putting their modern view inside of a ancient culture. "Ares is coward, a jerk, weak", bruh....I dont know why this is even an argument. Ares already got beaten by an hero called Diomedes that had assistance from Athena, got beaten by Hercules which is a demigod, got beaten by Athena herself, got beaten by Apollo in a box match, etc. But people forget that Ares already imprisoned a Titan called Cratus in the Tartarus, killed Mimas, Pelorus, Damasen, Halirrhothius and Diorphus. All of them deities. He also repelled Minerva(Athena) once.
