Have you perhaps thought of maybe selling some of your lovely crafts , such as the golden books or maybe some small cross stitched items, like bookmarks? You could even host a crafts evening in a community centre for a small fee, or even in an old aged peoples home once a week, it would on the one hand help you financially and on the other hand really brighten up and bring your amazing talent and energy for everyone to engage in! I think it could be an amazing side hustle! You are such a talented ,entertaining lady ❤ Sending you lots of blessings and every good wish xx
I have though about that but the tax laws in California are really strict and you can't just sell stuff without setting up a tax ID and paying sales tax on everything you sell (or even give away). Unless I was going to full out start a business I think it would be more trouble than it is worth

Karla I totally relate to what you’re going through because I’m in the very same boat. When I had to pay for car repairs recently, I use this company called Sunbit through my dealership where I make monthly payments because I can’t afford it. I guess because you’re paying privately that wouldn’t be an option. I wonder if your mechanic friend would take monthly payments? I had to retire earlier than planned because of my health. I had to take out my 401(k) a very long time ago. I have no savings and after I pay my bills, there’s just a little bit left for things like gas for my car, household essentials, and I can not even go out to dinner anymore. I really feel for you. I know exactly how you feel, there’s just no money for any thing extra like vacations, etc. I am alone too!!!! Nobody to lean on. I wish I had some answers for you. I love that color blue on you. I love Kitty Litter-it’s adorable. I kept looking for your video yesterday but I was looking for #240!! All of a sudden it popped up today. I’m glad you got to see the family. I feel for you Karla. I am in the same boat with you. My mom passed away last month. I am now having to pay the mortgage now. I still have my.bills. I have about $60 left for groceries for the whole month. Impossible. If I ever get any extra, maybe I will send you some to st least help with your shipping. We can hope!! I have been in the recliner for the past month. I do dishes and very little cooking. I gave been stitching though. Live uou Ksrla. I hope things start working out for you very soon. Oh my gosh Karla! What a stressful week for you. Car issues are such a hassle! I hope it doesn't cost you a huge fortune. Mom and I nearly got scammed on a rental unit last week and I think I lost my Michigan driver's license or left it in the rental unit as I was not expecting to have to take a photo of it at the time. I have spent most of the week looking at rental units online as mom and I want to move closer to Kristal and Eric since we are getting tired of the drive every other week, which is at least an hour each way with a lot of traffic. The only thing that alerted me to the first place being a scam was the next day when we went to put a deposit down it had went from putting the money in "his" bank to only a wire transfer to "his attorney's" bank. Such lazy ass people who take unaware people's money. At the second place "of his" that we looked at, a neighbor across the street told us that 3 guys claimed they had sent the guy $3500 as a deposit and could not access it then to get into it. I hope you get decent news on your car. and it doesn't end up costing a small fortune and that your rent doesn't go up at all or very much. Thanks for hosting the Zoom. Take care. Hi Karla I am so sorry that you are having so much distress. I was sitting here thinking that sometimes people reach out to Go Fund me and I think it could possibly help you with your car. There have been times where people in the stitching community had to reach out for help and I am sure that there are generous people out here to help, me included.
My intention is not to sound like a jerk, but why don't you consider moving out of California? You have skills that'll transfer into other jobs. There are other areas of the country where the cost of living is lower. And depending on the age of the car (you mentioned it was a hybrid) it might be more cost effective in the long run to get something newer. (Have your repairs exceeded what the yearly cost on a newer model?) And that's all the accountant in me speaking. I am sorry you're having a rough time of it and the car is being useless to you. I've felt trapped before, far from extended family and not making enough money to really do anything about it. I eventually made a plan, took control of my finances (I'm a bad impulse spender), and was able to move halfway across country to where family is. (Just realized that I moved out of CA...) Feeling like I was working towards a goal helped me back then, even with some set backs. I pray you find the strength to find your plan (whatever it may be) and carry it out.
You have excellent points but although I do have lots of skills - my licenses are all California based. I will move out of California eventually but it is just not really feasable right now
