Hi, have you tried taking jewellery photos with this box and does it work? I need solutions for both jewellery and loose gems (mostly loose gems) but dont want to have to invest in both boxes.

Interesting but I feel a actual camera and lighting setup offers a better option with more variety. Even if you want to use your phone as a camera you can get small LED video lights and a inexpensive turntable and actually shoot the product on different backgrounds, angles or in a box or showcase.
