Thanks for watching everyone! :) Here's the 4 other videos I put together from my trip to New Zealand and I’ll add more in coming weeks: Aoraki / Mt Cook to Queenstown: ua-cam.com/video/xEf8u6cuyU0/v-deo.html Milford Sound to Queenstown: ua-cam.com/video/fKOYm9Njnss/v-deo.html Queenstown to Milford Sound: ua-cam.com/video/-HswtFBJTyo/v-deo.html Queenstown to Sydney (Air NZ A320 NEO): ua-cam.com/video/oO0ysPn6MgU/v-deo.html
Milford Sound to Queenstown on a sunny Spring day. Surely one of the most spectacular parts of creation on planet earth - snow covered mountains, turquoise blue lakes and green fields. Wonderful 4 K footage Paul.
Mr Stewart your music choice was on point here. Great footage, breathtaking scenery amazingly well shot. Next time ur at LHR or LGW i'll buy a fully flex ticket to meet you in the lounge and congratulate you on this near cinematic bit of videography!
The most spectacular mountainous scenery I have ever see. And I've been to the Swiss Alps. You were gifted with a very smooth flight, a colleague of mine was on a flight in the same area that was so turbulent the pilot couldn't read the instruments.
Learned to fly there and had nearly ten years it the area and took it all for granted and now miss it dearly. Man it can rough in there so you got a good day to do it.
I live in Christchurch, South Island, New Zealand, and I never think, "oh yeah, whatever" when watching this on video but in real life, I never tire of driving and flying in these areas. There is something so powerful about the Southern Alps that leaves you fully aware of just how new this land is. For those who've never seen 'The Remarkables' (the mountain range one sees from Queenstown), the powerful, seemingly razor edged range is something absolutely astonishing to behold. What an amazing land on this even more extraordinary planet. Thanks Paul.
Yep it's pretty beautiful. 2 days after I did this flight I rented a Mustang and drove from Queenstown to Milford just for fun. It's a great drive! :D Thanks Anna
Stunning scenery and as mentioned music to match !! Can you imagine J R R Tolkein doing a flight like this over Middle Earth ? Not all who wander are lost !! I recall flying out of Queenstown many years ago and the view as we climbed was sensational !! Wonderful stuff Paul and well done !!
Paul, this is one of your best. Thank you so much for taking the trip and sharing your experience with us - loved this view point. Appreciated too, the unobtrusive soundtrack, but please don't sideline your unique narrative too often. Hello from this London based NZer : - )
100% agree however a pint cost a hell of a lot more in Norks territory so you obvs get a black mark for such things. Ex HM Marine so I know and love your country well and with much love but the Kiwi's will let me buy a can from a store on a sunday for under £10 -
Cheers Margot. Hope you check out my other flights around NZ, including this route but in the other direction. I'll be adding my flight to mt Cook in a few weeks :) a
At least you had a good day with Mitre Peak at the end of the runway of Milford Sound airport not covered in cloud. By the way, how did you get to Queenstown - Qantas, Virgin Australia or Air NZ?
Love the footage, I have done this recently in a Sting S4. You did throw me with the designation. MFN and ZQN ! Locally we use NZMF and NZQN looked it up and it is an IATA vs ICAO thing....you learn something every day ! Thanks for the video
Much more beautiful than flying over Greensboro, NC with Jeb Brooks in a 30-year-old MD-20/20. Seriously, one would be hard-pressed to find another place on this planet more spectacular and unspoiled. Might be the one place I'd trade for my home in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of the Southern Appalachians.
Hey mate, I've visited Te Anu a few times before although this time I only drove through it (rented a Mustang and drove to Milford = most amazing 8hrs of my life haha).
That wonderful place is literally on our doorstep...hard to believe it’s so close (over the ditch) and is an exceptional mountainous region of the world. You can surely see how Peter Jackson was inspired to create “Lord of the Rings” in a land with scenery like that...
So beautiful, but the takeoff is incredibly dangerous...one hiccup out of that engine and there is a period of time where the pilot would have no option other than to put it down in the water. I'd be holding my breath until a little altitude was gained. Thank you so much for these amazing pictures.
I must admit that I did consider my mortality when flying these routes in a single engine plane. There's nowhere to put it down... :o Still, the views made up for it :)
@@PaulStewartAviation This videohas me considering making the journey from Louisiana USA to New Zealand. If there's a more beautiful place on earth that what you just experienced in this video, I don't know where it is.
Hey Paul, how will you beat this? Flying in NZ SI is so unbelievable. Getting into ZQN is such a wonderful experience, so technical, so precise, so Remarkable! Your trip reminded me of a charter I did out of Mt Cook onto a glazier. Impulsive, but the fun and snow angels that Liz, Steph, Christina, and Robert left behind were gold.
Cheers Hamish. Yeh the views were pretty impressive although I haven't yet had a chance to check out my footage from flights to Mt Cook and the Tasman Glacier so we'll see. :)
oh sorry I may have misunderstood your message. The actual route was normal for this particular flight but it would only really be flown for tourists as there's no other reason to travel between Queenstown and Milford Sound (supplies...etc would be trucked in).
Cheers Kristin. You mean Queenstown and not Queensland? :) I flew with True South for both Milford Sound and Mt Cook flights (I haven't edited the Mt Cook video yet).
Yes yes, but did the crew welcome you on board with your name and serve pre departure drinks. Was the IFE up to your expectation, and was the menu rubbish?

Absolutely fabulous I did this flight abut 25 years ago and was just as good.
Yep if you get good weather it's an amazing experience

Great work Paul the Tourist board should buy this video from you as it is a brilliant promo and I just loved the footage.
hahaha cheers mate :) I'm literally editing another video on my flight to Tasman Galcier which should be online in a few weeks.
At least you had a good day with Mitre Peak at the end of the runway of Milford Sound airport not covered in cloud. By the way, how did you get to Queenstown - Qantas, Virgin Australia or Air NZ?
Hey Chris, I usually fly across the Ditch with Qantas but this time I flew with NZ in their A320 NEO. I've uploaded a video from that flight :)
Stunning views!

Is this more of a scenic route or is it just a normal commuter route
Just the standard route I believe :)
Standard!
Lucky people who get to do that trip routinely
oh sorry I may have misunderstood your message. The actual route was normal for this particular flight but it would only really be flown for tourists as there's no other reason to travel between Queenstown and Milford Sound (supplies...etc would be trucked in).
Awesome footage!! Currently planning a trip to Queensland. What company did you use for this flight?
Cheers Kristin. You mean Queenstown and not Queensland? :) I flew with True South for both Milford Sound and Mt Cook flights (I haven't edited the Mt Cook video yet).
Amazing footage. How long is one way flight?
Cheers - ah not sure, maybe 40-60 mins?
A 15 minute flight or a 10 hour car ride.
Probably about 5ish hours :) In a Mustang :)
I did it last year and it would be less than 5 hours but only down to about 4 or so
And then, fully exhausted, the “Grand Architect” asked the Angels to bring Him a flute of “grape juice” 🥂 to celebrate His creation 👍🏻
:)
Awesome Flew a C172 out of Queenstown 1992
Cheers mate. Queenstown would have been a much quieter city back then!!
Yes yes, but did the crew welcome you on board with your name and serve pre departure drinks. Was the IFE up to your expectation, and was the menu rubbish?
haha
What time of year did you fly?
September last year :)
Allen Cynthia Moore Larry Rodriguez Jeffrey
