    I just left my first retreat in Spain one month ago, and it is not that changed my life because my life is basically the same, but even better, it changed myself to a different and better person. The way I experience every moment is totally different. So at last it changed my life too.

    I also liked how vipassana is explained in a very scientific straightforward way. I think it becomes more digestible for some people that way as well. I live in California and we are pretty luck in the sense that we have 3 large centers and 1 more being built soon.

      Yes, it comes from the east but it's explained in a really down to earth way so that everyone can fully grasp it. Although all the chants were a bit too much for me...

    There are two complimentary movements which lead to fulfillment
    A) Downward descent of the grace
    B) Upward Ascent of the individual
    Vipassana is concerned with B) , its perfection.

    Hey man , really appreciate taking the time to share your experience. I’m gonna be going to one in a weeks time , I was wondering if u had any advice on dealing w after the course , I’m worried I will have too much of a pressure to behave a certain way - for example , do you engage in drinking at all ? Or self pleasure , I have in my past and have had a weird relationship w it at times, my aim Is hopefully to use this as a reset but should I have that as a goal ? Because if it all fails , will my whole system break down afterwards as it was relying on me changing and not engaging in such activités ? Apologies if I haven’t been that clear in what I’m saying , hopefully u get the gist of what I’m trying to say

    I want to understand this idea of seeing things more clearly or as they really are because the assumption being made here is that most of us are not seeing things clearly or as they really are and only after going through something like Vipassana meditation can anyone achieve this level of wisdom. Are there people out there who do see things clearly without having meditated? How does one know if they are one of those people?
    If we are conditioned to live and function in modern society in a way that clouds our reality than simply being aware of that fact is one way to see more clearly. I am in no way undercutting the value of Vipassana meditation. The testimonials are overwhelmingly positive about its transformative effects. Its just that in my case I would like to know for example how clouded my view of reality is compared to those around me and beyond.

  • @waykee3

    I would probably go crazy because I just came back from schizophrenia after forcing myself to be back to the matrix.
    I went too deep into my mind that I saw reality as fluid and there was no anchor like I was just in a dream and it feels like I died.
    Maybe it only works for ordinary people and not for people who are by nature self-reflective.

    • @kartikjoshi889
      @kartikjoshi889 Рік тому +1

      ooh i see what you're concerned of, to be honest you shouldn't worry much about it. You've lived with attachments for 28 years, they're not going away in one retreat for sure hahah.
      also i see what you're afraid of, and it's totally okay. Detachment isn't just going to take the fun out of everything, what you're afraid of isn't detachment, it's not enjoying anymore. Detachment infact brings in love and beauty, you finally learn to love which is beyond attachment. But that's not something you'll know in just a day, it'll take years to be honest.
      So if you ask me, I'm no professional ofc, i would say that you question and doubt completely, find answers and clear all your doubts before going in for a retreat. This is a new way you're going to learn, it's the way of Dhamma, it leaves no room for doubt. So question, doubt as much as you can and when you feel just about right, you go for it! :')

@@Pragya_453 That's a really good question! To be honest, and following the teachings at Vipassana I think these sensations are part of our sankaras when released. Forcing people to meditate that long is brainwashing, this makes Vipassana a cult.
    if you are desperate, go for it, even better is to stay grounded and enjoy ( shorter ) mediation retreats where you can socialize with others and have a healthy exchange of ideas and philosophies accompanied by men and women.

    • @RobertoVolta
      @RobertoVolta  5 місяців тому +1

      Hi Ron, I don't disagree with you in the fact of joining shorter retreats, but you are getting wrong the point of the Vipassana retreat.
      First, no one is forcing you to go, this already doesn't make it a cult.
      Second, it's a commitment, 10 days in silence meditating really force you to go within, all you see is the parts of yourself, there's no cult leader, but you and what's within you.
      It's kind of wrong saying that it's not good for you as this is exactly what we need as society, which is quieting the mind and going within. If you join a shorter retreat where you exchange philosophies it's just a different thing, focus and point.
      You can also leave whenever you want.
      Maybe I would invite you to watch the video again because it seems like you missed the point.
