  • WEST PENNINE MOORS WALK FEATURING DARWEN MOOR AND THE JUBILEE TOWER
    “Destination of Darwen”
    Filmed 30th August 2016
    Post-production completed 7th September 2016
My preceding walks exploring the West Pennine Moors, along with their interesting towers and monuments, had wetted my appetite for more of the same. I manage to find another walk in the area, this time on Darwen Moor, again with a fascinating tower, only this time I can actually explore the inside of it…..
Filmed in the West Pennine Moors in the county of Lancashire. Locations include Darwen Moor, Earnsdale Reservoir, India Mill Chimney and Jubilee Tower.
Written, researched, directed, camera and sound, edited and music by Patrick Leach.
Any other names credited in this film, i.e. Bob Morgan and Martin Roy, are pseudonyms, which I used at the time of making this film. However, I no longer use these pseudonyms as I want viewers to be clear that my films are completely my own work.

Thank you too Frank and Lee. It was quite funny when you mentioned Darwen Moor when you commented on one of my earlier videos because I knew I would be filming there very soon. It only seemed right to mention you whilst I was there. Take care, Patrick :-)

Patrick what a great walk,so impressed with the Jubilee tower and love the fact you can go up it any time,in a lot of places there would have been an iron gate at the bottom, good on the Darwen Council or whoever made that decision,I'v never even heard of Darwen but it looked quite a big place from the top of the tower,I'm surprised Fred Dibnah didn't get to that mill chimney though,he was a Lancashire lad,I used to love watching him and have all his dvd's.
Looked a great walk this with good paths and not too strenuous and interesting along the way.
Thanks for taking us along with you Patrick,as always a superb film in every way,by the time I'm fighting fit I will have watched all these and you have helped no end along the way, thank you so much.
    Pete.

This was quite a short walk, so an easy one to film with plenty of time to feature the tower in detail. Like you I hadn't heard of it until shortly before I went there to film this, but it's another lovely place to visit. I hope when you're more able you can see some of these places for yourself Pete. Cheers, Patrick :)

Lovely Lancashire countryside there Patrick. A lovely walk you had up to that totally amazing Jubilee Tower. It's a magnificent building of the most unusual architecture, and I can imagine that on an extremely clear you would be able to see into Wales, Isle of Man, Derbyshire, etc. You did have a lovely view overlooking Darwen, but another stunning structure is that massive 300 feet tall chimney next to the mill. That's some height! Anyhow, many thanks for this presntation, Patrick.
