  • PEAK DISTRICT WALK FEATURING HATHERSAGE, STANAGE EDGE AND HIGGER TOR
    "Heights of Hathersage"
    Filmed 3rd November 2014
    Post-production completed 14th December 2014
It is autumn 2014 and after an unusually warm October temperatures have dropped as November starts. However, on the day I decide to explore Hathersage in the Peak District and the nearby Stanage Edge the sun shines making it a very pleasant day indeed.
Filmed in the Peak District in the counties of Derbyshire and South Yorkshire. Locations include Hathersage, Stanage Edge, Higger Tor and Carl Wark.
Written, researched, directed, camera and sound, edited and music by Patrick Leach.
Any other names credited in this film, i.e. Bob Morgan and Martin Roy, are pseudonyms, which I used at the time of making this film. However, I no longer use these pseudonyms as I want viewers to be clear that my films are completely my own work.

I love this one Patrick. I parked at Higger Tor and hiked the other way to High Neb taking in Stanage Pole too. Beautiful cinematography. The music is really catchy. Really soothing. Thanks for sharing.

That was some hill climbing there Patrick ,Hathersage is a place I ve travelled through on route to Sheffield , for a football match years ago , you don't get the views of any of the edges from the trains ... so it was great to see them here ... it looked tough under foot I must say ,and looking at the different light shades it looked like you were out most of the day ...Fantastic views once again on this journey .....Thank you for sharing them ... It certainly is a bit of a climb on Stanage from Hathersage, but definitely worth the walk. I started filming in Hathersage that day just before 9am, then by the time I had done the last shot it was just after 3pm, so it took me the average time of around the minimum of 6 hours shooting. Thanks again for watching Frank and Lee. Cheers, Patrick :-)

I remember visiting a garden festival inHathersage, also bought a walking pole and saw Little Johns grave. An interesting connection to Jane Eyre, Charlotte Brontë visited the vicars daughter and gave her name to Jane Eyre from that visit,. I’ve also walked Carl Wark at least round it. It’s one of my favourite villages in The Peak District. 4:59

I'v visited Hathersage and done this walk several times,so it was great to see it again with all the information you give us.
Loved what you did with the music, the now familiar theme tune that's stuck in my head, changed to a gentler tempo and style.
Loved this film, and your company taking us with you on this walk, thanks Patrick,
    All the best,
    Pete.

I visit Hathersage quite regularly as I live not far away, lovely place. The music you hear is one of my Peak District themes, a slower version used here as you have noticed. Thanks for watching Pete :)

Hi Patrick, I came upon your channel about a week ago and have relished watching your films...one or two per evening so far! I love the pace of your productions and their relaxed atmosphere. As quite a serious musician in a previous life -many years ago- I can really aprreciate your musical/compositional ability and many of the themes you've written are lovely; in this instance the one that starts at 11.15 is absolutely beautiful. I thought I'd comment on this particular film as it brought back so many wonderful memories of times I spent climbing on Stanage Edge (and most of the other Eastern edges) and, of course, walking along its top on Autumnal days just like the one you enjoyed here.
Your Rutland Water film was also very poignant for me as I lived not too far from there before moving to Snowdonia five years ago - obviously, I took great interest in your Welsh videos!
I just want to say how much I am enjoying joining you on your walks and hope to see you (virtually at least) back in Wales at some point soon.
One question though, who is Bob Morgan?
    All the best
    Nick

Hi Nick, thank you so much for your comments and kind words. The music is a very important aspect of my films, as I'm sure you will appreciate, and for me is the best part of making them. The theme you refer to is actually my "Peak District theme", which is used in several of the other videos I have made in that area. I always try to compose a different theme for different places, so for example I have themes for the Peak District, Yorkshire Dales, Lake District, North York Moors and Snowdonia to name but a few! The Harlech video contained my Snowdonia theme and then I used a very different version of it to a smaller degree in the Ffestiniog video. Wonderful place for you to live now :-)
Bob Morgan is actually me by the way, as are all the other names credited at the end of every film. My reasons for these pseudonyms is that I didn't want to keep repeating my own name in every single credit ! :-) Cheers, Patrick :-)
