After the 1984 olympics all the gymnasts did a gymnastics gala tour with Mary Lou Retton and Kristie Phillips and Phoebe Mills were on this tour must have been 1985 but yeh Kristie was doing introducing that back bend mount even back then i remember the whole audience went whoa lol. It is a shame that she missed the 1988 olympics team by mere points or she was the left behind alternate. She was promoted as the next Mary lou, All because of a growth spurt she had hit and the media picked up on it and yeh comments made at the gymnastics meet of how she could not adjust to her new height and hip rounding, the weight gain, oh it was bad then she kind of dissapeared for awhile college i guess and reamerged as an adult and did gymnastics again as just for fun.
There was an exhibition in 1987 that my mom TAPED OVER ON PURPOSE in which she was in a yellow body suit and NAILED THIS ENTIRE ROUTINE! THEN she won the 1987 US CHAMPIONSHIPS! She was NOT the "New MaryLou." But she was original af!
I agree 100%.as a teenager back in the '80's i thought she had a great smile,face,and figure, and marvelous gymnastic skills and anti-gravity abilities that certainly rivaled Mary Lou,and exuberance to.quite amazing indeed.
i miss those originality points....

She was also competing here with a broken wrist - I think her wrist was broken and didn't heal properly from 1985 on through 1988.
