Float fishing with maggots - Totally Awesome Fishing Show
Вставка
- Опубліковано 8 жов 2024
- The Totally Awesome fishing show hits another day ticket water, with Graeme & Mike Pullen using 13 foot match rods and small floats to locate occupants of the fishery. They use maggots, and pass on lots of tips on how to fish, without a tackle plug in sight! As Graeme says "it's techniques that really catch the fish, not the tackle". They catch plenty of fish in just a few hours to show their simple methods work. A true reflection of what Britain's fishing was like 40 years ago when fishing with a float was the most used method, Totally Awesome.

You saying "just one last cast" is like us here watching your videos saying "one last video" 😂 great job keep up with the good work
i think this maybe the best fishing video i have watched all across UA-cam, as a beginner 5 years ago, i watched this and it inspired me more and more to want to go out there fishing, thanks Ta Fishing!
Now that's a proper days fishing!
And this is all what I call fishing !!! I'm fishing since I was 6 y.o using float fishing, maggots, corn, bread . I can't understand anglers using heavy rods, casting in the middle of the lake and sitting for hours, watching telly, reading books , playing with phone .... match rod , float, maggots and lots of fun!!
Same as we fished on this lake film. Small float. You could fish straight under your rod tip and throw loose feed in more accurately. Make sure you have your reel drag set light though.
No,its out near Basingstoke,north Hampshire
19:57 the dorsal fin isn't upright the pelvic fins that means it's not a roach for sure.
It can be a hybrid ofcourse, but it can be a rudd as well - just with a pale colors,
It was a pale Rudd.
Soulware3D not a rudd look at the mouth
Buuutiful common carp at the end ... Bloody good to land in 20 mins on a match rod ... Hats off to you
22:42 anyone else see the stray live maggot - "Jeffrey! You're alive!"
I love fishing so much, but I haven't been in years, hopefully I'll be going this week, so excited
Yeh ... Good old coarse fishing techniques ... Cracking show ... Tight lines lads ;)
It would be great to spend a day or two fishing with this man 👍🏻
They are both good fish, especially the tench. Well done. Try same method, but loose feed plenty of red maggots, using double reds on the hook, or tip it with a brandling. Feed little and often.
The float is an old Middy Canal Grey waggler. I used to use them myself. Awesome little float.☺
Whole week of shore films starting from tomorrow night,(17 June 2013) 7pm UK time. We hope to nail up a new film each night for five nights, getting better with each one. Last film is an epic hour-plusser. Thanks watching and spread the word over there. Lots more to come.
All over, but if you mean one of our favourite spots it would be Watmore Farm Fishery, on the Hants/Surrey border.
Location of the shoals first. Then prebait that area the night before. Fish worms(brandlings) or double red maggots over the top. But location first is the key.
Love your old videos! i learn so much! Thank you sir!
Look for overhangs, lilies, trees and bushes on the far bank. Carp tend to favour the far bank to keep away from the activity on the towpath. Floating baits, if allowed, can give you an indication if any carp are at home.
Gents great VID, love the honesty about you both
Yes, you can make maggots. They are OK to handle as you buy them from fishing tackle shops.
Back in the summer, Merry Christmas to you too
Tiny lakes, out in sticks outside Basingstoke, which is in Hampshire. Can't remember name.Ashlet ? Ashford ? or something. Was £7 a day but gets a lot of pressure in summer. We were lucky,we had a day when only a few anglers there.
I was catching big carp an a small whip right in the margines, boy do they put up a great fight on a whip :)
Bread, sweetcorn, maggots. That's all you need to make a start. Don't be afraid to throw some in,especially the bread as they don't catch carp in the bait box !
I was on my float rod 8 pound main line and 6 pound hook link with a size 14 hook....3 red maggots ! It was a rod length and a half and I caught my pb !!!!! 15.3 !!! I WAS FIGHTING IT FOR 40 minutes!!!! People could see me playing the fish!!! Couldn't believe it !! Amazing !!
Depends on the depths, but they reckon Legering with maggots and a swimfeeder on top of the bars is usually best for the bigger fish. But not if the bars are really shallow. Fish won't go up on them except in low light. Bar needs to be about four feet from the surface ?
Inside of bends, slacks, maybe not the fast water. Might pay you to prebait with free offerings in these places first .Use strong smelling baits. Trout pellets etc. so the scent goes downstream. The carp should smell it and start to investigate. River carp can be a lot trickier than lake carp, but can scrap better. Well worth the wait.
We never know where we will fish next,or whether it is sea/coarse/trout.But you might try to track down a fishing club with a junior section that you could join.It will give you more information .Try your local tackle shop first, and good luck with it.
loving this channel. From fishermen for fishermen, keep up the good work :)
Have never seen,or been to Willow Park Fisheries so cannot pass comment on that one.I have fished and written about Frensham TF if it is the one in the woods past Frensham Ponds.Used to be several small ponds there if I recall.Good to hear you had plenty of action.Get in there before everything freezes over !!
Day ticket water .Think it was called Ashmore ? Ashmoor ? Near Basingstoke,Hampshire. I think we paid £7 a day there ? But it might be different now.
I couldn't advise a make or model, but around 10 feet would be good to start, but don't buy anything too heavy, or too expensive to start with. I use 9 foot Avon rods for almost all my fishing, they only have something like a 1 1/4 lb test curve and are ideal to start with. Make sure you get a small reel as well, like a match reel, and put about 5lb line on it.
Thanks for the quick response. I'll have a trip down to the local tackle shop thats been recommended by a friend. Im over in Nottingham, im not sure if the fishing is as good up here as down your way but ill definitely take what ive learnt from your vids with me and hopefully be successful.
The Phone call Was Hilarious :))
from your local agricultural feed place, if you look at our recent carp fishing with bread video you can pause the video as Graeme lifts up the bran sack and it has the address etc of the bran
i just started fishing i love it caught my first carp what a buzz i dint care bout the size thanks for the video some great tips!
Been fishing 7 years on and off. Still havnt caught a carp 😂🤣😂🤣😂
I'm sorry, I must be living on another planet, but putting groundbait, maggots, bread etc in the water is standard practise for thousands of British freshwater anglers. Its sold in every tackle shop throughout Britain. A multi million pound industry. "Chumming" is the use of chopped/mashed fish used as an attractor in saltwater fishing.Yes,I possibly am stupid, no argument there, but with 50 years of fishing experience I may know a thing or two. I take it you don't go to UK tackle shops very often
If you've watched a lot of Graeme's videos he buys bran and horse feed in large sacks to keep the costs down. He's trying to help the beginners to keep their fishing budgets low.
i love it when you upload longer video's !!!
this is a good wee xmas present. ;)
cheers guys. merry xmas!!!
I had a long break from fishing, but have always loved carping.
i caught my first ever carp on Sunday all thanks to your tips
Awesome! Glad the video helped you!
TAFishing I'm going anglers paradise any tips for there
Alison Needham oo
Yes, the giant catfish are monster fish and give you a great fight
Ryobi used to make an Avon rod designed by John Wilson. I have no idea where to get one as I have had mine donkeys years
small lakes on Hampshire/Berks border. Ash ? something I think it was called
Thanks for the episode enjoyed it!
Cant get enough of Totally Awsome vids. Im brand new to fishing and plan on learning and enjoying 2013 fishing. One question I do have is, in terms of a new starter set-up, rod and reel what would you recommend I purchase? Keep posting these vids guys im learning!
Gets very sticky.Use on rivers as a binding agent. I use it with other baits like bread/bran,not on its own
What lake are you fishing on?
All rods are different. Its just a question of getting used to the different actions. I have no idea how you would make it more comfortable. If not,go back to using the 10 footer.
cool i love float fishing on maggot its the best thanks for your tips
hey I caught a 2lb crushion and a 8 pound tench on this technique can you please let me know what will be good for the winter please
Thanks for sharing
Too easy fishing on commercial’s but enjoyable nice video
I've got a john Wilson and I would really recommend getting
From Hampshire in the UK
just getting back into angling after about 30 years. used Matt Hayes' float fishing tutorial video and caught bugger all. followed TAF and, within an hour, I'd bagged two small perch, two gudgeon and an accidental carp (biggest fish I've ever caught by a country mile!!). plumb the depth and feed the swim... abso-bloody-lutely! wholemeal bread mashed up in water with a couple handfuls on sweetcorn... the future.
Merry Christmas han a happy new year from Denmark. I love your videos and your approach. Well done guys. These videos are, in my oppinion, the best, cosiest and informative fishing videoes on youtube.
Can't remember the name. Think it was on the Hants/Berks borders ?
hope you guys are having an amazing christmas.
Think one was a Ryobi, other is very old, I guess the label worn off ?
19:25 that is a beautiful fish very well done
The Waggler is the name of a float, and is used floatfishing.
i love all of your videos and i have seen all of them
Good fish and great method. What music are you playing at 20.20?
Never fished or heard of any of those ?
what venue is this? looks nice! love this video...floats and maggots account for alot of my fishing!
Done this at me local park, used the bran and sweetcorn pellets etc in my groundbait, just by a bridge on a small shelf using a small insert waggler and bagged a nice 13lb carp
No reason why not.If its a commercial water there should be plenty of stock in there.
I love fishing and I always will and I've subscribed
Taf fishing your the best keep going men
I love wacthing ya shows ya great and got great ideas mate love it i've told all my mates about u and there watching ya to they all think ya awesome!!!!!
Great vid lads - I'd love to see you target perch!
I cant wait for summer again
Graeme, can you tell me how and why you lock the float with the shot bottom end only? Why doesn't the float lie flat in the water if you do this? Is there something that I have missed in the video? Kind regards, Dave.
to start fishing what rods and all that shall i get just to start carp fishing?
Hey when you get the call from the boss it's time to get going great show fishing is the best
I have caught the occasional pike on maggots, but I wouldn't use them as bait. Dead fish are better. Or artificial lures.
hi great video, what method would you recommend for course fishing in the winter
I would contact your local fishing club, see if they have some members wanting to sell second-hand gear. Save yourself a lot over new, plus they might be willing to tell you where/how to fish. Don't get sold heavy carp tackle if you are a beginner. Try fishing at a commercial day ticket venue first. Ask other anglers. And fish in the margins, either Legering or with a float, especially in the evenings. We use Avon rods with 1 1/4lb test curve.6lb line. Small fixed spools. Good luck.
They are a species that will feed in the cold, but the guy filming won't go out there. Me !!! Can't stand frozen fingers,so we have it on file but I think it might be a backend season job in a mild spell.
Hi what would you say the best tactic apart from pole on the canal, great video by the way. Thanks.
Do you think fishing slacks in rivers is good because my local river has quite a few slacks and I'm wondering if these areas are worth targeting
Definitely worth a shot, but more so when and high/flood conditions are starting to drop.
I caught a 16 lb carp on a match rod and 5 lb line !!!!
hi taf can you give me any bream advice because I catch hardly any bream and more perch and roach on my canal, so I just wanted to know any tips on bream? cheers
hey mike or graeme could i request a monster uk catfish session from you guys ? i think it will be fun to see you guys out of your comfort zone with all the more complex tactics. enjoy your videos alot though very helpful ;)
do a video in gayton wood farm/huccabees for roach and perch on float
No,never heard of that make.
Probably feeder and maggots, or feeder and brandlings(worms)
Thanks very much
Great Stuff
great video. what rods do recommend for around 5-10lb carp
Graeme you should try to fish longford fishery any way grate video :)
Is it possible to turn my left over mixed maggots into casters because I've heard before that some people say that the dye in the maggots affect their pupation and was just wondering is this true
Would you mind telling me what river that is and where it is, it would be much appreciated
did u add any other shot to the line
i have a 11-13ft rod and i find it vey long after fishing a 10ft what can i do to make fishing more comfortable with it?
i am new to carp fishing i want to ask you waht are the best baits to use
I had 19 carp with a match rod size 18 hook and my meducer rig and have been using magots for ages and in all my 12 years have i seen a 38 lb ghost carp caught on my meducer rig
he got a bit of a "high back", he could be a hybrid....with bream, i suppose ?
Was that fishery near Shepperton Graeme?
Franky.
Good video!
can you do more float fishing vids pls :) i have start match fishing and i got first match next mouth so could you do some videos on silver fishing thanks
