    Really enjoy watching your video's. Reminds me of fishing back when I was a kid, helping my dad make bread paste and pellet paste before going fishing the next day. I lost him 4 and half years ago and watching your style of fishing brings back many good memories of back when he was learning me how to fish. Love your content Graeme.

    Another nice vid, you know l am one of the older anglers and watching the video,s here on UA-cam one nearly only see carp fishing l remember years age people made small films with roach, perch, Rudd, Barbel, chub, dance, or Grayling today we only see carp or pike, how the times change, regards Barrie

      Correct I am afraid to say. The Carp are everywhere now and finding good mixed fishing is a rarity.

    Again, Graeme pursues his quarry with practised strategies. Prudent reconnoitre of the lay of the land looking for fish & their possible locations reaped its rewards. An unfortunate Carp (hooked in the tail area) screamed "Not in the mouth! Not in the mouth!" Such a fortunate/unfortunate, well-educated & much-caught fish still fell to Graeme's skill. "Cast with Care" the sign said & Graeme did. The supply of maggots met the need. A small Pike met Graeme for the first time but perhaps, not the last time. Anything is possible. Looking forward to another TA video.

    I'm 18 years old and for me fishing is all about the float, sitting on the chair staring at the float with excitement not knowing what's beneath it, then you see the float Bob and telling yourself to calm down and not get too excited, that's the beauty of it for me, stuff all this new technology sitting for a week catching one fish, I don't see the point? I go out fishing to appreciate every fish you catch little or big if you have light tackle you will have just as much enjoyment playing with a 10lb carp then a 20 or 30 lb carp on heavy tackle dragging them in, that's my view!

      I agree completely. I'm 54 years old and love nothing more than to fish on a pole or rod and reel with a float and don't worry at all about what I catch. A day spent catching 40-50 silver fish for me is as fantastic as my brother who enjoys spending hours to catch one big carp.

    I'm sorry Graham, but the state of that first carps mouth is the main reason I refuse to fish commercial carp waters and stick to what I'd call 'wild' fishing. Even a few gudgeon out of a stream is better than catching a carp with such a mangled mouth,

      @@williamavery9185 Errrrrrrrmmmm... why are you calling me names and making assumptions about my lifestyle? I've made no reference to Graeme or his angling or video skills, just the state of the fish in that fishery. I'm a similar age to Graeme and have been fishing for over 50 years, it's my choice where and how I fish and that fishery is not somewhere I'd pay to angle. Others have commented on this thread about the shocking state of the carp in this fishery and others.. are we all twats? The more the issue of bad fish handling is exposed the more likely it is that anglers and fishery owners will do something about it.. or are they all twats as well?

    Went to my local pond yesterday there was a match started when I arrived after watching the guy on the next peg pulling out bream roach and Rudd for around 4 hrs I was pretty much fishing the same margin without a single bite. So I threw some floating bread and straight away a carp took it so then I remembered the video by these guys on touch ledgering I set up with a size 12 hook and a single AAA lead weight within a hr I had 4 carp using this method 2 commons around 5-6 pound 1 mirror around 2lb and my personal best common pretty sure I hit the magic 10lb mark due to the fact I asked the guy catching what he thought he agreed. The only problem I had with this method is I kept forgetting to use my fingers to stop the line reeling of which caused me to keep getting tangled up with line going of so quickly and it being the second time fishing with 25 yr old tackle could do with one of your lucky hoodies and cap best fishing tips on you tube cheers fellas

  • @andrewpartington8642

    Hi Graham/Mike. That first small Common was in beautiful condition, best I've seen for a long time. But the next one, poor sod. I was fishing a local commercial recently, just chucking in a few bits of bread to see if anything was about, and 3 or 4 Carp moved in. Well one of them was so badly deformed it could not suck the bread in no matter how hard it tried. It upset me so much that I've never been back, it fact it almost put me off fishing altogether. I stick to Rivers now. What are your thoughts on how we could stop these fishes mouths from getting so damaged. is it simply stop fishing for them?

    • @TAFishing
      @TAFishing  5 років тому

      I honestly don't know whether it is done when they are say 1lb or so and are hauled hard to the net and then they carry that mark for the rest of their lives ? If a child broke a finger at age 7,then if not repaired it will still be broken at aged 77....Or it could be done at a larger size,say 6lbs or so,but my gut feeling is it was done when younger. I have caught a couple(could be same fish)so deformed it turned my stomach,and bear in mind I'm certainly not squeamish going shark fishing and chopping up dead oily trout.I had to unhook it with forceps as I didn't want to touch it. I don't think they repair the damage but I could be wrong...does anyone else have theories about it ??,as its fairly commonplace on a lot of places.

    • @andrewpartington8642
      @andrewpartington8642 5 років тому

      That's an interesting theory about being damaged when they were young. I've read a few things about barbless hooks not being all they are cracked up to be, and the argument makes some sense. I think once a barbed hook is in, it is going to stay there, but with a barbless hook during a 15 minutes scrap, is it going in and out all the time,making that tiny hook hole bigger and bigger? I'm no expert by any means, I just wish we knew the cause so that we could start to prevent it. PS, have you fished the Teme at all Graham/Mike? I'm having some good sessions on the Barbel so far this Season, and it's only a hop skip and a jump away from the Wye :-)

      Yes,only on the first day,but I had to change drifts,first 5 hours not a sniff.Soon as the tide changed I had a better drift. Tough fishing considering the amount of chum I came with. Seems everyone is out chasing the BFT's just behind the moored ships outside of Coverack. Massive schools of 500 strong I hear. Heard of one 350 on the radio though . Guy with a small boat next to me in the boat yard said he saw some come out the size of a small car.Seems outside and East of Coverack is the honeypot for those who are "spotting" them. Loads of common dolphin and the odd whale or three.I Did see monstrous flocks of Guillemots ? Not sure,but they could be into the thousands.I have never seen that many before. Only macks I could catch were on Sabiki rigs in over 200 feet of water. Home now,after a delightful 7 hour tow/diversion down the good old A303...never fails .

      @@Mossy06 I dont see your logic..If you keep tension on the line it cant really move around and if you let the line go slack the fish easily spits out the hook in my experience. I have most definitely caught more Carp off the top this year coupling floating crust with a waggler float....No question..I should have used it more years ago.

    Graeme would it be possible for you to bottle up your skills and experience and send it to me as it would much improve this old boys fishing skills. Its not even as if you have the latest technology at hand and I love seeing that you don't even have an all sing dancing chair and rig set up. Keep doing what your doing as its enjoyable and informative to watch.

    I caught a 8 pound leather carp with a 16 hook shall i carry on or use a bigger one. Would appreciate responses from anyone who can help 👍👍

      You did well,but a size 12 hook might get you the same or bigger as it should have slightly stronger wire.

    Catch and release is a bad idea in some cases, look at the state of the mouth of that first carp.

      Try and stay away from waters that hold matches on them and the carp are in a lot better condition.

      Unfortunately it’s due to the elastic used in high pressure matches. We are currently conducting research on this at Brighton university. A constant pressure of a mono line is consistent, where as the elastic we have found creates the same pressure as almost 50 strikes during a 4 minutes fight. It’s similar to you keep pulling and letting go of the piece of skin between your thumb and the index finger. If you hold it at a consistent pressure it limits the pain. Keep pulling and letting go will cause damage. It is terrible to see fish in that condition.

    That fishery needs some serious maintenance. There must be a leak in that lake for it to have dropped that much.

    Noticed I this video all the carp seem to have a deformed mouth. Is this due to barb less hooks?? David B. Chichester 🤔

    • @TAFishing
      @TAFishing  4 роки тому

      Nobody seems sure nowadays. Latest thinking is that barbless might move around more,while barbed is at least in one spot. Jury is still out on that one.
