Love, love, love your journaling style. I am going to to track “things that make me smile” at the bottom of my weeklies. It is a better prompt for me than a gratitude statement. I love reading, too. Thanks for the Dutch word ❤

I loved the Dutch word. Thank you for sharing. So beautiful--it speaks to my spirit. I wouldn't be surprised if I end up in a Hobonichi next year.

"wall of text" - I know what you mean. Different color highlighters rather than doodles or stickers "fix the problem" for me. The colors help me to scan for a specific kind of note rather than having to read the whole page. Of course, the down side is having a selection of highlighters on hand, but easily overcome with a small pencil case. Worth it to me. 😆
Because of your video I jumped in to get the 2024 Hobonichi Cousin book and a cover - $93 American with shipping. I look at it as an incentive to make it work, or at least spend time with it since it cost so much. 🙂

I do the same thing! I use my monthly pages for planning and recapping the day. I don't always put my brief recap daily. I do it more when I'm reviewing my week/month. I highlight the areas of my life and then when I do my monthly review, I can see how much time I've spent in certain areas. This is especially helpful in my work life as I've noticed in October there was NO green, which means I've neglected to work on my research project. I see that too much purple was getting in the way, which means more administrative tasks related to my work as a university professor.

I use highlighters, too. I write throughout the day and then add highlighters at the end of the day, when I am settling down without screens. There is already enough in my pen case to carry around! 😂😂😂

I didn't even think to separate the morning, afternoon and evening, thanks for the idea! I've been using that vertical monthly at the beginning of the hobo to track any "habits" so you might want to try that for tracking your medical stuff. It's a quick glance and it doesn't get lost in my monthly appointments. I track laundry, gas, baking days, visiting parents etc. Keep up the videos!

I’m a fellow ADHDer, as soon as you mentioned it dawned on me why your videos click with me. I’ve been watching one after another and am enjoying your journey to find what works best for you. I also love that book, I listened to the audiobook from our library and immediately bought my own copy. I’m due for a reread of it I think. I’m going to try the reminder section next week.

Yours is one of my favorite channels. It's nice to know I don't need to be perfect. I like that you change until you find what works for you, but aren't adverse to changing again. I got some great ideas from your weekly and daily discussions. By the way, I've never liked journaling because my days are pretty boring as well. You helped me to see that I don't have to have momentous things happen or deep thoughts to write something down for the day.

I feel the same way about the yearly section. However, I need my tracking in my daily pages...LOL. I am trying to use the yearly for some high-level planning and for keeping track of "when did I last" things. I have just a few things that I like to track when they occurred and those get lost in my monthly spread because I use my monthly more Ryder Carroll style with a line a day or a simple recap of my day. That is what attracted me to your channel in the first place as I have just left bullet journalling in a regular notebook to bullet journaling in a Cousin. I got an Avec back in August because I wanted some structure and try it out.
I use a lot of digital tools so I’ve come to envision my Cousin as a place to collect all the aspects of my work and personal life and put them in one place so that I can reflect and make changes. , I approach my weekly pages in very similar ways that your do. I say to myself, “What do I want to see from a week’s viewpoint? Or what you say, “What do I want to see at a glance?” I use sections or categories like, food I ate, exercise, energy and internal feelings. Some weeks I include work aspects like did I stay focused on my weekly tasks. I come to the weekly spread at the end of the day and quickly jot down things I’m keeping track of for that week. I don’t set these pages up ahead of time and wait until my weekly review to see what I need to focus on for the upcoming week.
My dailies are where I rapid log and do interstitial journaling as well as journal about my life. I just decided at the end of October to use the monthly blank page at the beginning of the daily pages to do my monthly review, like Ryder Carroll discusses in the bujo method.
I love your content! Thank you for sharing. You give me good ideas to consider!!! Oh, I still don’t have a printer and I’m not getting one either.

The way you've experimented (and struggled a bit) with the weekly vs. monthly spreads reminds me why I switched to a Kinbor notebook. It has the same layout as the Hobonichi techo original, with months and days but no weeks. For me, this makes for a better journal / memory keeper because there's less confusion about what to put where. (I don't use my journal for "planning". Events, appointments, and to-do lists go in my digital calendar with alerts. I need something to remind me at the appropriate TIME, and I don't necessarily want to keep a record of the last time I cleaned the dishwasher ten years from now.) The Kinbor paper is similar to but faster-drying than Tomoe River Paper as well. As a left-handed underwriter I've had less smearing with my fountain pens, but your mileage may vary. As someone who also has a chronic health condition, I have a seperate Kinbor weeks-style notebook that I use to track medical visits, medication schedule, meals, instructions, lab results, questions I have for my next visit, etc. It's much more portable so I can take it with me to my appointments.

Definitely not the only one without a printer... I really need to get one! Love these vids! I will be getting my very first Hobonichi Techo Cousin this year and I am looking around for inspo! Are there any (European) webshops you buy stuff like stickers at? Not sure where to look 😖

I really love your videos and since bought a Hobonichi Cousin for 2024, I'm grateful for your interesting ideas/experiences with this format. I think the daily reset is a great way of labeling a quick cleaning session - I might use that too and I that book you mentioned looks interesting (I really struggle keeping organized in my tiny apartment). Thank you for taking the time to make these great videos!

Love the Made Me Style section on your weeklies! I tend to use the yearly spread for appointments, a bit like a BuJo future log, then transfer things to my weekly when I am planning out my schedule. I am not so sure on the monthly, maybe I will use it to record paintings I complete each month in 2024

So this is totally just a curious comment. You live in the Netherlands but you write everything in English is that typical there? And I love the Dutch word you gave us.

    • @NotebookOverloadd
      @NotebookOverloadd  7 місяців тому +1

It’s not typical but I switch languages all the time because I speak English a lot for my job. So whatever language I’ve been speaking the most that day is what I usually end up writing in. :)
