For the dot stickers, you could get a small shape hole punch from a craft store and then use them on washi tapes to make your own stickers essentially.
oh thats such a great idea! i never thought to do that. I love buying dot stickers, and that would be more cost-effective. Luckly I buy all my washi tape from Daiso, and they have some shape hole punchers. I love this idea so much!
What you described about being tempted by other planners is not weird. It’s normal and in my opinion it’s a combination of fomo and peoples attention spans being short. “You thought you liked standard size, but don’t you want to know how passport feels? And this years comes with an exclusive color and charm” 👀 Businesses are going to business. Promoting new systems and products to us consumers will always be how they operate to get money. We just need to be certain of what we can actually afford or need. If you’re budget allows for some experimentation, great, try things. But if not then have a clear idea of what you will use and stick with it.
The being tempted is so true. I got the idea of switching from bujo to Hobonichi Techo after 4 years of using bujo and wanting a change, after seeing videos of beautiful Hobonichi's on social media. I set up my newest blank notebook as a fauxbonichi to test out how the techo might work for me. Quickly, I realized that the regular bujo, without pre-made layouts, is still the system for me. I foud the very act of writing the date on a blank page was actually super important and grounding to me, and I surprisingly felt less connected with my journal when everything is pre-printed. Very strange, but it was something I realized about myself after doing the fauxbonichi trial. So I converted my fauxbonichi back into a regular bullet journal. It's so funny how we each find planner peace in different areas. I'm so glad the Techo has been working for you. Your handwriting and layouts are so beautiful and inspiring. I plan to use my Techo for another purpose -- gonna play a solo RPG game and the techo cousin will be my character's journal. Looking forward to all the creative possibilities that the various layouts will offer!
This is why I love doing a trial layout before committing! I’m glad the bujo is working so well for you and I totally get that, I discovered things I liked about my cousin that I didn’t notice previously too
I've just ordered the Hobo Cousin for 2024 because of you 😂 I'm so excited! Do you have any tips or tricks on what I can do in it ahead of the New Year? I'm also going to be using my Midori A5 as my commonplace book. I love your videos, I'm a new sub from Scotland, and I can honestly say that you have inspired me so much and bought so much comfort to me over the last couple of weeks (I've binge watched your vids). Without going into too much detail, we lost our baby back in September, and the last few weeks have been, beyond hell on earth, but you have provided so much peace in this turbulent time. So thank you.
Hey! Thank you so much for sharing your experience, I’m truly glad these videos have been a source of comfort for you 💕 Ok so I too have been excited about my new book and I’ve been keeping a list of things I want to do/change for my setup so I know how I want to organize everything once the new year starts. Beside that you could totally start filling out your monthly calendars with holidays and more concrete days you know won’t change 👌🏻
I really enjoyed and needed your conversation about planner peace with the Hobonichi Cousin. I am struggling with using the Hobonichi Cousin for the first time. I absolutely love the layout of the Cousin, but I am struggling with the grid system instead of lines and the thin paper. I'm trying to stick with it because the layout is perfect for me, but I often feel like a drama queen having a dark crisis of the soul with my planner LOL. Thanks for helping me keep it real and stick with it a bit longer. 😄
I've been using a bullet journal for around five years on and off. Today I saw the Hobonichi and decided to try the Avec for 2024. The Avec seems like a good idea for reducing bulk when carrying the planner around but with the same benefits as the full sized cousin. Thanks for all the great ideas on how to use it!
Can’t remember where I saw this , but my Midori was way too tight as well and I put it out in the sun and while it was still warm I put it on my cousin. It worked perfectly
Damn it! I’m a new subscriber, & I just realized that you have a link to paper plus cloth. I’m so sorry that I didn’t see that before I ordered my first Traveler’s notebook a few days ago. I’m just new to this, & wondered if you could give me some guidance. I also bought a monthly calendar for my passport TN, & I’m looking for mini holiday stickers for it. Are there stickers sheets that hit all of the holidays, especially Canadian holidays? Thank you & happy thanksgiving 🍁
Hey! So I use circular stickers and add them to the holidays but I’m sure that there’s an Etsy shop out there that would have Canadian holiday specific stickers
I just started doing this so no dedicated video but I do go over it in this vid briefly! It’s super simple tho, brown dot = days I’m not working/holidays/vacation and the white dot = birthdays ☺️
I ordered hobonichi cousin this week but honestly, I’m still doubting if I made the right decision. I love writing and i love the idea that I have everything in one book. But the dailies can be so intimidating and I don’t know how to use the weeklies. 🥺 i also worry about the chunkiness. 😢 your video is amazing! New sub here. 🤎
Hey Maria, I totally understand what you mean, I found the same thing with the cousin in october and now have switched to a more flexible system in my travelers notebooks. I’m still using a hobonichi weeks for planning but I’ve been really liking not having a dedicated daily page to fill out every day
i love your videos! i do have a question though. why do people generally not want to use the hobonichi cover on cover/clear color for their cousin?? i just ordered mine and i got a cover and a clear cover on cover, wondering if i made a mistake in doing so
Hey! So from what I’ve seen other speak about and my own personal experience, putting a cover on your cousin is totally personal preference. I think some people don’t like adding covers because it adds bulk to an already larger sized planner. For me, bulk doesn’t matter because I leave my planner at home, why I don’t use a cover is purely bc I love the design of the cousin book and like looking at it!
For the dot stickers, you could get a small shape hole punch from a craft store and then use them on washi tapes to make your own stickers essentially.

Yessss so well summarized!!

I've been using vellum over top of the pages and see how it feels to be writing on or using the layouts ☺️

yay another video from Kaitlin. I cant wait to go back to using the Hobonichi A5 Cousin next year.

Your spreads look so clean 😍😍😍😍
My allergies have also been atrocious the past few weeks. It's been rough. I'm glad you're feeling better!

Just found you here today. Loved your video and tips. Using the Cousin for 2024 and need a clear cover so thank you!
Hey! You could create an index for your Commonplace Book on the very last page.
That’s a fantastic idea! Thank you!
I'm also recovering from a cold. Its the worst... i didn't even bother to journal because i was so sick. I hope you're all well now ❤️
I’m feeling much better! Thank you for the well wishes, I hope you feel better too 💞
@@KaitlinGrey i am better now, catching on the missed journal entries 😊 which is mostly about me being sick 🤣
Looking forward to your 2024 update!
this is stunning, great content to paint too ❤
Glad to hear it ☺️
What kind of printer do you have? The saturation looks really nice.
What brand is your leather pencil bag? Great video :)
Off topic but your fingernails are perfect! What products do you use please ?
FYI- Midori A5 cover is $5 on Jet Pens. Hope this helps for next time. Jet Pens is a great online store.
Good to know! I live in Canada so I gotta pay that extra $15 shipping, but a solid option for US people :D
@@KaitlinGrey oh, what’s the pen place in Canada that CoffeeMonsterzCo has collab with? I forgot the name…maybe they would have it?
Glad you’re feeling better. Temptation is no joke. I keep being tempted but my issue is I could make it work 😂
Ahhhh that’s is the ultimate challenge!

@@KaitlinGrey Good idea. Thank you 🙏
@@KaitlinGrey Actually, now that I think of it, the circle stickers are a good idea. Are they colour coded? Is there a video on this? Thanks again.

hi, I'd love to know where you get the grid post it notes you use in your planner?
I got it from stationery pal 🙂
I always enjoy your videos ❤
Thank you so much

Hi! Love your pages! Sorry if you said in another video or if I missed it here - what do you record or write about on the weeks pages?
why didn't you get a hobonichi cover?
lovely video, kaitlin :) thanks for sharing
