As a newbie finishing off my first ever quilt, can't thank you enough for this! Just what I needed! No fuss, close enough to see what you were actually doing. Much appreciated!
Hello, I just wanted to say thank you! I used your video as a reference and started stitching away! It's The first time I've made a Quilt and 😅 I lost track of time and accidentally spent the whole night sewing on the binding ❤😂. Literally sewed for a straight 8 hours, bar drink and stretch breaks. I'm off to sleep now, so I can wake up to my beautiful new Quilt!
I am a retired teacher who also taught education courses at a local university. I mention this only support my high praise for these videos. The "Crafty Gemini" is an excellent teacher. Her videos are verbally detailed and visually packed with examples and warning of mistakes to avoid. I am high average in my sewing skills so I enjoy getting her ideas to combine or improve with what I think I know. Thank you so much for sharing your skills and creativity so clearly with the world!
I watched 8 different videos on hand binding and yours was BY FAR the easiest to follow. I love the way you demonstrated two different stitches showing the difference in the results. You have a natural teaching technique and I always find your tutorials clear and informative.
Every time I get this far on a project, I search out your video. Best "how to" for hand sewn binding ever! Thanks so much for posting. Really like the stitch and the miter treatment of whip to top, and burrow back through. Brilliant.
I've paid hundreds of dollars taking classes and have yet to finish a complete quilt. This video just showed me how to get that binding down clearly. Can't wait to try it. Always love watching you're tutorials. Wish you were closer. Would love to take a class with you.
Your tutorials popped up in my feed while searching for how to use sashing and cornerstone squares to finish off my second quilt top. I’ve now watched you for a couple of hours that flew by! You’re an awesome instructor! You must be a Teacher IRL! 😊 Thanks so much for sharing your expertise! ❤
Thank you!!! You make it very clear by showing exactly where the stitches go in and out! I watched many videos before yours, and they all just went too quickly and didn't show the close ups like you! This will help me finish my binding at a high level!
I agree with everyone else, your tutuorials are great. I'm a beginner...almost halfway through my first one, which I did completely by hand (my new machine just came in the mail, yay!) You are so detailed in the way you show how to do things and you answer my questions as I'm thinking them...I love your fabrics of choice too, very funky! Nice accent too! Thanks for your help in making my first quilt.
I attached binding to a mini quilt following your instructions and it is just beeeeeautiful. I can't believe I did it. All because if you, thank you so much. I'll hand stitch it in the back now. You're a great gal 👍🏽😊
I just made my first quilt and was intimidated by the last step of hand sewing the binding. (I've never handstitched a single stitch!) I watched your video and followed along with my binding and it turned out perfect! Thank you again!
I’ve been working on a quilt for my niece coming in a couple months and I’m finally at the binding stage. It’s been almost driving me insane that I got through everything else with ease and now I’ve been looking for a quick tutorial on specifically this exact thing. It’s exactly what I was looking for and incredibly well worded. Thank you!
I'm on my 5th quilt and now I have three videos about key quilting techniques that have become my "go-to's"...one to refresh me on how to machine stitch binding to the front of a quilt, another for making the binding "tails" meet evenly and now yours for hand-sewing the back. Very clear, good camera work, nice explanations and thanks for using the black thread so it's easy to see. Thanks so much.
So much more work than machine binding lol, but I don't think I'll ever go back to machine binding. The look is just soo nice and professional looking. This was such a great, helpful tutorial. Thank you!!
Thank you so much! I had forgotten how to hide the stitches for my binding and my first attempt at it without the video was rough and messy. After watching your video I was able to confidently sew it correctly. Thank you!!
This is such a great video. I'm a new sewer and quilter. This has given me the confidence to finish the underside of my binding. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Hi, this is, by far and hands down, the best tutorial on UA-cam for this binding stitch! The mitered corner instruction is genius! This old lady can learn new tricks, I thank you!
I should have watched you before I hand sewed my bindings. Lol oh well… I ended up doing a mixture of stitches. I’m pleased to have accomplished my 2 projects. Thank you for sharing! 🤗💞
I have made a few quilts. I could NEVER, EVER get the binding quite right. It has frustrated me for years. I have often thought about hand sewing my binding, but never felt comfortable enough to do it, until I saw this tutorial. Thank you SO much! I am now going to finish off my sisters quilt with this technique. I'm very excited! I don't think I'll ever machine sew a binding on a quilt again! Blessings to you.
Thank you SO MUCH for this. I was about to rage quit this binding because it was going all wrong. After watching the video, I breezed through side three and I love you forever.
OMG! Finally, how to sew the backs of my quilts PROPERLY !! I took a sewing class and didn't learn this much. Thank you Sew Much! You make it look sooo easy :)) Now my corners won't look so ... I don't know what! Oh, what a relief it IS.
Don't know your name but Thank you SO much for this wonderful tutorial! I discovered that is the blanket stitch in a miniature version. Which is what I've always used but into the binding for durability purposes. This stitch will last and does produce a durable and beautiful finish. Exactly what I've desired since I started quilting. Thank you again!!
Thank you for using black thread and black needle! Also zooming in helped me so much!!! Also you repeated several stitches slowly, narrating as you sew. Now I know to push the needle through the backing -on other videos they didn’t explain that. Also, it is clear that I put the next stitch right in front of the last stitch. No one explained that clearly. I thought the meddle went in behind the last stitch. I appreciate your teaching skills! ❤
Thank you is not enough! This video made me go from feeling awful about my hand stitching to feeling like THE HAND STITCHING BOSS!!! My project is done and I am absolutely THRILLED with the way it turned out!!! Thank you so much for taking the time to do this video!!!
I love her videos. So easy to learn from her. I have used “Crafty Gemini” for a long time now, and often tell my friends to check these videos,. Great Job! You’re Awesome!!!
I NEVER comment on the videos I watch, but I just have to now - your tutorials are fantastic and soooo helpful for a newbie like me! Thank you SO much for making clear, straightforward, and useful videos!
I really enjoy your tutorials! I especially like the way you describe what you're doing as you go along and you never leave out even the most minute details! I have learned more from your video's than any of the others. I'm so glad I found you! Thank you so much and keep up the excellent work!!!!!!!
I have been quilting for a couple of years and have watched several tutorials on hand sewing binding to the quilt. THIS IS THE BEST TUTORIAL EVER!!! I love it and especially how you sew the mitred corners! Thank you so much!!!
This is wonderful! My sewing goddess grandmother died a few years ago and I've had no one to teach me to sew and a lot of online articles and vids haven't explained things to my satisfaction, this is a headache saver!
Thank you for this excellent tutorial. I'm not a quilter (or seamstress) but my mom made a quilt for me before she passed away. The only thing left to do on it is to finish attaching the binding. I can do this!
Thank you so very much!, I never wanted to hand sew the back of my quilts but now I will. Thanks for all the tips! You are a great teacher especially not only saying what you are doing but also showing and why! Thanks again.
I love your tutorials. Thanks so much! We just moved, and I have no speakers on my computer yet. I was able to understand perfectly just by watching your video. Thank you!!
Thank you, I've been working on a quilt for about 4 years, all done by hand. I've been waiting forever to get to the binding and your tutorial was very helpful. Thank you so much.
This is the 5th video I have watched. Wish I started here! The best part is you say where to put the needle when you go back into the batting and backing. Thank you!!
This tutorial was JUST what I needed! I have been doing a ladder stitch but am definitely going to try the invisible stitch next. What I really was looking for was tying off which was really helpful! And the added bonus was how to stitch the corners! This video is a keeper!
This is my 'go to' video. I've saved it in my "favorites" list. Every time I finish machine sewing a binding, I need a refresher on how to do a good job of hand sewing. It appears that you and I use the same part of the brain- I like to hold the binding, quilt and needle on the same angles as you do. Nice even, easy commentary too. Keep up the good work. Thanks.
About to do this on my first ever quilt and this is the first tutorial that I think is helpful! You have a great angle on the camera. The visual of how hard it is to see those black stitches really gives me confidence on how invisible these bites will be! I would have assumed the ladder would be stronger, and luckily I know better now! This quilt is for a baby, so I really want to make sure its the strongest I can do. THANK YOU!!
I keep this in my favorites bar for every time I finish a quilt. You've chosen the right colors, you have great pacing and a good explanation. Thank you for posting.
Really really GREAT tutorial!!! So glad I stumbled across your channel! Thank you so much for posting it!!! Now I can finally finish this quilt I have been on for about 3 YEARS!!!
I have always put off hand binding because it seemed like it would take forever. I was doing it wrong! Thanks to this video; I'm actually enjoying the process. It's relaxing.
thank you. I've watched a couple of videos already and no one mentioned to go through the "backing and batting" and that's why I was searching how to hand stitch binding!!! I didn't know if you just stitched the backing to the binding without going into the batting.
yours is THE ONLY video i can watch and understand. i have watched this in the past and probably commented about the same thing :) ... thanks so much for taking the time to put this out, it has helped me more than i can say.
Thank you for this video... I've never hand sewn the binding on before and it always looks awful when I try to machine sew it... I didn't understand how everone did it without the stitches showing and I was scared of it, but following the advice in your video, I just did it with success for the first time... thank you!!!!
I can see that you get this a lot, but Thank you SO much! I started learning how to sew this summer, and have made some blankets with edgings that are less that pretty. I found this and your other video on how to make and attach a binding. I can say these are looking so helpful! I can't wait to try this all out!
Thx, I just moved across the country and my sewing stuff is still buried! I'm so enjoying your tutorials and I can't wait to find my sewing machine and fabric so that I can make your fabric pumpkins and try the paper piecing! When I do get around to it I will find out how to show you a picture. take care : )
This was an excellent video because you made it so simple to understand. I am making my first baby quilt and this was very helpful….thank you very much!
Thank you for this video and showing how easy it is to hand sew a quilt binding. I tend to do a stitch similar to the one you did on the mitre, for me it is quick and easy and seems to hold just as well. thanks, Elaine
I made my very first sewing project several years ago from your envelope pillow tutorial! You have the best easiest to follow tutorials ever! Thanks so much for doing these videos!
Have to jump on the "Great tutorial " band wagon! Anyone has the capability of posting a video but finding a true tutorial vs a hobby enthusiast that spends the majority of the vid talking and not teaching drives me up a wall. Thanks for taking the time to make a useful, to the point and helpful video!
Thank you for this, it was very helpful as I had 2 baby mats I had tried to machine bind and it had not worked well at all. I watched your technique, took in your advice and have now tidied up the binding which looks so much better now and the stitches are barely noticeable! I think in future I will probably machine stitch the front of a quilt and hand sew the other side because I would have saved a lot of time and achieved a better result if I'd done that in the first place!! 🤣😂🤣😂
Glad you enjoy my tutorials. I take a stitch up into the binding and when you come back down you come straight down in front of the last stitch you did then come up at an angle to the left side and continue the pattern.
I am finishing my first quilt and was going to sew the binding on, both sides. But after seeing your tutorial and how quickly you went, I'm going to do it the "right way"! Thanks for your help!
SUPER helpful! I'm so glad I found your tutorial. For my first hand-stitched binding (before I saw your video) I used the ladder stitch and really wasn't happy with it. I like your "bite" stitch much better! Thanks!
Hi, I'm into my second quilt and will start on my binding. i've just learnt that yiu have to sew through the backing, my first one was trial and error but still holding well. I made it in Nov. 2011. She is so good. Great explanations and not wasting time with silly junk.
She is great!!!

You're undoubtedly aware of this by now, but this is the best quilt binding tutorial! I can't believe how neat the stitches look.

I'll hand stitch it in the back now. You're a great gal 👍🏽😊

this was so clear to see and very helpful. finishing up my 3rd quilt - and after this video I finally understand hand sewing a quilt binding. =)
Glad it was helpful!

Glad to help! 👍🏽
Another teacher commends your ability to give clear instructions. I'm quilting 5 years now and still refer to your videos for refreshers.

Thank you! First-time quilter and it was so helpful to hear you show and explain how to finish the binding!!
I have used the easy to follow directions from this video for three quilts. WELL DONE!

Thx. You have soo much patience. You explain things so well. Love these videos!
This is the best binding video I have seen, thank you for taking the time to make it. It sure makes binding look a lot less intimidating!
this is so much easier than how i was taught to bind, will try this time as i finish the binding on the quilt i am working on.
Have to jump on the "Great tutorial " band wagon!

Thank you for taking the time to make this video. Project looks SOOO much better after I ripped out my stitches and followed along with you!!!
Hands down best tutorial!!! Been looking for a good one and this is it!!!
Glad you enjoy my tutorials. I take a stitch up into the binding and when you come back down you come straight down in front of the last stitch you did then come up at an angle to the left side and continue the pattern.
You're a fantastic teacher. Thank you so much!
New to this and finishing off my first kid quilt. Thanks so much!!!
This was one of the most useful quilting videos I’ve watched. Thank you so much for this information.
I am finishing my first quilt and was going to sew the binding on, both sides. But after seeing your tutorial and how quickly you went, I'm going to do it the "right way"! Thanks for your help!
Thank you. I finally learned how to finish off a quilt binding and it looks great!
This is the best tutorial I’ve seen for hand binding. Thank you so much for sharing!
Thanks refresher course! Looks so much better than what I'd been doing - I even took out a previous hem and re-did it!
2011. Thanks for sharing your trips and looking forward to checking out your other videos. Have a nice day.
Thank you so much for thoroughly explaining how to do this. Now I can finish the binding on my daughter-in-laws Christmas tree skirt. :)
I just finished the first 1 1/2 sides of binding my T-shirt quilt - thank you SO much for the easy to follow tutorial!
You are a very good instructor. I'm making my first quilt and I've learned so much from you. Wish me luck as I hand sew my binding on today.
Thanks I always go to your video when I start binding a quilt😊
Fabulous tutorial. Easy to follow, clear instructions. Thanks a million, I was really struggling (on my first lap quilt) how to do the corners.
Thank you so much! I had to hand sew a baby blanket for home ec and I had no idea how to do it, you really helped.
