I'm not really sure if the people that disliked this know that this will go down as an obvious classic down the road. This guy is the most talented guitar player I've ever seen in 36 years.
I second that! I am almost ashamed to say it, but in pure time I probably play longer than he does, but I guess he practiced a lot more! Like a looooot more.
@@tm8602 at the time was 36 years old.
Hence the, "ever seen" part.
Tommy Emmanuel still reigns supreme, but Billy is probably the better all around artist in my opinion
Joe Bonamassa. You’re welcome
You should see him live
He should've said at the end " I guess you wasn't ready for that. But your kids are going to love it".
Man I love the way Billy flat picks
The emotions of this tune. The house spun around inside of the tornado🌪️
definition of tin foil and turmoil 💨
Saw 'em live yesterday in Frankfurt am Main. That was a total acoustic steam roller. daaamn!

Holy shit just when you think music is dead this comes along Thankyou
This is basically a thrash song played in the style of bluegrass. He's so good.
No doubt......I could totally hear mustaine doing this tune
You can tell he listens to a lot of metal
🤩
More like a grunge song played 40 bpm faster.
Or "tear it down" by old crow medicine show.
This song makes me cry my eyes out. My wife and I were hooked on meth for two years. Fighting ourselves and each other, lost custody of our kids, seeing us become different people and talking to shadows on the walls…. I’ll never touch that evil stuff again. I’ve got my family back and been sober four years.
(Tinfoil is used to smoke and cook meth, in case someone doesn’t understand)
Wow, thank you for sharing that. I didn't know. And congratulations and God bless you on your transformation. That's big!
Hell yeah brother congratulations
Keep the fight. - The world is set up to make us fail, Its up to you show the world who is boss !
Its also used to smoke heroin on, both heroin & meth r evil as hell & both come with more than their fair share of turmoil. A MASSIVE WELL DONE !!! 4 turning ur lives around & getting ya family bk together where u all belong. Any1 dat don't understand how hard dat is don't have da right to comment. Honestly u should b so proud of urselves. X
Check out his song dust in a baggie
I know many people have commented on this but at 4:45 the look of pure joy on everyone's face is absolutely priceless.
Let's stop and appreciate how amazing everyone is on their instrument they all rip great job
ua-cam.com/video/zfPn1u8AwJ0/v-deo.html Baltimore guitar teacher, live reaction and trying to play Billy Strings
Sometime during this song those glasses melted off of his face.
Every once in a while UA-cam recommends the right thing.
How in earth does somebody manage to get this sound out of an ordinary guitar ! Fantastic !
It's a Martin ....
Martin with pickup. Its corded.
I think I've watched this 50 times in the past 2 months.
The Devil sold his soul to Billy Strings to learn how to play guitar...
Probably

Lmao! The Devil went up to Michigan, he was lookin for a soul to steal...
@@aronrosas4191 ha thanks man, he's just too bloody good!
Metal AF
Going watching him here in the UK..
Itl be a great show
It's like Black Sabbath put out a blue grass song in 1970.
led zep.
have you seen this cover. I was impressed ua-cam.com/video/zfPn1u8AwJ0/v-deo.html
And that’s the exact moment when the fingerpicking produced just enough jigawatts to send billy back to 1928.
Tesla shit
What? He uses a pick, a TP48...
I went to his concert Aug 11, 2021 and this song lasted for 25 min !!!
Fuck that'd rock
we were lucky enough to be in the front row for this performance - insanely good across the board. Technical mastery with artistic excellence. I REALLY miss Music City Roots at the Factory - what a loss for the community!
i'm sure you're a fine person, but...i hate you.😊
I hope you were lucky enough to pick up his glasses that he seemed to lose somewhere in the first half of the song!!!!! You my Friend, can tell your Grandkids one day how good music still was as Billy re-erected Blue Grass!!! Oh sorry, I think this is called "DeadGrass" and I'm sure Jerry Garcia is looking down from Heaven and thinking, "My God. This is the real deal, finally"!!!!! Be Well Actionoriented!!!!!
Bluegrass thrown into a blender with Metallica and some Cantrell lyrical themes. Love it.
Daniel Syverstad blew my mind bring up jerry, that’s spot on
Ewe metalica hell no nowhere near
@@mathieulagrandeur1006 Play 4:17 onwards with an electric guitar and this will be Metallica all over the place. It's no secret that Billy is a big metal head btw!
@@SaintFranssoix You get it...
This reeks of Alice in Chains, but then again I always felt AIC were metal with blues / bluegrass roots...
That’s a BAD boy right there! Holy shit! The UA-cam algorithm did something right introducing all of us to him. If there is a better guitar player out there, I haven’t seen or heard him.
Seriously seeing so many people whove been brough to billy through the 2012 dust in a baggie video. Like myself just 4 days ago.
UA-cam must be promoting this dude hardcore right now, I never listened to bluegrass before discovering this dude a few days ago, completely impressed. Metalhead btw
Maybe check out Tommy Emmanuel and Joe Robinson
Search Justin Johnson
Joe Bonamassa? Marcus King? Not saying they are better but sure are heading in the right direction.
As a man born and raised in East Tennessee I understand and feel this so much. Never heard blue grass on this level… beautiful
Everyone who's seen Billy strings play guitar knows he's an insane Roy Clark level guitarist but that mandolin player rips too, it's all just ridiculous talent
Agreed, ALL these guys are very very good. It’s fun watching people like this who are absolute masters at their craft.
So glad somebody mentioned Roy Clark in this feed as one of the greatest.
@@zarekmichalski4995 Yes to Roy Clark... but I think Glen Campbell also deserves at least an honorable mention as one of the greats.
That Mandolin player is Jared Walker and yes he is very good
@@johndibiosso7607 Actually, it's Drew Matulich... JW didn't join till later in the year or early '18.....
When you think "Dust In A Baggie" is his big hit wonder? He throws this at us lol. And more to come from this Talented Young Man!
❤
ive noticed this myself? i kniw its everwhere but is his relationship to meth i wonder?
@@illfather7066
I don't think so. At least not long term. He grew up in small towns without anything better to do, so he seen his peers get into it.
@@QueenofNonSequitur ive since read an interview he admitted using as early as the age 13 ..he said it was crazy times but does not regret it...did not comment about after those years as far as his usage ...not in that particular interview

Thanks! Don't know a lot about him, except he's cute and his/their music is AWESOME!!!
This is hands-down the best version of this song I have heard, and I have listened to it so many times now I am shocked at how much I love it.
I love how his face muscles just stop working when he's really playing a good riff. You can tell that music just courses through this man's body!
Love how he smiles when he knows he just played the hell out of that guitar!!!!
So glad someone else noticed that,
Playing for the love of it. Hellz yeah
He is loving it! A born artist and performer.
UA-cam: Hey wanna watch a guy, that looks 14 and is dressed like he's giving a rushed-to-finish science fair presentation, sing like a 40 year old and jam like he's been playing for a hundred years?
Me: yes
UA-cam:
Dfkm 💀💀

Lyrical mastery of Manson with the soul of Johnny cash I've been searching for this exact sound thank you.
The string progression is insane….the lyrics resonate deep as well love this man
This song is like a damn journey, musical masterpiece.
Those old people were smiling and kicking their legs to some thrash metal and don’t even know it!
The even older people know that metal is just surf music set to a minor key.
Its 2019, a lot of people like metal. Not everyone thinks its satanic
Thrash metal is our music, young Laddy. We were the one's filling up concert halls way back when.
His audience is always full of gray haired folks. They must know something.
@@liz1060 we do, Deary.
These guys are just ....
I'm speechless.
The most musically complex bluegrass song I've ever heard. Fantastically done in every aspect. Wow!
The kid from the porch on deliverance grew up and wandered out of the hills and changed his name to Billy strings.
this is my favorite song of his. probably because its not typical bluegrass. shows prowess and skill of writing, song structure, tempo changes, harmonies, melodies, and dowmright ripping. very rare to hear it all in one place usually getting one or two with the others but hes just one of those extraordinary men that just have it.
If he makes it til he’s 40 we may have the best guitarist to have ever lived
I've never been a fan of this kind of music until I found Billy. Damn dude plays that guitar
Billy has single handedly revolutionized bluegrass music
That transition from the solo back to the main riff is smooth as damn silk!
This song has become in my top 3 of all time
Quickly into my top ten.
You and me both
Man go check out Away from the mire
It's a continuum. From Bill Monroe to to Norman Blake, to Tony Rice, and on and on, this kid has generational talent and the chops to back it up. It's like Eddie Van Halen, hours, and days and years practicing 'till your fingers bleed. I truly hope that he can avoid the pitfalls that have claimed the lives of so many other great players.
I've said it a million times, Billy Strings has such profound, authentic adoration for his band-mates, brothers in strings! Love this human! What a gift to us all! 🍀
Kids got more talent than all of mainstream. He will be a legend!
At what? Destroying a perfectly good bluegrass ditty?
@@ShartNpantz Go the fuck away. I GUARANTEE you can't do better.
@@ShartNpantz Haters gotta hate. This kid has mad skills.
@@ShartNpantz Your idea of good country is probably Billy Ray Cyrus. You're boring
He’s still growing. May become a legend. Right now, he’s tearing it up. A revolution.
What a bloody genius God bless him. Wish I can once watch him live and shake his hand
The talent of this band is insane. They are vastly underrated. I also mostly a metal sub pop guy in my 50s but love everything he does.
I'm not really sure if the people that disliked this know that this will go down as an obvious classic down the road. It's very impressive sounding, especially how Billy mixes the natural minor and plucks out the phrygian 2nd and incorporates the harmonic minor 7th note to give that dissonance sound. Love it! Along with his impeccable flat picking technique, truly mastered that!
Teach me more!!!!
