Tip from an Alaskan: On the next charter when you catch a halibut, try slicing out the gills, put a deep slice into top of the tail - white side, and hang your fish for an hour or two off the side of the boat head down. Don't gut the fish until after it bleeds out. You'll end up with translucent flesh that you can use for sushi, halibut chunks you can drop in bowling water and pull out when they start to float. Then, dips the chunks butter. Better than lobster IMHO! I was an offshore foreman during the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill working in Nuka Bay - it's close to being the half-way point between Seward and Homer - we got bored one day and decided to lay out 1/4 of long line to catch halibut. The boat I was on was a 76' seiner that was converted into a mobile boat cleaning operation for ships before they could go to port. We turned that ship into a sailboat with all the halibuts we hag hanging off the crane. Really enjoy your videos!
Absolutely incredible scenery! The true wonders of Alaska - and to actually observe part of the glacier separating and falling into the sea - remarkable! Thank you for sharing, Nina!
Those filets were insane! I hope that you're doing fine and that you'll be back eventually to grace us with more cool videos of your life at sea. It has been a while.
Seriously awesome to see Chef Nina & Chef Tilly back together. Sadly this is from last year, but still love it the second time around! Missed you both Chef Nina & Chef Tilly! ❤️😬🤙🏾
Nina and Tilly's Greatest Hits. Brilliant! Reminds me of when a housemate went salmon fishing in Alaska and called to tell me to make room in the freezer and be ready for an overnight package. The package was 60+ pounds of fresh caught, flash frozen Alaska salmon. 🤣 My buddy didn't cook and I found many different ways to prepare salmon: grilled, broiled, pan seared, salmon pie, salmon en papillote, etc, etc 🙃
Thanks Nina to have posted again ! Beautiful scenery and amazing drone footage in this part of Alaska 👍. Just hope that all the crew could appreciate your " Special Fish Menu from Alaska " 😉
My hat is off to you; the editing to mask the yaught name, particularly on the uniforms (very subtle, extremely well done), so you can repost of this old content is a herculean effort.
My very first build with Habitat for Humanity was in Anchorage Alaska. On weekends when we were not building we travelled to Seward and Homer. We, too, were in a glacier park and it was then that I realized first hand what global warming actually looked like --- just as in this video -- chunks of glacier ice plunging into the water with completely bare peaks behind. It registered. After the fabulous Alaska build it turned out that I was able to built on every habitable continent and Africa twice so I have seen a lot and have a very different global perspective than when I started out. Truly every build was the opportunity of a lifetime. Love these videos, Nina -- am new to them and have subscribed ! Cheers!
THAT…WAS…EPIC!!! Thank you SO MUCH FOR SHARING!! It’s SINCERELY APPRECIATED!! I grew up fishing for lingcod, rockfish, halibut asst. Salmon & crabbing for Dungeness. I know EXACTLY how heavenly fresh spot prawns, lingcod & rockfish are! Thanks again Chef! Here’s to your good health and many happy adventures to come! ❤️💐🎉🍾🥂
And this is why you won the 2022 ACREW award for best social media yachtie!!!! The drone footage in the 2nd half of the video was great (the second time ;) ). In addition to Tilly, I also miss 2nd Engineer Mark he was funny! I wish you could've done more content with your stews, they seemed like a nice and fun bunch. Finally, I owe this video to starting to eat Halibut at home, but every so often! IT is expensive!! Love this Nina, thanks for the editing and reposting!!
As soon as i saw the waterfall, i knew you were going to tracy's arm.... i love and miss Juneau!! So many adventures there in AK. Thank you for sharing your experience there. I loved it. My heart is out there, and hopefully someday i can convince my hubby to live there... i lived there for 4 yrs. So worth the snow n rain
Love your videos, I can’t wait to start yachting! Only been In Palma a couple weeks, trying to get my first season in and as much as I was losing hope. Your videos have given me the lifeline to carry on pushing !! Thank you
Aw! Tis reminded me of when I would go deep sea fishing out of Southern California. The trip organizer was best friends with a local restaurant owner who was also into fishing. As the boat's crew would carve up what we caught from the trip, the restaurant owner would announce to the rest of us that he would exchange any unwanted fish for vouchers to his restaurant. Thanks for the memories!
Great to see you and Mathilde together again in another episode! Please slow down the view of the final product of the food you make so we can get a better of what it looks like. That fresh seafood is impressive!
So great you included all the wildlife and cascading glaciers. Those baby humpbacks were born in the Hawaiian islands! Look how far they had to go for you to see them❤❤❤
Thank you, that’s so unbelievable and unforgettable! These are the important pics of our world. Pay attention, stay healthy and take care, the same for you and for you man in addition to your crew member’s.
i love your videos, i was a graphic designer for 15 years, a chef for 10 years, now i'm a carpenter and i'm finishing the newest yacht 118 meter abekinng&rasmunsen yacht
Fantastic. There is not much better than fresh halibut/flounder - what a monster you guys caught! OMG! The video work here is simply awesome. Just imagine.... 50 years ago it would have taken Jacques Cousteau and a team with bulky film cameras, and with a helicopter, to capture what you did with those orcas! You're doing some beautiful work - glad I keep following!
Absolutely amazing your making the catch, if I were to stay on it for a trip I would definitely opt for fishing and serving what was caught, it makes the trip that much more special. Awesome job and nice footage 👍
What a remarkable video thank you very much for sharing and posting this👍😎 I like the Helly Hansen jackets, number one gear IMO , my wife and I wear them all the time when needed
Great show.. TY.... Scenary is breath-taking....be great to do a outdoor cooking show there..... once remember my captain caught a massive tuna at the back of the yacht...when fileting the flesh was still body warm temperature..... fond memories ❤️
That video was amazing. Your Drone shot of the Whales bubble net feeding was incredible. You are so lucky. Alaska is beautiful. The fish were huge and your fish Tacos looked delicious 😋.
Okay so I had to stop the video and just come down to the comment section to day OMG, THIS CONTENT IS GOLD! I have never been "mesmerised" watching a Vlog. SO SO SO COOL thank you so much for making extra efforts on top of your already hectic job to plan and film it for us!! truly appreciate it!!
I appreciate all of your videos (EXCEPT the 'music") I learn much and enjoy the gorgeous nature and culture of the places you travel. Thank you. Please choose gentler music. Every time the video gets to a wordless section with that music I have to mute it.
One complaint: it would have nice to hear the cracking - the thunder- of the glacier and the sound of the ice hitting the water. But we had to listen to the music. Other than that… LOVED this episode.
The footage today was off the charts...The whales, the seals and waterfalls and glacier...wow!!
And the Nina!

Mint, and thanks to the yacht owners for allowing you to do your stuff !

Wow. This video was outstanding. Well shot, mixed and edited. Great scenery and content to boot. Thanks for sharing.
My hat is off to you; the editing to mask the yaught name, particularly on the uniforms (very subtle, extremely well done), so you can repost of this old content is a herculean effort.
There’s no mistaking the yacht though that’s REVELRY
Phenomenal video. And Nina and Tilly together are like fish and chips. Can’t have one without the other, or else it’s just not right.
I trully miss all of your shows, I think you are a very talented chef and looking forward to new shows when they come.

Every glacier calves in the summer. Nothing to do with climate change.

Amazing! Thank you so much for sharing this experience.
