"Still wie die Nacht und tief wie das Meer soll Deine Liebe sein." A very tragic song by german composer Carl Bohm (1844-1920). Not many Germans know this song and this composer. But Gene Rayburn does...
H/H match update: ... Weird treat for all CNR fans: if you type in "Weird Al Yankovic - CNR" you can find a youtube video of Weird Al's really weird (naturally) song about our beloved CNR! And Gene even makes a cameo! (Sadly, no Brett.) Recap: When time expired yesterday, our newly minted champion had just won $100 with Richard's audience match suggestion. And now, for the H/H match: He chooses "Mr. Richard Dawson." (Gosh, I wish somebody would choose Joyce again! Win or lose, it would finally break that tie that she and Jo Anne Worley have been locked in forever!) Richard's been in a mini slump, having missed the past 3 questions in a row. Looking back a little further, he's matched 5 of the past 15 times. Today's H/H question: "Cherry _______ " Maybe a hard one. I first thought of "cherry picker" but I'm not sure how well-known that expression is, but it has several meanings beyond the elevated platform thingie. Maybe cherry pie is more obvious? Cherry soda? Cherry on top? Richard began writing immediately, but not without glancing to the sixth seat twice (he almost always does that, no matter who happens to be playing that week). It seemed like a short answer. Pie? The contestant confidently says cherry pie. I'm predicting a match... Richard shows his card: Pie! Richard scores his 151st H/H match. Here's the updated leader board showing the 11 celebs with at least 3 H/H matches, ranked by accuracy: Orson Bean - 100% (4 wins in 4 attempts). Gary Burghoff - 83.3% (5 wins in 6 attempts). TIE: Jo Anne Worley - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts). TIE: Joyce Bulifant - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts). Fannie - 52.6% (10 wins in 19 attempts). Betty - 50% (17 wins in 34 attempts). Charles - 47.7% (21 wins in 44 attempts). Jo Ann Pflug - 44.4% (8 wins in 18 attempts). Richard - 40.5% (151 wins in 373 attempts). Brett - 38.5% (20 wins in 52 attempts). Bert Convy - 33.3% (5 wins in 15 attempts). *These stats include every head-to-head match from episode 1 through 653, excluding the lost/missing/damaged episodes: 31, 32, 33, 311, 312, 313, 324, 325, and 645. (As per MatchGameProductions, these episodes "are nowhere to be found and also aren't in the Goodson/Todman Library. Sadly, looks like they are lost forever!")
You know, if you really think about it, Joyce's answer of peace pipe is pretty good. As usual I woulda crashed and burned because I answered pool cue for the long nose Ned question
I would like to know something about this show and others. Who voted Brett Summers mother of the panel? She needs to leave everyone alone and shut up permanently. That’s it
ROFL!! Love how Marc just went alone with it and clue the thinking music after Gene spoke in German.. ;0) Repeat indian question I believe.. ;0) Changed the buzzer sound? ;0)
Brett is just a horrible person. Her insults to Arlene and Joyce are childish and unprofessional. But then Brett was an unaccompanied person anyway. Her only claim to fame was marrying Jack Klugman.
It is still humorous, unless youre too uptight to laugh at something witty and funny. Political correctness killed a lot lot good stuff that everyone laughed at but never looked down at.
What was wrong with Jerald Ford back then? Was it just that he was a republican? If so, that's incredibly discriminating. Or was it because they were angry for parding Nixon of his crimes? If so, that's ridiculous. He made an important point when he says we have to move on from all that.
Ford was a nice guy thrust into a volatile situation. Most of the fun is poked at him being clumsy, falling down the stairs on Air Force One, making misstatements, playing golf and hitting people in the crowd, just being a bit of a clown like GW Bush but not quite as stoopid. It didn't have anything to do with being a Republican.
ROFL! Another fine episode! ;0) ROFL! Love ya Gene! ;0) ROFL! Love ya Charles! ;0) ROFL! Love the entrances, silliness, voices, acting and the fun Gene! ;0) Thank you Charles! ;0) ROFL! Gene! ;0) We can't even match the dates.. ;0) fall down! ;0) sick! ;0) crazy! ;0) different buzzer? ;0) long hand! ;0) boo! ;0) They had the same problem over there.. ;0) brailed! ;0) Please Joey! ;0) french! ;0) dark! ;0) she didn't bring it with her.. ;0) peace pipe! ;0) I didn't think it was possible but you are really going down hill.. ;0) Good we can close the floor and fight for a week like we have been. ;0) john! ;0) floor! ;0) Did you year why my aunt back out of the restaurant? Because she heard the sailors was going to grab her seat.. ;0) boo! ;0) table! ;0) bat! ;0) Somewhat response to Gene's answer. I am about good at the game as anyone.. Better than some.. ;0) pole vault! ;0) bed! ;0) bellhop! ;0) ROFL! Charles! ;0) Chapter 12 next week.. ;0) porter! ;0) wig! ;0) body! ;0)
Oh my gosh! Arlene Francis! This episode will be great. Loved her on What's My Line.
8:17 "i'm sorry sir, i told you this window was closed, GUARD!!"
Gotta love Charles' humor.
The BEST one from Joey all week! " it's been a whole year since I hit a girl in the mouth" It got Brett to shut up, for a few min anyway. lol
Yeah, he seems like the type that would a. hit a woman and b. make a joke about it.
Gotta admire him for getting Brett to shut up.
Arleen is a good sport, she's just from a different generation.
It's just not her game. Watch her on What's My Line. Her deductive mind was impressive, not unlike Sherlock Holmes.
They've had the terrible hotel room question before. The contestant then also said bed...and lost too! Bellhop was the favorite answer both times.
Fun fact: Nancy's daughter is married to actor Matthew Lillard.
Nancy who? The contestant?
Tomorrow the World...is a great answer

That's very 😎, I 💘 that he knows all these obscure facts
Arlene Francis! Love her!
4:10 "Silent like the night and deep like the sea, should make your love blank."
are they never going to have two male contestants on the show : D

They started running out of ideas.
With 650+ episodes, youve found 2.
Imagine how many you could do without slight variations. Not many.

Panelists:
1. Joey Bishop
2. Brett Somers
3. Charles Nelson Reilly
4. Arlene Francis
5. Richard Dawson

Tad borrowed Gene’s rust colored suit from the previous show.
CNR called for that "guard"!! 😝
8:45 -- "longhand" was funny.
I would like to know something about this show and others. Who voted Brett Summers mother of the panel? She needs to leave everyone alone and shut up permanently. That’s it
I'm convinced Joyce got a bonus for each wrong AND stupid answer she gave, with the stipulation of at least trying to match 1 per show.
Clumsy is Fall Down in my book

Jeez, was Joyce even trying?
No, she just tries to be funny.
In my opinion Joyce usually gives good answers on here
Joey...😂😂😂😂😂😂
I guess all the "gay innuendo" back then was considered comedy.

Ford was notorious for misspelling words 😉
