It is a great day to gather with my Brothers of the Six Strings. Watching while eating fudge cookies N Drinking Coke.
So glad to be here Sarge
Glad to be a part of this.
I do hope your Friday has been well and your weekend even better.
Peace Brother
@@hkguitar1984 one of the best. Going to see Blue Oyster Cult next month. Oh yeah!
@@sgt.grinch3299 Oh wow, BOC should be a great show. So many great songs, it will be like time-travel back to the '70s.
Way Cool Sir
That sounds about perfect Sgt! 👍
Hey there HK!! Hope you guys are all doing well!!
As a lefty, 100% agree with your idea for a left handed guitar megastore, its incredibly difficult to source new left handed guitars down here in Australia. I've actually had the best luck so far with your old mates over in the Netherlands, the Fellowship of Acoustics. Bought a lefty ES-335 and most recently a lefty Hummingbird just last week from them, apparently there are more left handed people as a percentage of population over there than in any other country, so the majority of left handed Gibsons at least get sent over there.
As a Lefty, I agree !
Hoping to get my own back here, for some reason Trogly never mentioned the 54 burst convertion with genuine PAF's....... I wonder if he was keeping it quiet because he fancied a crafty bid?
Happy Friday Troglodytes
Greetings HK. An awesome day to end the week.
Yep, it’s called Southpaw Guitars. It’s here in Houston.
Jerry's left handed guitars - has a web site - out of Sarasota area in FL.
I seem to recall Pete Thorn talking about a lefty guitar shop in Tokyo.
There is a left handed guitar shop in Florida, I think it is in St. Pete.
There should be a "lefty" shop - I nominate The Leftorium! Flanders would be so proud.
Yes
We are early today!
You made the podium for today and earned a Bronze Medal.
Can we just start a petition to get Trogly to be the official historian of Gibson guitars? Let him run the Gibson Museum, and have them buy his guitars for their collection.
His enthusiasm for the Les Paul is impressive. I started watching this channel 4-5 years ago, and although I always like the LP shape I was definitely a Fender only kind of guy. Slowly I started seeing Gibsons that I really liked. Fast forward to today and I have a Les Paul of my own. Probably doesn't happen without Trogly's input.
@@mickeyknox9341 Take a shot every time he says “Gibson could charge another $500 for that.“🫣🤪😫
Bought a Gibson Es 390 (Small body, P90s) from Gardner Houlgate. Rare as Hen's Teeth. Beautiful Guitar Great Service. GH are the best.
Great epi
Hey Trog, do you have any idea where I might be able to find a 58 Jazzmaster neck?
I would love to have that 76 firebird, since I have the 82
If I'd been able to afford a Les Paul DC when they were new, by now, I might have had it molded with stacked volume/tone controls. Otherwise, I don't think I could think of it as anything beyond the PRS body style with a Gibson headstock attached.
I have occasionally daydreamed about playing in a band with two left-handed musicians. That way, I could be to them what McCartney has been to every outfit he's ever played with.
Trogly is the Forgotten Weapons of guitars....
I bet that B-25-12 would definitely neck dive! I've got a regular '66 B-25N, and I love the tone from that guitar. The smaller body produces a really balanced sound. It's a great guitar for recording. The neck is really skinny on it, but I reckon the 12 string variety would be rather neck heavy.
Hi I always thought the mini toggle switch on the 25/50 Les Paul was a boost switch?????
Pictures of guitars, wow.
Jerry's in Sarasota Florida, In The Blues has filmed a few videos there on his channel.
What do you know about the 71-72 SG Deluxe Stereo guitars? From what I've been able to find out there were approximately 150 of these produced and some that I've seen for sale online are pretty price, what's your take on them.
04:25 I ended up with this Les Paul because of Trogly, it's beautiful in person (heavy) just got to find some worn gold covers now 🙂
@The Trogly’s Guitar Show the exact DC studio is available at my local Sam Ash. I can get it if you want to document it. I was considering buying it anyway
The SG convert also looks a little off with the strings going over the pot poles. Not a Gibson expert, but it caught my eye
There's one shop that sells Lefty guitar that Shane from In The Blues Channel review, Jerry's lefty if I'm not wrong.
Oh man that 345 looks sweet
I want that Firebird!!! it's my dream guitar!!!
You should look into and try to get a hold of the Kirk Hammett Gibson V. I think it would make for a really cool review and demo. :)
southpaw is in houston jimmy the owner very hard working dude righty gear too great guys
theres a lp dc on cherry (something tomato is the color called) and some sort of honeyburst, tangerine burst, but cherryburst not that i recall
Would be nice if you linked the auction site...
Since your original post on the guitar auction I've seen a couple of fb posts from a company selling as they called it pieces of musical history. They had stuff like Pink Floyd's Bissin loop system and various other effects and guitars. No prices listed it's all by auction. I have DBS Imperial which is more or less a carved top and back cherry sunburst DC. They're part of the Diamond amp and electronics company started by the same guy who got his first company Dean Guitars ripped off from him after going public. The Bantam looks almost exactly like the guitar I've been looking for since I saw one or similar possibly darker since the late 70s or early 80s. I wish I could pinpoint the time frame. Seeing that 12 string with the color it is reminds me of an acoustic my brothers friend has . It's much of the same color. But it's the heaviest acoustic I've ever picked up to play. Apparently it was left on the beach and the tide came in and the owner found it washing in the tide. He retrieved it and it took on some salt water to the point that it became heavier than it was originally. It's almost like the waves and the salt aged the guitar similarly to if it had been kept in a constant environment and aged naturally. The wood became harder and he says it sounds better than it once did.
No way,I was just about to send you this link trogly!!
Woot woot Trogly's 🙌
Ditto 😉
00:25 Are those 1997 Studio DC's all 24 fret?
In Japan, it was in Tokyo, there was a left hand only shop…if it’s still there, who knows
Trog that Lefty 70's standard. Love it . You can tell the difference, between . Lab aging and real deal played .
That custom Kahler looks so clean
Are you going to get your hands on the Eddie Munson NJ Warlock? I think you should 100% do that
Great video.
I don't know about a museum or anything, but there is Jerry's Left-Handed Guitars in Sarasota Florida and everything that he carries is for the left-handed player.
Why not show the price of the Gibson Bicentennial Firebird? I had a black one I traded for a strat in '81, and wonder what they are worth?
Pat Travers plays a sunburst double cutaway
Did I just see my new baby at the end? If Ned Flanders won't close the Leftorium to open your Lefty Museum, and you decide to add a lefty wing to yours, she'd be happy to spend some time in it!
In 1999 i had a chance to buy a 1972 SG standard with the original embossed pickups for $500…. It was in pretty good shape too….. at that time i was 20 years old and just couldn’t afford it…. Damn
@@-jb5701 ? You want to sell one?
Oi.... pack it in, how am I meant to get any bargains if you're telling everyone, I had my eye on the lefty convertion, now the "flippers" will be stripping the pickups off it 😡
i really like the Kurt Cobain Jaguar, would like to hear your thoughts about it some day!
@The Trogly's Guitar Show, just wanted to let you know Crimson Guitars bought some of these guitars and want to get in to contact with you about your thoughts on and rebuild ideas for the 1976 S-1 modified guitar. Cheers! 🤘🎸
My brother had a Gibson s-1 once upon a time, it was stolen off stage just before a gig in a local bar.
awe yeah \m/
You always seem to find the coolest gibsons! Have you seen the Justin Hawkins customs? I love the gold one!
Firebird or E345 would be my pick of the bunch.
There is a left handed only guitar shop in Paris…. Cool place.
Yo
Grant, we meet again, Greetings 😉
Good evening Grant
Interesting video

Trogly, did you miss the Foo Fighters/Dave Grohl Gretsch White Falcon (lot 636)? And the '52 Les Paul '59 Conversion (lot 435)? They are the two highlights of the sale, in my opinion. 🤔🤫
Dude, you need to review an Aerodyne.
HOW DOES HE PRODUCE DAILY VIDEOS!!!!!!!!!!??????????????? I LOVE IT
Seeing all car releases today I forgot my other hobby was guitar so back to it I guess
Indeed Yes
Always good to have more than one passion
You miss there is a buyers premium and UK sales Tax (VAT) on the buyers premium in total ~27% on every sale
I am sure since you are taking it outside of UK, you could ask for a tax return on leaving UK. We used to do this all the time with stuff before joining EU. Drive 30minutes, buy new tires...for the car, and then on the border get back the VAT paid in that country
@@tnikoli40 You pay 20% buyer's commission fixed and then you pay 22% sales tax for the pleasure of purchasing it in the UK - the tax is not on the guitar it is on the buyer's commission which you do not export .
les paul recording is nice.
man i might not be great at guitars but man are they beautiful
With guitar the following analogy is very fitting (IMHO).
You don't have to ride a bicycle like Lance Armstrong to enjoy riding, and so to it's the same with guitar.
It's all about fun and exploration.
Yeah, guitars are just beautiful, to look at and to play.
I’ve never seen a 24 fret Gibson before!
24 fret models are rarely released but there are plenty out there if you are looking. Trogly has reviewed a few in the past.
Ohhhhhh…lefty’s!!!👍🙏😂
Yahoo
Greetings Nicholas, very quick today 👍
I got all excited for a guitar on that auction, I placed a bid and then I realized they don't use internationally. Oh no.
Ive never understood why being left-handed would make anyone want to hold the guitar differently, Im left-handed and considered it an advantage for my fretting hand to be my dominant hand, I didnt even know there was an option. What a major pain to not be able to play the guitars in a big guitar store.
Now I want a Studio DC. Thanks for spending money I don't have Trogly. LOL Joking aside, I do not remember the studio DCs.
Im thinking some bass content is overdue
hello fellow guitar nerds!
Greetings Dylan
Yes indeed, I've been a certified guitar nerd since 1974!
😉
I don't think they need your help to sell these Guitars, the rooms packed on the day always is. I should record it for you to watch.
Recording Les Paul's are all walnut, not mahogany 😉
No hard working musician can touch any Gibson and their prices. I had an ES-335 once with it a Fender Twin Reverb back in 74 and it was horrible. 30 years later I learned it was the speakers that were in the cabinet of Altec Lancing's. I never knew. Today I'm making my own. I planned this for years. I'm making 3 LPs, 3 Tellies, 2 5-string basses and 1 strat. With them 1 fingerboard from Brazilian and another from Madagascar rosewood, 4 of maple with flair for movement and the 8 ebony and with movement too and no dyes on any fingerboards. Frets are medium size and all will have wood binding of opposing colors from dark to light and opposites. I flatten the boards today. Next handplane unfinished areas after the table plan to get what machine miss. No CNC can't afford one. I sunk my money on the 22" disk sander. I thought I was going to build acoustic but my wife and I have a nice couple of Martin's and Taylor's from dreadnought, auditorium and a junior jumbo J250 Breedlove that has an outstanding tone with flamed maple laminate looks great but the flame doesn't move much. So it electric guitars.
I have many Gibson guitars and didn’t go broke
🤘👍
Just screw them all and buy an old later 1970s, early '80s Epiphone Genesis. I had a black one and a Gibson Les Paul Standard in cherry sunburst at the same time. The Genesis made the LP sound like a Telecaster. Mine weighted 13 lbs. Hard to find one now though, without a headstock repair due to all that body weight snapping the 17 degrees headstock in any mishap, and maybe some fingerboard warping in the upper frets. Mine was showing the odd fretboard back in 1995 already, but I sold it for a slight profit. Miss it. Then they got the goofy thing going on where the D and G strings twist around the A and B tuner posts, ha. They have a coil tap, so quite the versatile guitar. Even the single coils sound fat.
Just a little bit of any ugly guitar, ha. They do have the new Genesis models and Genesis DC Pros to consider also, imports, but they look interesting. Haven't seen one in a store to try out though.

Congrats on Your Gold
Just to clarify, the trapeze tailpiece on the 70's 3X5 guitars is not the main reason those guitars are not desirable. It's the lack of a neck tenon, the neck size & profile, the lesser quality woods, & the decline in quality from the pre 69 models. This is also true for pretty much every 70's model for the exact same reasons. It seems like people just gloss over these issues because they are trying to increase the value of 70's Gibson's. Not saying all 70's Gibson's are bad. But you are far more likely to find a great guitar made in 1968 than in 1975.
Nice!
We made it to Friday, Greetings Adam
Well done you earned a Silver Medal for today
Congrats on the Silver Adam 👍
Hey Trog, it would be nice as part of the workbench section if you would weigh the guitars. I'm always interested in what these guitars weigh, especially the Les Pauls. It would be an interesting feature to your reviews.
He usually does. Did it get edited out of the last couple? I haven't noticed.
Unfortunately he was receiving allot of scrutiny from the online fat guitars community. In light of public outrage from their spokes(person), and to create a more a more inclusive optic for fat guitars everywhere, the weigh ins will be suspended until further notice.
@@holstorrsceadus1990 definitely did weigh the one he got from the mod collection in his review yesterday.
@@rheinhardtgrafvonthiesenha8185 Yes, there have been accusations of the measurements being taken with the strap on (but hidden).
Given the current state of the world, weights should not be published.
Also, glamorizing and overly attractive guitar can unrealistically set the bar too high for other less fortunate instruments.
I've even heard rumors of the Ovation Breadwinner filing an action against both Fender and Gibson Custom Shops as well as the PRS Wood Library!
....a....LEFTORIUM, if you will....
$50-100 USD for a chicken head knob? 🤕
Definitely not first. Hello Everyone 👋
I believe a combination of museum and specialty lefty guitars would make a great collaboration 😏
