I like watching the fish in the pond - it takes my mind off wanting air and the fish watch me - in my videos they are often around me - I am no expert but I have fun with it - I quit wearing my watch in the pond, I don't know how long I was under until I look at the film later - I just do my best within limits
great. just remember never do this alone in the water.
Peace in every breath. Awesome buddy!!!
peace ✌️
maybe that's my problem being more focused on the goal than the path...thanks for the reminder...🙏🐢
You are so welcome
Thanks for the advice 👍
Any time!
The hardest thing about getting certifications is knowing you have to hit a performance target. They are inherently stressing.
that's why I'm against certifications. they contribute nothing to your progress.
@@gertleroy that's probably fair. It seems like certifications and the classes attached to them are deeply embedded in diving, though.
@@slgarrett it's a funnel. system to get you to the next course. it's about business
@@gertleroy Far be it from me to suggest that people should not make money. We all have to buy groceries, after all.
@@slgarrett it's an observation, not an emotional statement. in a world without business there wouldn't be certifications.
I’m making progress. You’ve answered my questions before, thank you for that. I still need to do Breathe ups for longer breath holds. You mentioned to me before maybe one day I won’t need to do breath ups. I’d like to get consistent 2 minute dives. I’m almost there, can get 1.5min dives regularly. I suppose I just need to keep diving. I notice my technique improves automatically the more I go but the breath up aspect still confuses me quite a bit. I’m currently doing one minute no movement and very soft breathing when I surface, and then I do 4-8 bigger breath in with slower, earth Vader exhale. I can actually get 2 minutes when fully relaxed but not consistently.
do tidal breathing as a breatheup. just normal brearhing. search for my video on breathe-up
@@gertleroy Gert thx I have tried that and my down times are so low, but I know you’ve told me in the past it should work with more experience.
@@bluedoggum8373 yes, because what you're doing is already a firm of hyperventilation menqinf you're expelling Co2 which bypasses the urge to breathe. You need to do tidal breathing.
Nice! So that's why i was holding my breath for 1 minute😂
let us know how things go after implementing the tips in this video
i have a hard time holding my breath i only get far when i feel pressure on my lungs what kind of phenomenon is this?
I dont think this is a phenomenon. I think you need to. learn the skill of relaxation. please watch my Playlist breathing techniques for freediving
I don't know why it happens but sometimes I can hold breath up to 2 min or 1.5 min but sometimes.. I can't even hold breath for 30 second 😶
you need to be fully relaxed before
@@gertleroy I do but I also don't understand..
@@hellobtsarmy2507 you're not fully relaxed. I can come to that conclusion already by the way you write your comments. woek on your mindset.

Lots of life lessons in the message
thats freediving! 🙏🙏🙏
😂😂yes yes
it's crazy I can hold my breath for 1: 40 out of water but if I am in the water my average is only 40secs. It is really a mental thing, I need to learn how to relax in the water because my body clearly can live over a minute and a half without breath
Update: I started my whole freediving journey in the deep water and trying to get deep with one breath and didn't do step by step. I tried to hold my breath in shallow water where I was more comfortable because I knew, whatever happens I will just stand up (waist high deep water). Magically I was mentally calm and I was able to do 1: 40 under water just like outside of the water. Basically for first try. Now I know I am capable of doing it, I'm quite sure I can do it in deep water as well. A little bit more practice and I think I can reach 2mins.
when you sit down and then you stand up, you have to be very careful. you need to stand up very slowly, because the change in position can cause a sudden drop in blood pressure.
apart from that, stop doing 3-6 and start tidal breathing. apnea walk is a simulation of a dive, and for anything in the water we do not use 3-6, but we use tidal breathing. You light think 3-6 is not hyperventilation, but depending on how you do it it might be hyperventilation anyway.
@@gertleroy muito obrigado por me responder. Pararei sim com essa respiração, só estava fazendo porque estava sendo cauteloso. Vou voltar com a respiração normal.

Hi Gert! Maybe you know, why when I take air at full lungs, I have a few seconds dark in my eyes?
taking a full inhale creates pressure on the heart because of bigger lung volume. this might result in temporary reduced blood flow. if this continues, take a bit less air.
@@gertleroy Wow. Thanks for the quick reply! Next I will try to use a little less air. Peace in breath! ;)

Water pressure my guy
Hi I am 13 years old and I have been training 1week but that was one year ago and now I tried to hold my breath and I got to 3:01 min is that any good?
don't think in terms of good or bad. think in terms of understanding and becoming more knowledgeable
Why is it easier to hold the breath after the inhale, rather than after the exhale, when the logic says it should be the opposite? I am really interested in this. I heard that the buildup of CO2 makes you want to breathe, and logic says that if you exhale the CO2 you will have less of it in your blood, so the chemoreceptors are not going to care for a longer time (this is what I understood, I do not consider myself a guy full of knowledge i this topic). However, everybody I know can hold their breath longer after an inhale, including me. Why does this happen
because you have more oxygen.
@@gertleroy You mean, the exhalation also exhales some oxygen from your body?
@@aleksalazic7962 off course it does. you need to keep all your air in
@@gertleroy is there some benefit to holding the breath after the exhale (like at the end of box breathing)

no.
