Craig, if I may I'd like to recommend just one more item to consider. The Madstad windshield bracket. I added one to mine and it really is worth every penny. Why Yamaha couldn't add something similar is beyond me. This thing should come as standard equipment on any bike with a windscreen. Love what you've done with yours so far! Take care and ride safe!
Take a look at some of my earlier videos, one of the first things I added was the Madstad bracket and shield. I agree it is a big improvement! The stock bracket was pretty bad. Not easily adjustable, and the shield was too small for the highway. Thanks!
Craig, if you allow me, should better protect the front of the bike (headlights, radiator, windshield) and also change the selector speeds (one flexible) and take the factory as a substitute), moreover, I think this all five-star! ! Although I am a "BM" biker, I started with a Ténéré (in the late 80s), and no matter the brand, what matters is to be on a bike! Thank you for the videos, safes travels, from, Portugal. Sérgio André
Craig, all my protection pieces also came from Altrider. Yeah, pretty $$$ but worth it. Looking forward to your PIAA light review. My S10 ES goes into the shop for the Arrow full exhaust headers and to install the PIAA driving lights next week.
Yes, I have one for gas and one for water. I still have to remove the grab rails to fit the gas can, then if I lower the rear rack I can fit both cans and then use them as platform for my dry bag. At least in theory. Still have to try it out.
We have a guy here in Denver called bitchen stichen he custom makes your saddle while you're sitting on the bike, you spend the whole day there but at the end you have a custom seat made for your own ass for between 200 to 300 bucks. The stock seat is incredibly painful. just did 3000 miles in 10 days and had to take a break every 125 miles
Is the bike everything you wanted? I see the madstad so it looks like you had to go with the big Hun for the wind. How is the heat when riding in hot weather?
It was 90 on the way home today and I was fine. I had all the vents in the jacket open and as long as I am moving, I am good. Is the bike all I wanted...? Yes, so far it does everything I need it to do. I will take it off road this weekend so I can say more after that. But it works very well as a commuter and I have spent a few long days on it and while not as comfortable as my big touring bike, it is quite comfortable. An so far everything works great.
I want a bike that if I do decide to go cross country one day than I don't have to think about buying another bike :). Basically all around bike. I am not too crazy about going fast or dragging my knees :).. Just want to enjoy the ride.
Either bike will do what you mention. I have have not ridden the GT yet, but did ride the FJ09 which is similar. Very nice bike, the 3 cylinder engine is great. I believe the GT now comes with cruise control...at least that is what I read. Go ride both bike and get the one you like best.
Very nice. Its amazing how close in price you came to R1200GSA (about 4K difference now). A question for you. Do you mount the bike by stepping on the peg and supporting on the kickstand? My old legs just cant make the swing any more (and I'm 6'1").
The GSA was going to cost 25 to 26 to get it home. Then you would add any extras on top of that. I probably would not had to add quite as much, but we are still looking at about a 5 grand difference. Now the way I am going I may make that up...lol. Yes I use the foot peg to mount the bike. I would end up needing a hip replacement if tried lifting my leg over the seat and bags. I am actually planning a video at some point discussing how I have learned to handle the extra height. I get a lot of questions from my cruiser buddies. Thanks!
Craig, stay safe. I really enjoy your videos. I am seriously considering the Tenere. I have a HD Road King currently. The Tenere would be the second bike.
Right now I have the Mitas E07 Dakar installed. I am impressed with how good they are on the road. I have been up to 80 with them...would not want to go much faster. They are also good in dirt, mud and sand. I have not ridden them in the rain yet. Some say they are a bit slippery. My Panniers are SW MOTECH.
Hi Craig, do you know if it’s any upper engine crash guards like yours compatible with OEM Frame Guards of Super Tenere 1200 year 2014? Thanks in advance
Unfortunately I don't know how compatible the AltRider crash bars are with the OEM engine guards. I would suspect that they are not compatible, but don't know for sure. Most manufactures have their own lower and upper sets. For maximum compatibility, you might want to stick with the same company. Thanks!

My apologies for missing that video!
+Greg got away No problem, great minds think alike.
The project is looking great.
Thank you, appreciate it!
Nice selection. Good video. I look forward to hearing about the lights and tires.
Thank you!
Another informative well put together video, keep them coming Craig.Ian in UK.
Thank you!

Nice. I was looking at an exhaust up grade in the future. Let us know how it goes. Thanks!
Have you thought of putting a Roto pac gas can on the lower plate? That may level it with the top and give you a level mounting surface for a bag.

Nice video, clear and concise. Thanks.
Thank you!
Have you done a video on changing out the coolant and the one you use
I have not at this point. May be doing it thus year. Thanks!
Excellent video, bike, and mods. Subbed.
Thanks, I appreciate it!

Did you on your first off-road tour? How did it go?
I did. I learned a lot, it was fun, but also difficult and frustrating. I will do a video, I just have not had time since I got back.
Cool! Nice job on the videos. Very well thought through.
Thanks!

I am having such a hard time deciding if I should get 2018 Tenere or 2019 Tracer 900 GT. People keep saying that Tenere is tap heavy.
I would say it depends on the type of riding you are going to do. The Tenere is not top heavy. It carries its weight very well.

No dealer in my area offers test rides :(.
Thank you so much for your response. I love watching your videos. Keep them coming!!!!
I got the same bike and color good video ...
Thank you!
I have a 2012 with same seat. Love it, much better than OEM.
I agree, it is better than the stock seat. But I am still getting some discomfort in the back of my legs. It may be the seat inclination. Thanks!

Thank you, I appreciate the kind words. So far I really like the Tenere. It is a great choice as a second bike. Have fun and ride safe!
You look quite buff, do you work out ?
Thanks, yes I try.
Cut out the cigars!!!! Lol defeats the purpose
Love the hat.
I've got a 15 ES as well, even the same color! What tires are you running? Are those Bumot Paniers? If so how do you like them?
