In this sweet musical comedy/drama, Jimmy Durante, June Allyson, and conductor José Iturbi share the screen with precocious eight-year-old Margaret O'Brien. Little "Mike" (O'Brien) tries to help her pregnant older sister (Allyson), a cellist in Iturbi's orchestra who is pining away for her soldier husband. Among the musical highlights in the movie is Jimmy Durante giving a stirring rendition of his famed nightclub piece "Umbriago."

I'm 20 years old and I just saw this movie on tv. I'm 20 and have heard of Jimmy Durante but never seen him. What a Hilarious ans purely funny guy. I couldn't stop 😂😂😂 when bv he pushed the piano.
I never knew how great he was until these postings.
This was the Vauderville Act of Layton, Jackson and Durante. Layton the drummer was the brains who wrote the songs and the jokes. Jackson's timing (he's the one that blocks Jimmy's way) was impeccable. It's because of them we have the Phrase, "The Elephant in the room" Jimmy Durante came on stage with an elephant and Jackson said; "Jimmy what are you doing with that Elephant? Durante replied, what elephant"
