And said Bass sounds *AMAZING!*, and as a 6 (soon to be 7 when my Special Order comes in) Spector Bass Owner I'd be first on the list to purchase one... if Spector made a Bolt-On Version. All but one of my Spectors are "ReBop 4/5 DLX FMs & EXs", except for my Legend Classic 6-String, as Spector doesn't make a "ReBop 6", and it makes far more sense *for me* to go to the next line down and modify the Pickups, Preamp & Tuners to be as close to my ReBops as possible rather then spend a HUGE amount on a "Euro6 LX" that I'd honestly play the least of all my Spectors (I picked up the Legend Classic 6 for a *steal* of a price) as I'm not a fan of the woods combinations and Electronics used in it. ...but an Alex Webster ReBop5 DLX FM models? I'd be there with the metaphorical Bells On! 👍🏼
@@scottlapier4797 I have his book too and it's helping me a lot with my own bass playing. Would definitely like to meet Alex one day be able to chat about bass playing and gear with him
i appreciate a lot the earthiness and kindness of Alex, he's a great knowledgeable artist&bassist with great taste tonewise.thank you Darkglasseffects for the video
He's an absolute gent. Cannibal Corpse came to Cork in 2006 and I got into conversation about music and other topics with him after the show. He's one of those people that you kinda feel as if you've known for your entire life
Alex is awesome, he knows exactly what people who watch these kinds of videos want to know, and he cares enough to get right to it. I watched a rig rundown for The Edge from U2 and he couldn’t be bothered to do the interview, he had his tech do it. Like I should’ve been surprised.
Holy crap, Alex always sounded awesome with just his Spector "straight" in, but with the B3K that's just totally over the top and badass. Being a Spector player myself pretty sure I need to get one of these...
I've been having that problem too. I used a sansamp bass driver for years and having an active bass was nice because it doesn't have a lot of gain on its own. I'm using a B7K Ultra now and it has an insane amount of gain, if my bass's volume knob is higher than halfway then it gets really fuzzy and noisy and you can't hear what notes I'm playing anymore. I want to just get a passive bass so I don't have to worry about batteries anymore
Fender bought SWR and Genz-Benz years ago and I haven't seen much of anything from them in a while, which makes sense as Fender are trying to reintroduce/revamp their bass line as a whole. Sad too. SWR made some great sounding stuff, even if a tad underpowered at times. I loved their speaker cabinets- very clean and responsive.
New(ish) strings are also very important. If your strings are dead, your high end frequencies will be really muted and you won't be able to hear all the chunky clicking noises he gets from hitting the strings. If you practice on a regular basis (like 30 mins to an hour every day), you should be changing your strings 3 or 4 times a year. If your strings are more than 6 months old it's time for a new set
"Gear Rundown here with Alex Webster. Can you give us a rundown of your setup". "Sure. Bass into pedal into amp". ......."Awesome. Thanks for watching Gear Rundown. Don't forget to like and subscribe". What every bass player's rig should be like.
Although Alex is one the best metal bass players in the world, unfortunately, many Cannibal mixes do not have clarity and it's hard to hear the bass lines. I'm speaking specifically for the high's mids of the bass. Torture, red before black and a skeletal domain have audible bass. But, Bloodthirst, the wretched spawn and many others lack clarity
how is aguilar pronounced? i always thought it was AGWILLA i'm not much a fan of cannabis crops but damn alex is a sick bass player and i always watch any video he's featured on about bass. of his i'm a fan but not much into death metal.
Was this recorded direct or with a mic? Also, what are the setting for his b3ks switches? Looks like it's on fat with the attack off?

It sounds like the strings are too loose not enough draw, maybe try benji straight strings from klausen Gilmore will give more punch. And use Duisburg quantum punch when you verb clutch. For sure you'll get it dude. Rock on 🎸
Na, man, he uses really low action, possibly like I do. I like to go just about the frets (if possible). That will naturally produce a "twangier" and/or more percussive style, especially if you pluck or pick hard. The same for Rex Brown's tone (Pantera): ua-cam.com/video/uQ8rg3S3vpI/v-deo.html
He uses one now he switches between alot of the darkglass overdrives he's even used the vintage microtubes if you look on his instagram you can see what gear he's using on each tour
Everybody's favorite bass player
And he's a really cool guy. Very humble
He actually showed what his bass sounds like when introducing his setups, unlike almost all other bands.

Alex is the most professional bass player in the metal scene .
Indeed. I just bought his book, its very well written and informative. He seems like he'd be a cool guy to hang out with.

Yeah
Always a gentleman
Not a big cannibal corpse fan but I’m a huge Alex Webster fan
The same my Man, just the same
So nice guy
21/5000
the same goes for me. this man kills with the bass.
Same
Exact same, I love blotted science and conquering dystopia. I love Alex’s bass work and bass tone but I can’t listen to Cannibal Corpse.
Understandable*
That sound and that skill
He's such a gear nerd, I love it!
Alex is the coolest death metal musician
Alex's kick ass solo is at 3:20 if you were wondering.
Awesome. Hail Alex Webster. Long Live Cannibal Corpse.
These sound insane on Spectors. I can't wait to hear it with my Euro. \m/
i appreciate a lot the earthiness and kindness of Alex, he's a great knowledgeable artist&bassist with great taste tonewise.thank you Darkglasseffects for the video

Alex Webster is my bass master. Long live to Cannibal Corpse \m/ Thanks to Darkglass!
That would make good show: Bass Masters
Dat sound
Damn, Alex is such a badass bass player and such a cool guy at the same time. :D
Kick-ass sound man! The Bleeding is a classic 666
great video, thank you for really getting up close so you can see exactly what he is using and the settings on the pedal board and amp
I love this guy! He’s an awesome bass player. Tone is nasty too
why does he remind me of Dave Mustaine except more "nerdy" and chill?
the voice.
Well Mustaine is pretty nerdy
Mustaine but cool
Doug, you are a mad scientist of bass tone. Thank you for your products!
Alex Webster is the GOAT of death bass
I know its 10 years old and he's upgraded since then, but this vid convinced me to buy a B3K pedal for my bass and it fucking rules
he is so cool and un rock star down to earth bass player its so nice , he has my respect
Alex webster, the master of metal bass!! \m/
Holy crap, Alex always sounded awesome with just his Spector "straight" in, but with the B3K that's just totally over the top and badass. Being a Spector player myself pretty sure I need to get one of these...
He swapped to SWR for a while right? I know he retired his Ampegs from live performances
This guy is an amazing bass player!
My bass is active and when I enter in my Alpha Omega the lows get just way too distorted and farty. Bringing the input volume down helps a lot.
Big time fan of Alex's playing style!!!!
now thats the Tone! hoping to duplicate that with my thumb5 aguilar db659 and eden cabs when my bk3 comes in this week!
Im a simple man. I see "Alex Webster", i click.

They did? 3 brands under FMIC have ceased production in recent years. Let's hope SWR don't fall by the wayside cuz their amps are really good
I didn't know they bought either company.
Looks like he has an Eden Amp as well (for backup?). I used to run two Eden WT300's at the same time - one into a SWR 2x12 and one into a SWR 8x8.
I love that bass tone
alex has always been a beast
Omg I want his bass gear, that's fucking brutal
Great gear and skill for him
what do you hear when he plays with no pedal??? couse that is an sweet sound aswell!
the spector bass, the aguilar amp, and above all, his picking hand technique
sweet thanks :)

Thats a pretty banged up pedalboard for shure.
Simply the best
Thanks!
wow, how does he keep his gear so clean lol that pedal is sick!
That bass sounds sexy.
Bass to EQ to pedal to DI to PA board. That's a suprisingly simple rig indeed!
This guy gets it.
sounds so fuckin good
Did he say his bass was too growly for Cannibal Corpse?
Correct. SWR is pretty much gone. I hear one of the major companies bought them and shut down production.
Fender
Alex is Godddddd!
Gear obsessed!
"Gear Rundown here with Alex Webster. Can you give us a rundown of your setup".
"Sure. Bass into pedal into amp".
......."Awesome. Thanks for watching Gear Rundown. Don't forget to like and subscribe".
What every bass player's rig should be like.
Fucking sold, mate! :)
It’s cool when they riff out a little instead of just talking about the set up and no playing.
Holy shit, this is the simplest rig I've seen for a bassist, awesome.
I thought he used shit ton of effect pedals. Not, gonna mention any names haha
someone give the eqs for that tone PLEASE
Simple yet perfect.
Although Alex is one the best metal bass players in the world, unfortunately, many Cannibal mixes do not have clarity and it's hard to hear the bass lines. I'm speaking specifically for the high's mids of the bass. Torture, red before black and a skeletal domain have audible bass. But, Bloodthirst, the wretched spawn and many others lack clarity
did anyone see the sansamp in his rig? I know he use to use it. is it still there in his DI?
TELL ME MORE!!!!!
how is aguilar pronounced? i always thought it was AGWILLA
i'm not much a fan of cannabis crops but damn alex is a sick bass player and i always watch any video he's featured on about bass. of his i'm a fan but not much into death metal.
sounds like he has some other tone control on before that pedal.
what is it
quien me puede desir el nombre de cada pedal de efectos de alex?
yeison david ruiz ramirez afinador, un darkglass b3k (overdrive) y el de abajo desconozco
Radial bass bone
Am i wrog or the action of the bass is extremely low? I can hear the strings buzzing, but it give such an aggressive attack to the tone.
Wouldn’t think less growly and Cannibal Corps would go together
Was this recorded direct or with a mic? Also, what are the setting for his b3ks switches? Looks like it's on fat with the attack off?
It sounds like the strings are too loose not enough draw, maybe try benji straight strings from klausen Gilmore will give more punch. And use Duisburg quantum punch when you verb clutch. For sure you'll get it dude. Rock on 🎸
what pedal is it??
what agular cab or cabs is he using?
Both.
The bass' gain is too growly for cannibal corpse? 😂
is he flicking and pulling the string when he plays?
Na, man, he uses really low action, possibly like I do. I like to go just about the frets (if possible). That will naturally produce a "twangier" and/or more percussive style, especially if you pluck or pick hard.
The same for Rex Brown's tone (Pantera):
ua-cam.com/video/uQ8rg3S3vpI/v-deo.html
Ese bajo suena tostsdito bien rico, curioso que Alex Webster no limpie sus pedales jaajaj
y doesnt he just your the b7k then u have the eq , di and eq and overdrive
alexander chang Perhaps because he doesn't feel like he needs it :)
In the other band hes in he uses a b7k I guess with cc the b3k gave him the tone he wanted so he didnt bother changing it
I'm sure he owns both
He uses one now he switches between alot of the darkglass overdrives he's even used the vintage microtubes if you look on his instagram you can see what gear he's using on each tour
Is it true that cannibal corpse uses b flat tuning?
yes its A#(low) D# G# C# F#(high)
They also use G# tuning.
Dudes faster than pick players
Weeena Doug :D
Лёха ты топ!
I'm the 666th like bitches!
is he using bridge or neck pick up???
I'd say they're being used in tandem. That's usually the case with dual pickup basses.
Both dude, best option for those seasoned bass players.
I reckon he'll make a better music outside CC
I keep thinking he dyed his hair red :/
When have you ever seen it red
my god that TOOOOOOON
Alex and Nollie are exact opposites...gear and clothing wise. Lol
A little to growley that's hilarious
1:46 and then engage...
Matheus Lima instant pass the point of no return
食人尸牛逼!\m/
