    Holy crap, that was a beast. Beautiful fish. You could've thrown water-skis on and gone for a spin with that thing towing you. I'm having good success with bass on lures up in Dublin. There's a spot near Dollymount that surprised the crap out of me. Weedless shad and smallish eel designs are catching them on the flood, and my homemade twitching lures are working better on the ebb. Top-waters can be lethal at night time, especially when there's a decent Moon out. I had to do some leg-work to find them, but it's worth it.

      Thats a Dublin bass soft plastic working well at top of tide and over. Just bought some top waters to try. I've heard the North side has some cracking bass and brilliant fishing. I've put in miles and miles of leg work finding spots and plenty of hours

      @@shamrockfishing6693 I haven't done much on the South side. I've been to Malahide and Red Rock about 9 times so far this summer and have only blanked (with bass) once. Ever since an excellent lure session during a spring tide at Bull Island 3 years ago, I'm hooked on bass fishing. Dollymount bass seem to love baby mullet imitations, especially twitching lures which I've made loads of.
      Anyway, if you get the chance up here you should try. Not nearly as good as Wexforf to Cork, but not bad.

    • @skateboardingjesus4006

      @@PhilInsane try small eel lures close to the bottom on a flooding tide, at the wooden bridge. At the very North end of bull Island, try shallow diving, or twitching lures into the channel all the way through the flooding and ebb tide. Top water lures at dusk can be great there when bass are passing through.

    Well done buddy - That is an awesome fish ! Pike fisherman here and I usually spin using sliders and dead bait but this year I really want to catch a sea bass! Sligo is the nearest water - Any tips on what rod ,line and lures to use apart from the sand eel ? Would pike spinning gear be ok to use ? Thanks in advance!

    • @shamrockfishing6693
      @shamrockfishing6693  Рік тому

      Yep pike gear I think would be fine, I started off with a pike rod myself, I use braid 20lb on a 4000 size reel, but you could use mono, savage gear max rap plugs are brilliant, kilty, and the savage gear seeker line through metals are great to use along with the paddle tails.

    Hiya, thats a cracking Bass and looks a lovely spot. I gave up Bass fishing 3 years ago as I got disheartened blanking it fishing around Dublin plugging . Planning to get back into it next year to try again. Can you twll me what pound fluorocarbon line do you use please? Thanks. Subscribed and looking forward to more of your videos 😃

      Hi Wayne thanks for the comment and subscribing, I use 20lb braid and about 12 inches of 20lb fluorocarbon at the end of the braid with a mini link to attach my lure.
      If you want to meet up next year and do some plugging we can organise that I'm sure

    is it necessary to use a leader?
    gr8 fish btw

    • @shamrockfishing6693
      @shamrockfishing6693  2 роки тому

      No not when I'm spinning or plugging the lures don't weigh that much so no need for a leader, if I was using feathers with a weight then I would have a leader.
      I have a short length of fluorocarbon at the end of the braid it's supposed to be invisible in the water so increasing my chances of a take.

      Hi thanks for comment, I'm using an abu garcia vendetta rod ( don't think they make them anymore) and penn wrath 4000 size reel, rod cost 30 euro and reel was about 40 / 50 euro, you don't need expensive gear to catch fish.
      I've 20lb braid on the reel with a foot of fluorocarbon down to a mini link onto whatever lure I'm using.
