I don't understand the lyrics, but I understand the beauty of this music, this band, this style, this expression. It feels alive, the smell of spring, the smell of the spring, the smell of life.
Beautiful, mesmerizing song and lovely video...so powerful and trance inspiring. I gave it a go on the harmonium, such a beautiful melody. Thank you for sharing your wonderful music and vision. The old ways still live on.
Fantastic music (& video)! I just heard this for the first time today on the weekly "Earth Beat" show on KRVS/88.7 FM (broadcast out of Lafayette, Louisiana).
Many thanks to whomever uploaded all these Nordic songs. I've never heard such mesmerizing vocal harmonies in my life, and I've been a fan of Celtic folk music for nearly 30 years. No wonder the Scandinavians loved the Beatles so much. The rich, complex vocal harmonies here are simply jaw-dropping. SKOAL! jrf
Just read the disclaimer. Does this mean we can't share it with friends on FB? If that is what it means, then I will remove it as soon as I figure out how to so on this cranky IPad. Sorry. It is a lovely video and song. I thought it would be good if more people saw it.
Hello Enigo Frank! A bit late awnser but better late then never. They used to play alot in the mid 90s to 2005 and have released 3 albums I think, sadly the band had a hard time dealing with the singers husband because he was very jelaous and over protected, so sadly they split up and new members got into the band. I dont know if they are still playing but the "new" sound the got after the split up is not Close to being as Good as the old songs :/ Glad you like them, they were a big inspiration for me when I started playing folkmusic and still is to this Day!
@@jonasnilsson742 Interesting - but sad - information, thanks. They have actually 4 CD:s Ranarop 1997 (remastered release 2002) Sjofn (2000) Grimborg (2003) Rimfaxe (2006) I'm a happy owner of all four - all excellent - and I still listen to them regularly after all these years.

Suvetar
(English)
Suvetar, fine matron
Arise to see the seeds
Raise the matron´s corn
So that we may be spared pain
Manutar, matron of the earth
Lift up the shoots from the ground
New shoots from the stumps
So that we may be spared pain
Suvetar, fine matron
Arise to see the seeds
Raise the matron´s corn
So that we may be spared pain
Manutar, matron of the earth
Lift up the shoots from the ground
New shoots from the stumps
So that we may be spared pain
Feed us with honey-eats
Give us honey-drink
Delicious honey-grass
On a blossoming knoll
You have shining silver
You have glistening gold
You have shining silver
You have glistening gold
Suvetar, fine matron
Arise to see the seeds
Raise the matron´s corn
So that we may be spared pain
Manutar, matron of the earth
Lift up the shoots from the ground
New shoots from the stumps
So that we may be spared pain
Feed us with honey-eats
Give us honey-drink
Delicious honey-grass
On a blossoming knoll
You have shining silver
You have glistening gold
You have shining silver
You have glistening gold
Rise up, O maiden black from the soil
Rise up, O maiden black from the soil
Underground crone
Most ancient of Nature´s daughters
Make the peat shoot forth
And the ground turn over
Underground crone
Most ancient of Nature´s daughters
Lift up a thousand seedlings
To reward my efforts
Suvetar, fine matron
Arise to see the seeds
Raise the matron´s corn
So that we may be spared pain
Manutar, matron of the earth
Lift up the shoots from the ground
New shoots from the stumps

You should put a warning about this song. This stuff is addictive. There is blue smoke coming out off my ears.
With Winter approaching fast, this is a refreshing reminder of the Spring that follows.
