Never ceases to amaze me how people living in near poverty scrimp and save for the most expensive, tackiest, over the top weddings when they live in what we would call trailers or lower classes. The ‘dream wedding’ which pits them in greater debt and after marriage they live in a camper, the girl cooking and cleaning, popping out as many kids as the government can afford, no education, no profession, no future. Welcome to the ‘dream’.
I'm rather saddened, Jenna, that you choose to put one way of life as superior to another. Living in a small space requires supreme organisation, and if it means they can be surrounded by their own culture and makes them happy, I don't feel you actually understand travellers/ gypsies. This family paid for the wedding up front, and managed to successfully budget for things that are important to them. I also believe your views of them.having massive families are seriously outdated. It was a beautiful wedding, and everyone had a good time. Your opinions show more about you, than about this lovely family.
Not 100% true, QuinceJelly! There are an equal number of "scroungers" in the wider society! Most traveller men do manual work and support their wives and families as best they can , lacking the same opportunities in early life that we all take for granted, so don't aspire or achieve better paid," white collar" jobs.
I just saw an FYI video about "What happened to the cast of My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding" and many were divorced many times after being beaten by their husbands, kids taken away, arrested for felonies with their husbands for fraud, one was arrested for stealing a thousand dollars and the wedding rings from the purse of the bride who she was supposed to be maid of honor for🤦🏻♀️
That's great to hear, Deborah! Yes, you can tell what a sweet family they all are, can't you! Travellers often pull together this way, as they are very connected within their communities, and the women spend a lot of time with their children.
It's a gypsy custom, so they are only following tradition, as that IS exactly how they have been taught to pose. Yes, I would prefer to capture more natural expressions, but we all find our own ways of posing for the camera, and we don't all have a natural flair for presenting our best selves.
It's not actually a rude gesture, Carol. You are interpreting it from the perspective of your own experiences. The same hand gesture means different things, depending on where you are from.

The doors and windows look great. I think you should paint the door a classic Sicilian colour from your mosaic- so possibly the dark yellow, teal or dark red. It was sweet to see another girl feeding the micini with Luna
Interesting how you chose to focus on the doors and windows, @MamaRebelle! I love strong colours, of course, but the main subject here was naturally the wedding day scenes.

Don't be so hard on her Cheryl. She's relaxed, enjoying her wedding day, and, more to the point, she's in her own home, in her own familiar environment, not in a restaurant, or posing for the camera. Have you never licked your fingers or eaten something in a simple way, when alone, in a familiar environment?
Fair enough. It's good to be able to embrace all styles of weddings, isn't it, as that's what makes each day unique, our own personal input into our wedding day! I've covered 30 weddings in 20 different countries, as well as all kinds of cultures, religions and wedding styles, so can fully appreciate your honesty. Thanks Angela!
I certainly agree that children need to learn many things, but parents can only teach them what they themselves know. Besides, every culture has different ideas as to what constitutes "appropriate" behaviour! At least you were interested enough to make your point heard, and to watch the video, so I thank you for that.
Easy for you to say when you're not a gypsy or traveller travellers and gypsy children have a lot more common sense Den most people in the population including you 😂
Really? Judging by your comments, you haven't any experience of this style of makeup. It's supremely popular with all Muslim weddings, so I guess you haven't been to many of those either?
@dione6388 Oh, I'm sad you said that, but I guess it's just because you have different fashions where you live. I don't think skin tone has anything to do with a hairstyle, really, and these styles are very popular with a lot of my clients, be they Muslims or travellers.
@dione6388 Oh, I see. Thanks for the correction. I understand about skin tones, as they all like to be much more tanned than their natural colour, as do most light skinned people. I get the opposite from people with darker skin tones, who all prefer to look lighter, so am often requested to even attempt to digitally alter clients' skin tones, which is rather sad. We should all be happy with who we are, and how we really look, but not everyone can or wants to accept that. Wedding days are special, though, so it's only natural that brides would want to choose a different look for their wedding day ( ideally their best one, of course!)
