@HassanPlayyz. I used to have an iPhone 4 which was also on iOS 7.1.2 but I gave it away. I also had another iPhone 4 on iOS 6 but it was faulty and I got rid of it, I tried to get it repaired but they said that the phone doesn’t work at all.
I didn't realize downgrading to iOS 6 was so simple! I just finished and I'm in love with the old OS. So snappy and refined!
Can you help me out? iTunes gives me error code 6 whenever i try to downgrade my 4s.
I didn't have that error, but as far as I've read it looks like the best bet is to restart your computer + phone and then from iTunes, go to Advance Steps, choose Rename, move, or delete the iOS software file (.ipsw). Then just install the IOS6 ipsw you downloaded.

I have a small collection of iPhones, and love the 4S's! I've got 6 of them, all working perfectly, both black and white, all on iOS 6.1.3! Two of them are the 64GB variants, I use them as ipod (I need the 30 pin connector for my DAC) and love the build, and the iOS 6!

The 4s on iOS 6 is a beast. I managed to get one with box and charger+cable for 20 Euro (23 US$ or 32 AU$) here in Germany.
It is in almost mint condition and of course I downgraded it to 6.1.3
I love the glass back on the 4s. also, It is my grandmas old phone practically perfect condition, gave it to my cousin, who didn't have a phone because it broke because he threw it all the time. _-_ did not remember that at the time...
I'm more triggered than I should be, but the process is NOT called Reballing. That is when you completely remove the chip, and redo it. Heating it up isn't the same, although it can sometimes have similar (but temporary) results.
I agree. Also heating it up is only a temporary fix. You can do a similar fix by placing the 4S on a light bulb. You just place the top part of the phone on the bulb for a few minutes and the wifi will work again. Keep in mind that the new LED style bulbs do not generate enough heat. The nice thing about this tip is that you do not need to take the phone apart. My 4S has intermittent wifi still today. If it goes out I just repeat the process.
Lol I got an 'immaculate' iPhone 4s for 30 USD. Absolutely no scratches/cracks, and no scratches on the housing, it even came with iOS 7.0.4.
Just fixed up an Iphone 6 with a cracked screen, strangely the tempered screen protector was mint.
WTF!!!!! I tried to trade in my old iPhone 4s once and they offered me less than $1!!!!!

Could this method work on a iPhone 3G? I have a 3G with busted Wi-Fi and would like it to function again.
it might work, this what does is to "melt" the sodder on the chip to sodder again and its called rebaling, i have a friend that has got a shop and he does this but you should take at least the battery cuz you dont want to heat the battery too much, just for safety
It isn't called re-balling, why do so many people think it is called re-balling despite so many other people clearly explaining that it is not. Re-balling involves removing the chip and the old solder and actually re soldering everything in place.

@KinglyGosling72 I just downgraded from ios 9 to ios 6, but it's not a very easy process. To answer your question, it still can be done to this day, so they souldn't be that rare.
Can all the iPhone 4s be downgraded to iOS 6 or just the models of the first year with a certain serial number, like the iPhone 2G downgrade to iOS 1?

If you look at some of the old iphones you can restore any firmware it supported
From 6.1.3 you can update it to 8.4.1. I did this with one of my iPad 2 because iOS 6 is too old for my purposes

I’ve successfully downgrade an iPad 2 GSM 2,2 Model to iOS 6.1.3 with idevicerestore and kdfu. 😃 Now the iPad runs very fast again and iOS 6 is very pretty.

When it gets old the connection gets bad so heating it up reconnect it.
Also this method also work with other chip and phone.
Watch Rewa samsung repair clip they repair audio chip using the same way

you can also downgrade via version spoofing in settings like on iOS 8.4.1, but instead of putting in iOS 6.0 and "BUILD NUMBER HERE" you do iOS 5.0 and "BUILD NUMBER HERE"

BUT instead of writing "6.0" for ProductVersion, use "5.0"
and instead of "XXXXX" for ProductBuildVersion, use "9A334" (Assuming you are using an iPhone 4S)
Make sure that you SAVE the value and double check that it's saved.
Make sure you remove jailbreak using remover before resetting and iOS 6.1.3 OTA should pop up. Good luck!

hey hugh jeffreys i know im a little bit late but i have the same problem with the wifi, i saw some videos and they told me to put the hair drier on the front cam till it says the too hot to use error but i did this multiple times it works for some days but after a week i got to do that again cause wifi does the same thing as yours i dont know what to do

Wait a min... so you just repaired it by heating it up?
It's only a bandaid fix. It reheats the sodder so the chip has a connection again but it's only a matter of time before the issue will resurface. The real fix is to reball it

My iPad 2 is at 9.3.5 and I would like it to be downgraded to iOS 6.1.3. I've tried before but it says the firmware is not compatible. I am on a windows computer, so that could be the problem, but I've tried multiple ways to downgrade this iPad and none of my methods have worked. I was wondering if you possibly knew any other ways, like, downgrading directly from the device? Please help if you can.

Hey Hugh would you know how to fix short distance WiFi after a screen replacement?
Make sure the wifi antenna is connected and not damaged. Its located to the left of headphone jack and right of the wifi chip, on the 4S. Its under a small black bracket held down by one screw.
