I have this same machine, MSI Stealth 2020 version. Overheats constantly, pain in my ass, and I regret buying it. I like the form factor and capacity for work - which is 95% what I use it for - but for me frequently the fans start screaming and I've had overheat shutdowns. This is after a thermal paste upgrade and laptop fan. Go figure.
Which model do you have? I got a 11800h and 3080 Oled model sure fans it's on but it's barely even noticeable unless I'm encoding video. I heard you can to lower heat by undervolting it.

Hey Jarrod, love your videos. I have MSI GS66 2020 (i7, RTX 2060) and am now looking to replace it with a 14" gaming laptop. Are you considering comparing some 14" this year?
@@but1913 I did consider g14, but it is all AMD and it does not support Thunderbolt just yet, so it does not provide as much future proof. At the end I got a good deal on and chose Triton 300 SE for £999 (£300 off).
The GPU wattage is subpar. 70 watts on a 3070ti sounds horrible. However, i think you might get better power draw in games when the CPU dials down a bit
Hey Jarrod, I am having a really hard time choosing between the hp omen 15(RTX 3070) and the asus zephyrus g15(RTX 3070), I understand that the g15 is the overall better device but my biggest concern with it is thermals and performance since it is a very compact machine. I plan on using the laptop for heavy gaming and programming.
I actually just bought an Omen 15 5600H/3060 and it is cooled very well. By default the GPU maxes out at 100W and the CPU 50W, around 70 degrees celsius on the GPU and CPU at 85 degrees when gaming. Even after flashing the GPU VBIOS to 130W + OC, it doesn't pass 76 degrees now. However, I limited the CPU to 25W so it still remains under 90 when gaming
The older generations were compared and it’s likely similar here. Blade is higher build quality, slower if spec’d the same (especially CPU side), way more expensive, but much quieter and a bit cooler.
Hi Jarrod , Can u please make comparison between HP Omen 3070 last year version VS Legion 5 3060 2022. They both currently have the same price and I would like to know because I'm so confused right now 🙃
Hi Bro Can you compare "Asus tuf f15 (2022)" vs "Asus tuf a15 (2022)" ? If you do that it will be highly appreciate. and most of the peoples what to see a direct comparison like you do?
Love MSI but their GS designs are a low point in between their GP/GE and GT series. They are thin but they are heavy and have low powered gpus-an alienware x15x2 have similiar dimensions and weight but packs up to 140w gpu wattage. On the other hand, the smaller and lighter ROG zephyrus/Razer blade lineups have similiar powered gpus in a much more compact and portable form factor.
I think the Alienware's compromised size for cooling is at play here. When you have the large rear chin you can move more airflow, but for a 15 inch laptop the X15 R2 is also deep enough that when stored across the shoulders and that depth is width it doesn't fit in many medium sized backpacks. If you have a bag to accomodate the X15 go ahead but just be aware that it is bigger than other 15 inch laptops. That's why I think the X14 is such a steal when it's on a good 20% off sale. Fits in a backpack, but an 85W 3060 is powerful enough for todays games. If you want more power you have to give up portability. It's light when used on the lap (about 60% of my laptop use) and doesn't hurt your back because it's so thin you barely feel it in your pack, and it snuggles against your back nicely. Bigger thicker heavier laptops will not lay against your back nicely and cause strain. After living with an old heavy Alienware 13 R3 (2.63kg vs 1.79kg x14) this is so much more comfortable to use. I often use the laptop sitting on a chaise couch and the R3 would cause strain on the top of my kneecaps due to the weight. This is not so with the x14 due to 800g less weight. Laptops have gotten so much lighter over the last few years.

gs66 owner here, audio and camera are terrible, On top of it, a key broke (W key) after gaming for about a year. at year 3, a fan went crazy and started screaming li,ke hell, had to replace it. Even though I use my devices very carefully as they are kind of expensive, the build quality of the materials and peripherals are super bad for a premium laptop. Probably the worst laptop I have ever used.
I prefer the GS77 stealth. It's not as thin. But then again it's for gaming only for me and a lot off people are happy about it. So I ordered 1 for a little over 3400 euro because yeah installation cost.. Better to let the laptop be installed by the company if there's something wrong with it wheb it arrives, well they had in there hands so much easier to convince. I returned the HP omen with Intel 7 11th gen and an rtx 3080 16gb and 32gb ram. It overheated constantly and tried everything. Probably a faulty laptop from the factory because they saw the log files and saw I was talking the truth that the device crashed afther like 3-4 hours off gaming (and not even heavy games) so I decided to pay 1210 euro more to get the MSI GS77 stealth with an I9 and also an rtx3080. I was tempted for the Nvidia rtx3080TI but it's not worth it in this particular laptop.
I had one of these for a week, and it full on died after a week of problem. I just replaced it with something else but not my favorite first experience with MSI.

Potentially. Depends on whether Asus sends it or not.
Go figure.
Dang you must not be using a cooler like an idiot
they all do... don't get thin laptops with high specs
Which model do you have? I got a 11800h and 3080 Oled model sure fans it's on but it's barely even noticeable unless I'm encoding video. I heard you can to lower heat by undervolting it.
you people ask for thinner laptops instead of something practical , of course it's gonna over heat
@@danman1287 bruh where would i get a non thin rtx 3000 series laptop , every where i look it's this freakish design on all of them
Can you do a comparison between this and the zephyrus m16?
hey Jarrod, should Core isolation always be off til now? i tried enabling it, and the performance difference doesnt seem too large compared to it turned off. whatchu think???
Can please show results for fh5 I really like your videos but I need to know the results since you explain very well
Hey Jarrod, love your videos. I have MSI GS66 2020 (i7, RTX 2060) and am now looking to replace it with a 14" gaming laptop. Are you considering comparing some 14" this year?
Zephyrus g14 maybe?
@@but1913 I did consider g14, but it is all AMD and it does not support Thunderbolt just yet, so it does not provide as much future proof. At the end I got a good deal on and chose Triton 300 SE for £999 (£300 off).
@@MarcoCarolaful Hey Martin , Why are you replacing it tho.? Isn’t it working great?
My gs63 lasted 6 years. (Still runs great, games have just surpassed the 970m) Just purchased the GS66, I don't know if I could ever leave MSI
Could you open the laptop by the left or right cover's corner, not by it's center? Is it possible to bend the screen by opening in this manner?
The GPU wattage is subpar. 70 watts on a 3070ti sounds horrible. However, i think you might get better power draw in games when the CPU dials down a bit
Legion 7/7i review?
Still waiting on Lenovo with no ETA, they stopped replying to my emails.
Hey Jarrod, can you recommend some gaming mice for medium sized hands please
G703 is a great mouse
@@nomiguda I heard Logitech mouse's all had double click issues or some other annoying problems tho. Is this true?
Hey Jarrod, I am having a really hard time choosing between the hp omen 15(RTX 3070) and the asus zephyrus g15(RTX 3070), I understand that the g15 is the overall better device but my biggest concern with it is thermals and performance since it is a very compact machine. I plan on using the laptop for heavy gaming and programming.
well i would pick asus zephyrus. about the thermals it is good actually
Would you recommend running this at max overclock all time
If it's stable sure
@Jarrod's Tech. I would like to see Blade 15 vs GS66 comparison. Just out of curiosity though. I am not planning to buy any of them at the moment.
The older generations were compared and it’s likely similar here.
Blade is higher build quality, slower if spec’d the same (especially CPU side), way more expensive, but much quieter and a bit cooler.
Hi Jarrod ,
Can u please make comparison between HP Omen 3070 last year version VS Legion 5 3060 2022.
They both currently have the same price and I would like to know because I'm so confused right now 🙃
this whole line needs a refresh this shits like 4-5 years old now and its ran its paces
BY prices you can give compere with older model with performence mark
The bigest help from you to us will be if you make Legion Gen 7 7i vs Gen 6 vide ASAP :)
I still haven't received a 7i
As an owner of a GL65 Leopard, that hinge test made me gringe!
Hi Bro
Can you compare "Asus tuf f15 (2022)" vs "Asus tuf a15 (2022)" ?
If you do that it will be highly appreciate.
and most of the peoples what to see a direct comparison like you do?
You should do
Love MSI but their GS designs are a low point in between their GP/GE and GT series.
Any word on AMD Legion or HP Omen?
Not so far.
What's the difference between this and the stealth 15M?
i have the gs66 with the 11th gen i7 and it has 240hz ultra fast gaming display. It is awesome for games, prob the best thing about this laptop, other than the thunderbolt 4 port.
Any issues at all with overheating or whatever? Or do you use a cooling pad when plugged in?
@@ericdong5292 i turned the max output down and it never runs over 60 cel
@@itiswhatitis...9648 That is nutty... Do you think a cooling pad would even be beneficial for this laptop?
@@ericdong5292 i have one and it didn't lower it that much till I did that
@@itiswhatitis...9648 Thank you for your replies. I'm looking for a desktop replacement that will allow for some gaming capabilities and work. And I didn't even consider the Gs66 until now... But I might have to look at it closely.
Are the hinges any good or crap like in all other MSI's?
People shit on Alienware but at least the laptops don't fall apart from being opened lmao

Bro do a comparison video on acer aspire 5 (2022) with m1 macbook air 👍
İt's been out the longest but there are so few reviews on this machine.
I was surprised too, that's why I decided to make it.
gs66 owner here, audio and camera are terrible, On top of it, a key broke (W key) after gaming for about a year. at year 3, a fan went crazy and started screaming li,ke hell, had to replace it. Even though I use my devices very carefully as they are kind of expensive, the build quality of the materials and peripherals are super bad for a premium laptop. Probably the worst laptop I have ever used.
Bro the exact same fucking thing happened to me literally
And the replacement fan couldn’t keep up
where is Asus TUF on ur benchmarks?
Hello any gaming laptop recommendation that I can custom to have 32gb ram I need to use for school architecture and gaming
Still waiting for the legion slim 7i 👀
Same.
I got this laptop and it takes a few tries to turn on...lots of people have the same issue. What do you think could be the problem?
thin
How does a company "install a laptop when it arrives"?
Ergotauri is making a way better gaming laptop, in my opinion. Ergotauri is making new one-of-a-kind ergonomic gaming laptops.
Off topic by which should I get? $270 for a 6600 (non XT) or $400 3060 Ti.
Honest opinion, dlss is very worth it
Hello Jared. Did you like the wattage and noise ?
Just what I needed to know first, fingerprints on the plastic. Lol
From which angle is this Thin?
What's the battery life on this like?
Not that good
Why not spoiled in your thumbnail or title?
is small front panel still so fragile?
I had one of these for a week, and it full on died after a week of problem. I just replaced it with something else but not my favorite first experience with MSI.
Please if you are in possession of the ASUS strix g15 3070ti please review it
Is it me or does the interior of the Laptop look a bit old now? For example Asus laptops look alot better on the interior In my opinion , just seems like the design is a bit old fashioned now with the MSI laptop's
I think that MSI leans towards Acer currently.
Best picks are Asus and Lenovo
Hi Jarrod. the new Asus Flow X16 3070ti+miniled screen laptop just came on sale for 2700USD, could you please do a review on this beast when u get ur hand on it?

Hi sir, i have a question about laptop charger. I have a old dell laptop that uses 7.4mm*5 pin/65w-130w. But the charger recently give up. So my plan is, since i have another dell laptop but the chargers pin is 4.5mm(65w) i will just buy a (DC Power Adapter Connector Plug DC conversion head jack female 4.5*3.0mm plug to male 7.4*5.0 mm), will this work? Down side also, that pin adaptor are for HP Pavilion since i can't find any. Have you tried this?
