- Now that we've got the Datsun 280zx road legal, it's time to do the fun stuff! We make & install custom coilovers, flares & wheel spacers in an attempt to build the ultimate 280zx. Who says this model is the ugly duckling?! Enjoy.
FYI, I will be getting the welds on the coilovers tripple checked by a fabricator friend to make sure they're safe! No need to worry 😝 ❤️

Forged pistons with m50 rods ull be good for 600

lol, what did i just watch always liked ur content until i saw this u got a cheap welder and ur relying on it for the suspension of your car?! why not get a professional to do the job. this can kill people and the spacers are crazy why would you bother getting new wheels if they dont fit to how u want? spacers are deadly and illegal for a reason im not expert but your ruining a classic 😾

Thanks for the comment man. I know my limits in terms of skill with a welder and I’m more than happy with the welds. In saying that, I’ll be getting Damon (fabricator friend) to look over them to triple check. As for the spacers, these are a very high quality unit. Plenty of people run them on their daily’s. If I didn’t think they were safe, I wouldn’t run them. I appreciate the feedback all the same 😁

Where did you get those flares from? I'm trying to find for my ZX but all the ones I could find have a arch that's too wide.

Hey Mike, nice work mate. Don't want to be a nay sayer and all the rest of it, but I'm fairly certain both that coil over and hub/stub were cast and required to be pre heated before welding. If it is cast you will certainly get cracks/worse at the welds. I wasn't too sure about slotting the chassis for you adjustments either, but anyway. Cars looking killer man, see ya on the next one!
Hey James, thanks for the advice bro! Yes I think you're right about the cast needing pre heat. I think i'm going to get Damon to make me a new set of fronts with some nice new coilovers. This car does deserve the nice stuff! The slotting of the subframe worked well, it's not ideal but unfortunately there's not many options out there for this chassis.

@@itsmikelake and that's why all their vehicles get detects and can't afford to pay the fines or get the right tyres rims , no one i know uses stupid ass spacers that is for tightass non car people do , real at a real street car no spacers just the right rims and a price tag to go with it

Hey man loved the video! Car looks awesome. I had a question, I don't know if you have had to change or replace the weather stripping but if you did. Do you know where I can get any? Mainly for the door, rear hatch and t-tops. That's my biggest issue with my 280zx right now

@@bigb3281 I feel you dude. The GKtech spacers are the only one's i'd trust for the road. In saying that, i'm getting some big boy wheels made for this thing. These are only temporary 😝

this is not good,spacers and backyard coilovers and kiwi engineering,for on the road, laws are for a reason
Rick plenty of people run spacers. And these coilovers are as good as any. Plenty of heat and penetration in the welds in the front coilovers. FYI, this is the only way to build zx coilovers unless you do an s13 front end conversion. 👌🏻

Each to their own my friend! That's the beauty of building cars. FYI, this Datsun was sitting rusting away for the past 10 years next to an old fellas garage. I saved it and gave it a new lease on life :D.
