I grew up in that f150 . My dad had a white f250 single cab blue interior same engine and beefy tires with polished aluminum rims you know the ones with all the holes in it from 80's 90's , i remember he was changing out the coolant one day in the parking lot of our los Angeles apartment and watching some bright green coolant running down from his parking spot asking whats that for "its blood"?. My favorite was all of us sitting 9n the bench seat together,Good ol ford . He sold it running to a construction worker.
In 1990 my neighbor ordered that exact F-150 except his was a 4x4, and I ordered an F-350 4x4 XLT that was loaded. I got the 460 with the C-6 automatic. It was nice because the F-350 still had the old style solid front axle and big hubs.
I had the exact 328 years ago… in light blue. That one is the luxury line with those wheels, mine was the same. Great car, but they do just sound like a diesel, totally normal. Notorious for timing issues on this generation of the 4cyl, but never personally had a problem!

(I Installed and serviced Sunroofs for almost 15yrs. The number or burnt vehicles we saw from dealerships would frighten you).

As someone with 2 Mitsubishi’s. I want a Raider. But everyone I see for sale has close to 200k miles and is beat up and rusted (Wisconsin). People don’t sell them because they’re good trucks. They drive em til they die. (Or can afford a really nice truck). But it’s rare to find one with 80k.

Super easy to drive. My veterinarian has a new pick up truck with the same vintage two tone color scheme as that sweet old classic f-150. If MWM doesn't grab her first, snag it❗
The Mitsubishi Raider is the same as a Dodge Dakota. The Raider nameplate was taken from the original Dodge Raider from the Mitsubishi Montero SUV from 1987-1990
Just had mine done pre-emptively... she's on 190 000km now (118060 miles). The N-series engine (2012 to about 2016) are that loud. Combination of chain noise and direct injection. The 2016+ models switched to the B48 motor, which is even more bulletproof.
The Mitsubishi Raider was a rebadged Dodge Dakota. Pretty uncommon. An even rarer find would be a Suzuki Equator which was a clone of the Nissan Frontier pickup….
The Subaru fire could have been someone smoking. I have owned Subarus for decades and would have no concerns with buying another one (except for the one they have that is an EV.)
Man I love how consistent you are with uploads! It takes a lot of work to keep up like you do, I recognize that. That’s one of the reasons I watch you 😁
You were talking about Ford Rangers having head gasket problems. I know that first hand. I bought a used one with high mileage about 170k, I was talked into it by my mother who thought I could use it to haul mulch and stuff for her, about a decade ago. Within the first year of owning that truck the head gasket went out on it. I like the truck and hated to sell it but I have my doubts I would get another one with high mileage ever again. That Geo reminds me of the first car I ever owned a little Ford Festiva. I owned it about 4 years, my paternal grandmother bought it for me used. I was in an accident, another driver came across the center lane and side swiped me caving in the driver's side fender. People who saw the damage were like it was a miracle I came out of the with only a broken arm.
Get the Raider! I'm sure it's rare to find 1, especially as a V8. Did you know that Dodge made a Raider back in the 80s as a re-badged Mitsubishi Montero? It's a compact, 2 door, 4x4 off-roader. I think back in the 70s or 80s, Dodge and Mitsubishi collaborated so that Mitsubishi can sell its cars in the U.S. As a result of this collaboration, there are rebadged version of many vehicles (3000GT and Stealth; Lambda and Challenger; Raider and Montero; Raider and Dakota). It seems over the past decade, they aren't making vehicles together. The F-150 looks nice to bring to the channel. It's not bad in shape at all.
The N20 4 cylinders in those BMWs all kind of just sound like that, the big thing to be cautious of with them is premature timing chain failure due to the plastic guides breaking over time.

I have a 2015 BMW 328, no timing chain noise but I have used 0w30 or 0w40 every 6-7000 miles, max. In 2013 IIRC BMW was calling for 15,000 mile oil changes, way too long. And then in 2016 they started recommending 0w20 as backwards compatible, which those two issues combined lead to timing chain and guide problems. I'll wager it was dealer maintained its whole life, which has led to the engine issues (0w20, way too infrequently).
