I just retired driving mixer for 38 years with the same outfit and I loved curb and gutter machines easy money, I don't know if you poured underground pipeline in the old days we would hang only 1 shut and you had to keep the top and bottom boat full at a 2" max slump . Don't miss the night pours are 12 hour days but I did make a pretty darn good pension from the teamsters!
@@fuzzybutkus8970 obviously it was an auto correct error. I don't understand people like you I mean you must have nothing going on with yourself to take the time to read someone's whole comment and knit pick small things that don't matter. This job is not so easy, I have seen so many people get fired for making mistakes for not paying attention or whatever so anyone that can stay working that long gets my respect but I guess for you he needs to win a spelling Bee 🐝 😂.
How did it go ? I just started 2 weeks ago - and the slump at plant not a problem it’s when you get to the job when they want to add - I still don’t know - I’m a little nervous- not sure if you have any videos explaining slump on meter
@ELKOBRA03 1 gallon of water added for each yard of concrete increases the slump 1". For example, if you have 10 yards of concrete sitting at a 4" and you need to to be a 6", add 20 gallons of water. When in doubt, discharge a little bit onto the chute and ask the crew pouring how much water they'd like you to add. Hope this helps
I drive a front discharge in MA, best job I've ever had. Got my CDL this past August and got the job in September. I'm still learning but man do I hate doing curbs lol. Never saw this machine, I just have to pour into the curb while backing up.
Thanks for sharing your day it's really fun looking at it from the Go pro view, I drive a mixer myself in California and I feel you it's not easy having that mud drying. Shotcrete is another pain in the butt. LOL
Thanks for the 411 I start in a mixer truck tomorrow after 16yrs TNT and super solo paving on west side. Whole new ball of wax to learn. Kinda know what to expect after watching your vids, I owe you a 1/2 rack👍
Awesome vids. Kinda cool to see another drivers day. Just FYI it's illegal to ever have BOTH ears with ear devices, also unsafe as you can't hear permits with your truck or sirens. Your doing and amazing job and thank you very much for your service! Love watching your content.
Just found this channel, its old and i hope your still running mixers, im located on the 904 between Cheney and Tyler small world, i run for Action Stone plus have a 379EH straight with a pull grain truck i haul grain into PNW and Spokane Seed hope you continue with videos soon really enjoyed these.
Looks like this is a year old. I'm enjoying your videos. A day in the life. If you get messages I was wondering if YOU get your own truck? Or the same truck each day ? Good job . Thanks
Hey buddy, big fan. I have a couple of questions: Is math involved in your daily operation, and if it is, Do I need to brush up on my algebra or geometry? It's been a while since I have worked on those. Lol, I'm going to CDL school in February 2024. Thank you so much for introducing your videos; it has helped me see the reality of the industry. Big Fan. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Most the time I run about 4 to 5 loads a day but it can be more or sometimes less. I've been at 3 yard job for like 4 hours so it all depends on how fast the contractors are.
Between load time, drive time, pour time, and wash time you average about 2 hours per load. So 4-6 is a steady typical day. I've seen people claim they do at least 10 deliveries per day and they are so full of it.
Actually it does sound different but there is a gauge that you look at that tells you what "slump" you are at. My company we also have a digital meter tells you were you are at too, easy
Best way is to check your slump gauge. When you hear the rocks clanging against the drum, your mix is dry. When the clanging turns into a swishing noise you're at a 5+
I hate going to other trucks to, especially when it’s a pile of crap but sometimes it’s nice when the truck is nice, but that doesn’t happen very often. Do you get to go to a nicer truck when your truck broke down all the nice trucks already taken
I like the videos you make of real time the day. Only thing need to get like a gyro stabilizer because I’m guessing you have Go-pro mount on head and shakes a lot. Get nauseous watching
Oh man,Why are they still using rear discharge mixers. We cut a half out of reg. Chute and move hangers and make curb machine chutes and send front discharge with a 1 or 1.5 inch slump. We pour all day on deep sand and other unprepared surfaces.Concete labor must be cheap there. At least you wash your fins and stuff down. U.S. concrete sent us to D.C. to help out.they never wash down on job sites. They have a little flap that’s supposed to stop chute from dripping and race back to plant wash down. I couldn’t get 10 yards in the truck without it splashing out. It needed to be chipped so bad. I guess that company is no longer in D.C. it was embarassing.

Nice you pour behind gomacos
I run a 3600 comaco they make life easy. Once in awhile we get inconsistent mud and gotta jerk out the mule and assholes and the elbows it is.
I feel your pain we started on a 6000 foot curb with the curb machine on a Saturday morning at 2.am on the job that was along fun day!
bummer :(
hope ur truck is automatic

Hate it when you climb to the top to realize the hoppers up,lol
As a ready mix driver, I hate doing curb jobs. We tailgate all of them. Always with forms.
I am in my mixer right now waiting to be loaded
I wanna work as a cement driver, I worked for Metro MTA transportation & waste management. studying for my Tanker endorsement.
I been doing it for a month and I love it. Easy 100k a year
U don't need tank endorsement for this job. All u need is class B license with air brakes endorsement
@@vaekkriinhart4347 I’m in California and you do need a tanker or they want hire you
@@slickslimyfilm hey, I was told that its very hard to come to a complete stop while loaded and unloaded any truth to that?
😊😊😊
Very Good
Do you have a video of doing a pre trip and post trip inspection?
Not really. Kinda long and boring. The pretrip for your CDL test is WAY different than what you'll do for real... Maybe I'll do that soon.
Hey bud thinking of doing this ,Like your videos.
DO IT! I started in July, and it's the easiest job I've ever had.. Once u get the hang of it, it's easy.. not a physical job at all. It's all mental..
I’m doing this Monday it’s my first Day I can kinda of say I’m excited to start

Poring stiff mud for curbs is NOGOOD for any part of that operation ,,,,,,concrete get hot & dry sticks on the drums blades ,,,,,,,etc etc,,😊😊

Are you working as a driver?
Easy money
On average how many loads do mixer drivers run per day
Most the time I run about 4 to 5 loads a day but it can be more or sometimes less. I've been at 3 yard job for like 4 hours so it all depends on how fast the contractors are.

how can you tell if its too much water, by the sound?

PBL by the load
Y’all should get a load and go it makes it much faster leaving the yard

what slump for curb machine?
Yup, they order a 2
@@grabbinggears109 they order a 2", but once u get there, theyll add water and get it closer to a 3
lot of axels for only 10 yards
How much weight can each axle carry?
I looked it up... 20K max per axle. Good question dude, I never thought about it hahaha
