Would I take a trip like this only using public transit? You bet! I love letting someone else drive/pilot, etc while I enjoy the views!! Looks like you both had a great time! Definite add to my long bucket list!!
Yeah there are positives but those stoppage time limit during bus trips are unfair. With so much beauty to take in you need plenty more time & thats we drove toyota yarris hybrid. Its took on the terrain quite well and cause of tiny size curvy roads wont any problems
@@johnsingh5943 For sure, being in full control of your trip is great. Some roads are better for doing the driving yourself (Highway 1 in California). This trip in Norway....maybe like you said, it's easier in a small car. Guess I'll have to try both. Haha.
Heija Norge!!! 🇳🇴🇳🇴🇳🇴 I married a Norwegian and she was laughing at you trying to pronounce Geirangerfjord! But if it makes you feel better, she laughs at me anytime I try to pronounce anything. 😆😆 Such beauty and you captured it well!
As a retired air line employee. I enjoy all your travel vlogs. But now that you have included rail, bus, and boat. I'm enjoying them all. There lots of places I haven't been to. Norway is one. Thank you Jeb, I really enjoyed this.
What an amazing travel vlog. The videography is top-notch. I rarely watch travel vlogs but your videos are so much fun plus you have such an amiable personality. The roughly 18 minutes video just felt like a 5-min one. Keep up the amazing work!
My father was born in Oslo. I have always wanted to go to Norway but…. Thank you for this. You do an excellent job in narrating and giving us the tour. Thank you. 😊
Western Norway is very beatiful, i am swedish retired touristbusdriver and have made several tours in westNorway, with different touristgroups. Even to and from Geiranger and Trollstigen.
you have just given me an idea for short trip in the summer of 2023. i will save the description of this video! (London based, so Norway is not that far!)
Great video, as always 😀. If you want a little bit better train experience, chanche train in Dombaas to the Trondheim-Oslo train. This is a long distance train, and a little bit better than the intercity-train from Lillehammer 😉. Thank you for visiting my homecountry Norway and being so enthusiastic 😁
Nice summary of a part of the country that I have yet to visit. My father loves driving Trollstigen on his motorcycle! 😎 About bus on ferry: I used to drive a bus service from Bodø to Sortland. The trip lasts for almost 7 hours and includes a 1 hour ferry ride from Bognes to Lødingen. And another fun fact: the only way to get further north in Norway from Bognes is by ferry, unless you drive through Sweden. Feel free to visit us in North next time you come to Norway! I promise you there’s more to see!
Definitely preferable to let the expert drive on that road trip !!! This was a very nioce video- thankyou, very enjoyable & nicely produced. I am now 82, given up traveling, and this was a treat !
Public transport is sometimes the simplest way to go. Trains or buses are sometimes the only way to get to places that are well worth a visit when you you don't have the $$$ to hire a private car or rental or just want to enjoy the simple pleasure of the journey. We've done this to visit Hallstatt, Austria, to take one of the scenic trains in Switzerland on our way to the Lauterbrunnen Valley, to visit Neuschwanstein (and other castles) in Bavaria, etc. My wife and I are more than happy to use public transport when it makes perfect sense to do so. This trip and the modes you took will be added to our list. Happy to recommend some places for you and Suzanne to visit - things that have brought my wife and I immense joy. Kudos once again for a brilliant narrated trip report..
Thank you for the very nice video! Mid June we start our Norway road trip and the bus looks very nice for myself. But not for my wife, in the first corner she need definitely a plastic bag. So we take our own car and make stops when needed. Greetings from The Netherlands 🇳🇱
I love it that you guys enjoy public transportation so much. In a rent a car world, this is refreshing. I also recommend trying the train from Rome/Naples to either Catania or Palermo. They place the whole train onto the ferry
It’s fun to hear how the people in the back experience the drive up Ørnesvingene and Trollstigen. I’ve only been up front driving the thing. As a bus driver, that has been driving there a few times, I’m usually more exhausted driving from Gerinanger in the other direction (if you would continue onwards past the hotel) just because of the sheer amount of turns and traffic there. If you look at 05:02, in the video, one of the trips we do we usually start at the bottom and all the 1500m (roughly 4900ft) up towards the peak, and then back down again. It’s always a treat visiting Geiranger, especially if the weather holds up. But this summer have been especially cold and wet so you got lucky with the weather there all things considered.
Fantastic scenery…… if you are looking for train/bus/boat (and the odd dodgy, precarious road) alternatives look no further then Queenstown NZ. Boat includes Milford Sound, sail Lake Wakatipu or jetboat/raft down Shotover River, bus up to Cornet Peak, to Milford Sound and for precarious roads try Skippers Canyon, train includes Taeiri Gorge railway or Tranz Alpine/Glacier Express. Other forms of transport incl Skyline(southern hemisphere’s steepest cable car) and the flight in/out are spectacular. Only problem ? For me in Manchester, UK you could barely be further away ! 😩
Nice product placement by Suzanne for Rick Steves - I have the same shirt (actually 2). Great video and narration - very informative. You can also see why Rick Steve's always promotes packing light, "because you will end up walking at some point" when you tour Europe. He also states that the wheely bags are great until you have to walk up stairs or in your case, a steep hill - you both did great. Thanks again.
Love this part of Norway. I've gone down Trollstigen a couple of times, not a problem with a car. It may well be the most famous one but there are others who are a little more... intimidating 😨
Thanks for another great great video. When visiting in Europe there is a wide variety of transportation options and often, using the public system is the smart choice. It may not seem cheap, but renting a car and putting fuel in it and paying toll roads and then finding parking can all be more expensive and more hassle. When we visited Spain in May we used planes, taxis, train, subways, busses, and an automobile. Out of 3 weeks we had the car for only 4 days where it made sense for day trips that were not readily accessible by other forms of transportation. Those roads look like an epic drive in a descent car (I would not want to be in control of a large vehicle though). We had to drive through the old part of Granada and parking garages that barely fit a compacts SUV (new Mokka), I had only inches to spare with insanely tight turns going down 4 levels). This video can be super helpful to those US or Canadian travelers that have never experienced well connected public transportation in Europe.
Dear Suzanne, dear Jeb, once more a hit ! I really love your style of "youtubing", with a bit American touch, always a joy to watch. This one is very particular to me as we are currently heading to Norway on an Interrail trip. Very inspiring. Thanks for sharing!
5:44 Google maps estimated walking time does not include sitting on a bench! That Trollstigen Road has been used in several car commercials. Solid, flowing, enjoyable video as usual, JB. Peace.
Ahhhhhhh! This is amazing!!!! Thank you for all the links to everything! I am pleased to see you traveling with your lady. What a great addition to your videos. You look happier! I would like to do both: driving the troll road and paying for public transit. What views!!! Nice Rick Steves' shirt!
Thanks to you two my bucket list just got longer. As a retired employee of your favorite airline, I’m always ready to go somewhere new! Love watching your videos, so keep up the good work!
Wow! This is my favorite video of yours, Jeb and Suzanne, and I've watched plenty. Norway is stunning, but I don't think I'd have the nerve to travel down the Trollstigen, even by bus. Thanks for the beautiful footage and for allowing me to be an armchair traveler. Your videos are so good: organized, informative, well edited, fun, and upbeat.
Well these “serpentine route” remember me at Chile border (Paso Libertadores, Cristo Redentor Tunnel), at Chile border side you have a serpentine route from 3.600 to 2.200 meters over the sea. Also, at northen Argentina, at Salta province, you have the “Cuesta del Obispo”
The road downwards has reminded me of the Tremola in Switzerland. Thank you very much, Suzanne and Jeb, for sharing your wonderful documentary with us.
You are truly a blessed man! I would love to take that trip one day, I pray my wife and I have both the time and resources to make that happen! "Se you....on the bus, boat, rails and skies!"
I Really enjoyed your video to Norway. My grandparents mygrated to the US from Little hammer and Oslo over a hundred years ago.around 1880.T he places you visited look so ultramodern, and scenic! T he terrain looks alot like our rocky mountain areas.'PROUD TO BE A nORWEGAN!" Driving those roads when it gets icy, you become very religious! "Fast!'"
Bus on a ferry -- I've done that -- between Sweden and Denmark. A lot to be said for Scandinavian efficiency and EXCELLENT coffee! And, what beautiful scenery! I enjoy your videos; keep up the great work!
I drove the Eagle Road and Trolligsten a few years ago. Your video brought back memories of that enjoyable trip when I had to concentrate on the road rather than the views. I do agree that the fjord are better appreciated from above rather than sea level.
We've been to Norway and agree that the scenery is outstanding - and I'm from New Zealand! Like other commenters we/re using public transport more often, letting others drive whilst we enjoy the scenery. The video and commentary is fabulous, keep it up Jeb! Lookin forward to seeing you in the sky. And land and water, over waterfalls and everywhere else on this wonderful planet of ours!
Great video Jeb and Susan. I must have enjoyed the trip. Would love to see more footage of the towns you stayed overnight as well as the local cuisine.
Awesome. Thanks for sharing the video and taking an effort for us. defnitely worth travelling the route you showed us. keep recording and keep sending. I saved it to my bucketlist
I rented and drove a car for transferring between these places as solo traveler in September 2022. But after watching this video, I realized your itinerary using different modes of public transportation are more interesting and stress free. I wouldn’t rent a car if I watched this video prior to my trip. Thank you for this useful video
There is no way I would drive that road. Kudos to the bus driver. I was in Quebec, Canada on a bus vacation & we stayed on an island in the St. Lawrence River. This meant many trips by ferry on the bus to the mainland. Two modes of transport at the same time.
Jeb and Suzzane . As always, a video par excellence. It almost made the viewer think we are with you on this journey. Truly the mark of an amazing story teller.
Great report, brings back some great memories from half a lifetime ago. Alesund, Geiranger, an overnight in Stranda, Andalsnes, Eidsdal, Lillehammer (for about eight nights)...pretty sure I got to them all. Not to mention a bus up (or was it down?) Trollstigen. Breathtaking stuff and I hope to get back one day. Oh, and I definitely did not drive.
Really great trip showcasing all the modes of transportation needed to get across Norway!! The scenery was awesome! It's been great seeing Suzanne on some of your trips....... she is a definite plus and you two compliment each other nicely! Love your videos........ keep them coming!😉😉
Jeb, one of your best videos so far! 😃I love these kinds of videos! The scenery is breathtaking! If I must pick between your airline videos and these, these will win hands down!
WOW! WOW! WOW! I love this itinerary! It will be part of my itinerary when we go to Norway. STUNNING! Curious to know how often the buses do their periodic stops for bathroom breaks?
HI JEB AND SUZANNE, WOW!! WHAT A BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY!! ( maybe makes up for some pretty harsh winters?? ) I WAS SURPRISED AT THE END, WHEN YOU SHOWED A COUPLE OF BIG, FLAT FARMS AFTER ALL THOSE FJORDS, AND UP/ DOWN MOUNTAINS AND HILLS, AND THE NAUSEA INDUCING, HAIRPIN TURN ZIG-ZAG ROADS!! I WAS WONDERING WHEN THE BUS PULLED OVER FOR THE SCENIC. VIEWING, AND ALL THE WATER FLOWING DOWN THE SIDES OF THE MOUNTAINS, IF THAT WATER WAS SO PRISTINE AND CLEAN THAT YOU COULDDA FILLED UP YOUR WATER BOTTLE FROM IT?? ALSO, I VERY MUCH MISSED YOU CRITIQUING OF THE FOOD YOU ATE WHERE YOU STAYED OVERNIGHT; ( since I'm a big guy and a foodie, that's usually my favorite part of your vids!! ) GET ANY LINGENBERRY SAUCE?? WELL, A NICE TRIP, BUT I BET YOU BOTH WISHED YOU HAD MORE TIME TO SEE THE REST OF THE COUNTRY!! THANKS JEB+SUZANNE!! CHAS ORVIS, PLAINVILLE, CT.BUT
Damn!! Jeb, you beat us that you already finished and published your geiranger-trollstigen scenic route video while we just released our part 1 of this route. We admired Suzanne and you that you took all the public transportation for this trip. We would like to do the same way but we could not due to our tight schedule. Instead, we traveled in the opposite direction that we flew from Oslo to Molde and rented a car from there. While you 2 took the bus descending from the top of the Trollstigen rest area, we drove from the bottom to the top. With your video, we have a comprehensive view of this route from two different directions. Once again, great video and great job!! We look forward seeing more of your travel videos in the future!!
Yea! Another video with Suzanne 👍🏽. I'd be so afraid on the bus on that road😬. I'm laughing because you -Jeb- are really roughing it with these modes of transportation 😅
I enjoyed your video. We've driven the Oslo-Alesund route many times (and taken the train) when we lived in Oslo. Norway truly is a spectacularly beautiful country. We will be in Alesund soon, first time since the pandemic, and we're looking forward to it. Thanks for this video and I've enjoyed many of your travel blogs.
In the 70Th I took a trip by train from Oslo to Alesund over Dombas, changes there for a train down to Alesund then change to bus for Andalsnes, back to Dombas, change train for Trondheim. Wonderful trip.
Norway is my Happy Place & I’m so glad to watch your visit! I took an RIB tour of Geirangerfjord in 2019 & it was wonderful-as was the “hairpin turn” ride. Thanks for taking me back!
I just adore the two of you. Yours are easily my favorite travel videos....very personable and nice to listen to. You both obviously enjoy the experiences of travel.
Ooooh Alesund!!!! Alesund is the twin city of Borgo a Mozzano, Lucca, Italy. On may first (labor day in all Europe, Asia, Africa & latin America), at Anchiano, county of Borgo a Mozzano, is the celebration of the norway Cod and the people of Alesund come (yes, I wrote “come”, because Borgo a Mozzano is my second home in the world, my ancestors came from this town)
That is one of your best videos and I’ve seen them all. You guys complement each other so well and make a great team I’d like to see you guys do a video on say a Norway Cruise two to three days on one of their small cruise ship
This was so enjoyable to watch. My Ancestors came from Norway. I have distant relatives that live there, Norwegians LOVE Pizza!!! I have several Face Books Friends that live in Norway, I have a few friends that live close to where my 2x Grand Parents lived. I have seen pictures of that Road you went down. Was nice to see your reaction, That was an amazing bus driver, When I went on an Escorted tour of Europe we had an amazing bus driver.
I love the new map design that you’re using in this video. It’s a lot more smoother than you’re other ones and has more of a personal touch to you! Overall a great video and can’t wait to see more. Keep up the great work! 👏😁

Thanks 😊we are weary lucky

This video are so well put together. Just wanted to comment and simple say thanks for all you do.
It's great to see that people are travelling again
This honestly may be my new favorite video on your channel, it’s just so well done! Also, the map with floating Jeb head was hilarious!
Thanks! That’s such a nice thing to say!
@@GreenerGrass of course, love your content!
Everything in Norway looks so clean!
You have absolutely nailed the videography. Well done. All high quality and interesting content .... Many thanks
Thank you for sharing such a wonderful way to see some of the beautiful scenery in Norway.
That is one of your best videos and I’ve seen them all. You guys complement each other so well and make a great team I’d like to see you guys do a video on say a Norway Cruise two to three days on one of their small cruise ship
....which cruise ships are you talking about..... ???
