You are THE BEST! Thank you!! ... and this REALLY WORKS!! We moved last December & I took cuttings of my favorite roses, butterfly bushes, etc, as we left ~ I stuck them in the ground, when we arrived at our new home and they thrived ~ Now I have all my old favorites with me & didn't have to leave them behind!
So there’s this huge science around gardening! Some of course is necessary but much of it happens naturally anyway it seems. Again John simplifies the ‘difficult’ things and means we can all have a go! Fab! I think your cameraman rather enjoyed this one John! And it wasn’t raining either!
This video is gold John! No messing about, very helpful🙂
Awesome thank you I have grown Holly from cutting they actually take quite nicely.
I love the way you make gardening accessible to us mere mortals. More Monty John than Monty Don.
Always worth trying to increase our garden shrubs, I’ve won and have lost as well trying, but that part of the fun in gardening. Thanks for sharing John, always a delight watching your videos. 👍❤️😊
My favorite professor, so encouraging!
Another great video John. Love your no nonsense approach! Any chance you could do an equally straightforward video on how to take softwood cuttings?
Yes please
God this guys not a yoing man but has the energy of a teenager wow wish i had that energy @hilshils3426
Absolutely love this! Thanks!
Thank you John and David, i always feel like going out the garden after watching your videos but it's raining, blowing a gale and 7.50pm so I'll try these tomorrow. love your humour 🏴
😂john thanks for your sound down to earth garden advice. Going to get Harwood cuttings from my garden now! Happy Xmas!
Just brilliant John, thanks for lesson it was so much fun following you in the garden. I'm going to try taking some cuttings from the dogwoods now.

every cuttings in a prayer and every root is a blessing
Thank you!
I love taking any cuttings. (Plant theif here and not at ashamed).
It's the way to have repeat planting and saves on the moolah too.
Ppp
Will you give us a follow up on the ones you plonked in the ground?
The Secret Garden looks good even in midwinter. I’m going to try some hardwood cuttings from my garden this weekend.
My very favourite secret garden and its master and the cameraman
🎉
If everyone does this the garden centres would all close Johnny
🙂 love it thx John going to try it
Yes, I'm going out there now too!
😃😃😃
That's how I do it. I have planted jollies as well the same way and they root. They grow slow tho and you need softer cutting for that.
Is it ok to pot cuttings until spring or summer until new position is ready.still cleaning after recent flooding won't be cleared until spring were stream burst banks thinking dogwood willow and alder might help retain banks of stream any recomendations much appreciated thanks
I’d like to increase the amount of pyracantha on our property and try to build a hedge. But I’d rather grow from cuttings if possible because the plants are pricey and this year I couldn’t find them in garden centers. (In the past I bought them during end-of-season sales.) Any tips?
Brilliant
I wonder if it would work for hardy hibiscus? Worth a shot to just stick it in the ground. Lol
Should have called the video “Right into the ground!”
🙂❤💚🙏👍👍
