I think Invisible Touch was the group's undisputed masterpiece. It's an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums. Listen to the brilliant ensemble playing of Banks, Collins and Rutherford. You can practically hear every nuance of every instrument. In terms of lyrical craftsmanship, the sheer songwriting, this album hits a new peak of professionalism.

Definitely wrong. The Pollard Syndrum (infamously used on a lot of disco records) came out in 1976 while the legendary Simmons SDS-V kit came out in 1981 and was used by a TON of drummers (including Phil himself) prior to 'Invisible Touch'.
I made a reference to this song once to my high school history class. None of my students had ever heard of it. I told them it was by Genesis. Blank looks. I ran down the names of a number of other Genesis songs, and when I got to "Talking With Jesus," one of the girls asked "Oh, are they one of those Christian rock groups." I gave up, told them "never mind" and went on with the class. The next day I came in, and half of them immediately started singing "She seems to have an Invisible touch-ah!" They looked it up on line, and loved it, and were raving to me what a great song it was. That was my first real "old person" moment (In my early 30s).
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 What were you talking about, in terms of this song? And maybe they were too young to know about Genesis. I wonder if any of the students knew who Phil Collins was.
Lyrics to this legendary Genesis track: 👑 Well I've been waiting, waiting here so long But thinking nothing, nothing could go wrong, ooh now I know She has a built in ability To take everything she sees And now it seems I'm falling, falling for her She seems to have an invisible touch, yeah She reaches in, and grabs right hold of your heart She seems to have an invisible touch, yeah It takes control and slowly tears you apart Well I don't really know her, I only know her name But she crawls under your skin You're never quite the same, and now I know She's got something you just can't trust And it's something mysterious And now it seems I'm falling, falling for her She seems to have an invisible touch, yeah She reaches in, and grabs right hold of your heart She seems to have an invisible touch, yeah It takes control and slowly tears you apart She seems to have an invisible touch, yeah She reaches in, and grabs right hold of your heart She seems to have an invisible touch, yeah It takes control and slowly tears you apart Well she don't like losing, to her it's still a game And though she will mess up your life You'll want her just the same, and now I know She has a built in ability To take everything she sees And now it seems I've fallen, fallen for her She seems to have an invisible touch, yeah She reaches in, and grabs right hold of your heart She seems to have an invisible touch, yeah It takes control and slowly tears you apart She seems to have an invisible touch, yeah She seems to have an invisible touch, oh She seems to have an invisible touch, yeah She seems to have an invisible touch, oh She seems to have an invisible touch, yeah She seems to have an invisible touch, oh She seems to have an invisible touch, yeah She seems to have an invisible touch, oh
I loved when they sang this live and Phil would say though she will fuck up your life instead of the original words though she will mess up your life,so cool and remember hearing it for the first time I looked over at my friends and we just smiled and went back on singing
Invisible Touch, Literally Genesis' masterpiece and one of their most successful tracks and iconic albums. Espically in the new Genesis era. Has to be one of my favourites from Genesis and not a single Genesis fan or rock fan can say they haven't heard or liked any of these tracks on the album, or this legendary hit. They'll never be anything like Genesis, and this album helps prove it. A hit that unveils many memories for some, like myself, and joy. Legends 💙👑
same here. this was always in the CD player and if it wasn't I requested it. Directly influenced my taste for electronic sounds and now I have music out on labels. Thank you mum
The combination of a driving, easy going drums, the iconic voice of Phil, the awesome keyboardwork of Tony and the clean guitar sound of Mike, just an amazing song, I like to hear in summer, driving in my car.
If someone from the management reads comments, please consider releasing a video concert from this Invisible Touch tour - from its American part from September and October 1986. It was almost the top of Genesis - especially concerts from Toronto or Detroit. Then Domino, Mama, Tonight, Tonight, Tonight, Invisible Touch, Throwing It All Away, Abacab, Drum Duet and finally In The Cage Medley with the last Supper Ready part sounded great. : :) It will be a real show where we will all be watching this video by many many people.. : :) Please think about it.
Currently laying here with a kitten bundled in my arms, playing music and relaxing before the impending doom of my final year at university begins in a week's time. Always had a soft spot for this song and both forms of Genesis in general

The first song I ever heard from phil collins was Another Day in Paradise. That will always be my favorite song of his because of the lyrics and what it meant.

I've been a big Genesis fan ever since the release of their 1980 album, Duke. Before that, I really didn't understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual. It was on Duke where, uh, Phil Collins' presence became more apparent. I think Invisible Touch was the group's undisputed masterpiece. It's an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums. Christy, take off your robe. Listen to the brilliant ensemble playing of Banks, Collins and Rutherford. You can practically hear every nuance of every instrument. Sabrina, remove your dress. In terms of lyrical craftsmanship, the sheer songwriting, this album hits a new peak of professionalism. Sabrina, why don't you, uh, dance a little. Take the lyrics to Land of Confusion. In this song, Phil Collins addresses the problems of abusive political authority. In Too Deep is the most moving pop song of the 1980s, about monogamy and commitment. The song is extremely uplifting. Their lyrics are as positive and affirmative as, uh, anything I've heard in rock. Christy, get down on your knees so Sabrina can see your ass. Phil Collins' solo career seems to be more commercial and therefore more satisfying, in a narrower way. Especially songs like In the Air Tonight and, uh, Against All Odds. Sabrina, don't just stare at it, eat it. But I also think Phil Collins works best within the confines of the group, than as a solo artist, and I stress the word artist. This is Sussudio, a great, great song, a personal favorite.

This is not a favorite Genesis song of mine (or album really), but it is a catchy tune, and it is one of Mike's best bass lines. I do like Phil's vocal outro quite a lot as well. And it was always good to hear Genesis on the radio all the time back in the day.

This is the 1st album to have electronic drums on an album. Genesis were way ahead of their time. Phil Collin’s is a genius he is a true artist and a legend.
You mean electronic drums, as in electronic drum kits, because there were a lot of albums before this with electronic drums, including his own albums.
I'm pressing X to doubt
Foi o último disco dele no Gênesis?
That's not true at all 😂 even the Genesis album before this was full of electronic drums
Definitely wrong. The Pollard Syndrum (infamously used on a lot of disco records) came out in 1976 while the legendary Simmons SDS-V kit came out in 1981 and was used by a TON of drummers (including Phil himself) prior to 'Invisible Touch'.

Lyrics to this legendary Genesis track: 👑
Well I've been waiting, waiting here so long
But thinking nothing, nothing could go wrong, ooh now I know
She has a built in ability
To take everything she sees
And now it seems I'm falling, falling for her
She seems to have an invisible touch, yeah
She reaches in, and grabs right hold of your heart
She seems to have an invisible touch, yeah
It takes control and slowly tears you apart
Well I don't really know her, I only know her name
But she crawls under your skin
You're never quite the same, and now I know
She's got something you just can't trust
And it's something mysterious
And now it seems I'm falling, falling for her
She seems to have an invisible touch, yeah
She reaches in, and grabs right hold of your heart
She seems to have an invisible touch, yeah
It takes control and slowly tears you apart
She seems to have an invisible touch, yeah
She reaches in, and grabs right hold of your heart
She seems to have an invisible touch, yeah
It takes control and slowly tears you apart
Well she don't like losing, to her it's still a game
And though she will mess up your life
You'll want her just the same, and now I know
She has a built in ability
To take everything she sees
And now it seems I've fallen, fallen for her
She seems to have an invisible touch, yeah
She reaches in, and grabs right hold of your heart
She seems to have an invisible touch, yeah
