I had my amputation 1 yr and 4 months ago and there's no physical. Therapist or Prothesis person ever gone over any of thus with me I now have a serious bend in my knee and I don't think anyone cares. I do have medi- cal and didn't know which did what but now I'm in a difficult situation. The bend is causing me to not be able to walk without hunching over. I need help don't know who to turn to . Can you guide me in the right direction to the contracture in my leg, please? I'm desperate. Thank you,
    Gail Cessna

Please, i was electrocuted recently, and so, i had below knee limb amputation cos of it .Six months after the surgery, i went to the hospital for the prosthetics, but when i tried it on, i couldn't walk with it. Not even a single step, cos of the pain. I feel so much pain under the stomp and i don't know that to do. Please, is my weight suppose to rest on the the stomp, od between my knees?

For below knee you should be weight bearing on the petela tendon, just under the knee and on the reduced volume of walls of calf muscle on the back and outside. If pressure is on the end of your stump then your socket may now be too lose. Please go back to your prosthetist for a new fitting of socket. In the meantime you can purchase or ask the clinic for stump socks to increase size of your limb to make a tighter fit and a silicone sleeve for over the socket onto the skin for extra suspension.

Why didnt we hear from Don? The second half of the video was ostensibly about the patient’s experience, but he wasn’t interviewed. I found that very disappointing.

That's exactly why they put a video in the description bellow

Depends on the limb but a good fit is crucial and many seem to accept a second rate limb as they have no idea that a better limb may be available.
It tends to boil down the guy on the job imo rather than the practice.
    .
It is easy to have 3 from 3 different manufacturers and they are all of different sizes. and fits.
The communion excuse is "it is the correct volume"
That is a dumb ass statement I saw from a person at Oxford some years back to which I replied it could be the length of a smart tube to attain the same volume.
Another centre managed to trash a perfectly good socket when I specicicly told them not to touch the socket , jut repair the knee mechanics.
A 3rd private clinic decided to continue to manufacture something too small even given I kept telling them it was too small...
There are ways around systems to make it easier, but imo your best friend is someone that lives with the product, not the guy that is an amputee and gets paid to produce dodgy merchandise..
    .
If you cannot afford private, no worries, , it can be accessed for free once incompetence is proven which is seldom hard.
As for those seats with sh*t streaks they make you sit on in some clinics, that is a bit of a health issue one can use as a backup prior to getting things done properly prior. Not sure the seats are full of sh*t when you go in to make the initial complaint to the manager, , but stop by and pick one up on your way to the meeting, and be sure to request he sits on it for the duration of the meeting.

I think current prostheses are sometines really a pain. some issues that there are with them:
1- the liner causes sweating the stump (it may cause bad smell)
2- wearing them on for a long while feels bad to amputees (for example in work environments)
3- wearing the sock on and then the liner after that the socket really has a major impact on increasing the body temperature (espeially in tropical regions it's really annoying)
    ...
I think if we can kind-of remove the liner and reduce the size of the socket, it would be more tolerable for amputees :) in my opinion, it's the biggest help to all amputees of world

I'm sorry I had to claim bullshit I am a amputee and I wanted to go home with my test socket they said no we can't let you do that you might damage it get hurt so sorry I had to claim bullshit now I have my permanent socket it is too tight it hurts me when I walk I would have liked to take the test socket home'cause it's so hard to find out were it hurts when you gotta wear it all day long at work its so hard to tell in 15 to 20 minutes tops it is so hard to tell where its gonna hurt in that amount of time than wearing it all day long but the prosthetic places don't wanna be liable for you so don't believe what she says
