We have a version of this in the USA called Carling Black Label. It's apparently 5% ABV over here but it has the same watery, slightly citrus-y taste which makes me wonder if it's really even 5%. Over here the brand is almost unheard of. The string band clubhouse was practically giving them away for $1 per can and it was surprisingly drinkable, if generic. Beats Michelob Ultra or Bud Light at least.
You 're right it doesn't try to jump off the shelf, but over time I learned to respect its minimalistic cover. It's a classic. I don't agree that it just does the job. It's got more to it than that. I like it more than Stella Artois for example. Always enjoy it with a meal . It is Carling and very English.
I used to drink this lager a lot back in my late teens and early twenty's but since I started drinking five per cent lagers, Carling just tastes to weak now to me but I agree it's still better than that bud-light crap from the states. I've just subbed to your channel btw.

Hi if I pour half a pint of Carling into a pint glass then top rest up to a pint using water will I reduce the percentage to 2% ? I'm only allowed to drink low abv like Mann's ale and Skol, Morrisons bitter etc so I am looking for a way to reduce the strengh so I have more options

Carling wouldn't even be in the running
I just gave my opinion buddy. Pabst & Bud Light for me are flavourless. Carling is bad but had more than the other two.
@@paulsbeerreviews Try Luminous Lights New England IPA out Lidl got two cans its really good from Dundee
Stay away from the coconut one though that was really bland
@@paulsbeerreviews Bud Light isn't that good
I drink Miller genuine draft if I am going down the yank beer route its my favourite American beer lovely creamy beer made by Staropramen in the Czech Republic
It tastes like piss and dirty washing up liquid water mixed together absolutely worst beer of all time
Horrible larger, it’s dull dishwater drink with a very unpleasant aftertaste. I am not a snob with drinks but Carling is just generic larger.
I know someone who owns Bishop Nick Brewery and would love to see you review the beer. There are plenty of real ale options and some other canned beers for sale. If you go onto the website or follow them on Instagram or Facebook, I’m sure that they would be delighted for you to check it out
They actually sent me some beer last year (the canned range) which I happily reviewed for them.
Lovely beers too
