Stereolab were one of the first groups I saw at a very young age, I still recall the show, as I my mind was blown, everyone seems to overlook Andy Ramsey's killer motorik drumming, he was a very important part of the Stereolab sound in my opinion.

Stereolab are one of the finest (and criminally overlooked) bands of all time. Loved them from day one... and still do.
Along with Broadcast and The Fall, they’re timelessly evocative, creative and compelling.

Stereolab and the Fall , that is a dream lineup in a small intimate club.

I totally agree. They are maybe my favourite band of all times. Stereolab were firstly GREAT music listeners, so their music has no limits... You may find krautrock, bossa nova, jazz, easy listening, songwriting... Of couse keeping their own identity. Also, let's not forget the amazing lyrics.

Just discovered this. What a great video a " minimalist" Stereolab but what great songs . Saw them in SF on the last tour Mary played. Such a brilliant show . I miss Mary

I only got into Stereolab about 3 years ago, my loss for not having seen them in their early years, but as a big Fall, Velvets and Wire fan, l have to say this is ACE! I’m 60 now and pretty disillusioned with much I’ve heard recently and then I discovered this......👌

Well I'm 69 and just getting into them now (2024) Never too late. I still find good new music today. Have to look harder but musical art is being made all the time.

I loved this band all my adult life and when I finally saw them live in Manchester I had a stroke at the gig.
I’m still in recovery but getting back to normal bit by bit. X

@@naughtyplanet yeah, I had the door staff take me out and my partner zoomed me back home and waiting for an ambulance I fell downstairs and broke my collarbone. My coordination is shot but as an artist, I had to work hard to handle my scalpel.
I’ve recently seen a live version of Lo Boob and it scared the bejaisus out of me as that track was when the band appeared to be iridescent and floated around me.

I saw them in 1999 in Germany @ the Southside Festival. There was bad weather since many days. Stereolab played on a side stage covered with a big tent.
As it started hard raining again, many people from the main stage moved to side stage and filled the tent. Minutes before there were not many people as the started to play, what a shame.
They played amazing. And loud, so pure.
I stood in the first row, no barriers. Only Stereolab in front of me.
    what a gift !
I can remember they gave admission with 'lo fi' in a approx. 30 minutes version.
It blew my head away. mixed with countless Hashpipes I couldn't grasp to have that all in the first row.
One of the most intensive moments in my life.

I went to SJSU, and seeing a SJSU t-shirt in a Stereolab vid is the last thing I ever expected to see.

That was the period with Duncan Brown on bass and Katherine Gifford on keys. Great line-up, though the best line-up for me was with Richard Harrison on bass and Morgane Lhote on keys (on Emperor Tomato Ketchup, Florescences EP and Dots and Loops) along with core members Tim Gane, Laetitia Sadier, Mary Hansen and Andy Ramsey.
