  • Thanks to Lito for the sample of Talisker 18! Also, yes I know I pronounced "maritime" as "merry-time" - I guess I've never said that one out loud haha!
    GLASSES I USE:
Stolzle Lausitz 6.5oz Whisky Nosing Glass (primary drinker, short stem)
*Bennuaine Whisky & Spirits Glass (fancy & expensive, long stem)
Luigi Bormioli 5.75oz Vinoteque Snifter (cost-effective long stem option)
Aged & Ore Neat Glass (for casual drinking, stemless)
    *denotes used in this video

Love both but the Talisker 18 is outstanding for me. Love it! Elegant yet powerful, love the bourbon and sherry influences, coffee, peat! Definitely a BBQ peat! Very dense and richly delicious. Perfection! The 18 is more expensive in Canada and so is the 10 but all whisky is. I think it's beautifully complex and worth the money. I don't mind spending a lot on scotch. I am not closely as in love with Bourbon or Rye. Older peated scotch hasn't always had a darker peat like BBQ. But I think it's fairly common. I prefer more peat usually but Talisker makes delicious scotch! I also very much enjoy the 10!! The coastal influence pulls me in - always! I love peated scotch all year!! Great comparison video! Cheers! 🙂

For spring mowed grass, think of a Lowland Scotch. Try Auchentoshan, Glen Kinchie, Bladnoch, Lindores, Lochlea, Kingsbarns. (the newer ones though in Ohio are going to be tough to find) For spring a wake up bright Scotch would be something like Glencadam 10, Arran 10, maybe AnCnoc 12, any Glen Grant or Clynelish.

For real. I lucked out finding one last month at the $140 price. It was the newest edition (some say not as good as the old box/version) but it sure beats paying upwards of 200 that some places currently have it for.

I was lucky to find a lone box/bottle of Talisker 18 at a sales event for just 105 USD! (Normally around 140-170 USD in my area) Did not disappoint & worth every penny. One of the best scotches I've had. I like the light touch of peat on it since I don't like overly peated stuff.

Was at Talisker 2 weeks ago and was told that they are running short on well aged stock, so Talisker 18 may not be available for a few years. Allegedly they even recalled the 18 year bottles in Europe back to the distillery so they have some to sell on site. Just sharing what I was told by staff…do what you want with the info. I’m gonna grab a backup just in case.

Great comparison, Cam. I've tried Talisker 10 and Storm, and enjoy both. Never tried the 18, so this was useful. I'm curious what you'll think about Loch Lomond 18. The price on it is fantastic and it has a wonderful rugged funk that I love. You'll even find store picks of Loch Lomond which can be absolutely glorious at a high abv. Cheers.

@@DrumsAndDramsYou're absolutely right! March 1st. I watched and liked that video. But because it had a mysterious title, I didn't notice it when I went back through your list. Glad you liked it and you even mentioned the funk in the description. If you've never had a store pick of this, I would be happy to send you one.

Pretty sure 48.5% is a typo. Should be 45.8% like the 10-year and most Talisker core bottlings.

I just recently did Talisker 18 vs a friends sample of the Distillers Edition. The DE being non-age stated shined upfront with it's hit of impactful cask driven flavors. The 18 initially feels softer (similar to you going from the 10 directly to the 18) but giving the 18 time to stretch it's legs, it becomes the more satisfying sip over the long haul.
Have you tried the Port Charlotte exploratory casks samples against the PC18 yet? I sent you the PMC and PAC and I think you mentioned you had an SC:01 from another friend of the channel. Maybe next live... 😉
    Thanks for the review Cam.

Great review, Cam! Given that you are a big fan of those coffee and dark chocolate flavors, are you a fan of Chattanooga Whiskey's products?
