Hah - what a coincidence - bought this in the airport just a week ago, and drank (a lot of) it on a trip to the mountains with Scottish friends. Went down a storm. Delicious. And a beautiful bottle.
If you like cognac cask I highly recommend the Port Charlotte CC:01 travel exclusive that started the naming scheme adopted by the cask exploration series. Needed some serious oxidisation though
Nice review. Talisker is not a brand I usually enjoy but I loved this bottle and it has inspired me to give Talisker another go. It got released as a club release with The Whisky Club in Australia and think it was well received.
Sipping one as I watched the review. Your tasting notes are bang on, and it had opened up a lot since I last tried it. Loads of salted peaches and apricots, with a hint of smoke and stone. Delicious!
I Just found it for 52€ and I couldn't resist. The first Talisker I bought was the Port Ruighe and I really liked it, hope this is even better. Great reveiw as always G.
Loved the review! This was Geoff at his best! That Parley really got you going my friend 😁 Already added it to my ever growing list. Thanks for the great review again! Enjoy your week 🥃🥃
Funny, Friday an application that is offering great deals proposed this talisker. I ordered it. I'm testing as I write this message. I must say I'm really not desapointed! Really great and tasty. I'm happy that I saw your video the day before. I would never have bought this whisky. Merci pour la vidéo. Cheers
Glad you like it, buddy. I wouldn't have bought it either without a recommendation from the Whisky Enthusiast channel. Absolutely love it now. Bought two backups! 🥃
Hi Geoff, great review You convinced me, I will add this one to my wish list. And again your edit skills are demonstrated to top level Let de coastal whiskies reign 🤣
Finally got around to this one, and you were right…it’s pretty impressive. I held off because Just Whisky said it’s no better than the 10. No, sir. Also, grabbed the Bowmore Vault Edition final,y and have been very impressed with that one too. Lloniannau!
Fun review as always and glad that you enjoy this one. I will pick it up the moment it arrives here. I think you are most responsible for me re-considering Talisker. Cheers!
@@Gwhisky Absolutely! @8:57, speaking of Serge, WhiskyFun gave it a glowing review and scored it 89 so I'm looking forward to trying it. Thanks for your recommendation too!
Whoa, kinda caught off guard by such a positive review. As a guy who loves Talisker but had begun to move on, I definitely feel like I need to try this before I go out the door. Cheers Geoff
Nice Review. Wish I saw this in my local market here in the US. Huge fan of Talisker (old label). New label 10 is still good enough to occasionally stock but the old label was a good 5 points better.
Love the T 10, SKY and Storm can be good value if I can get the price drop right at the local supermarket. Sadly this year is about finishing off those half filled bottles and not going on a crusade of F+F bottles or indiesb but will have an eye out for something I want ( no longer need ). Keep them coming Geoff, they are something to look forward to.
On instinct I bought this at the Edinburgh airport Duty Free, best purchase I’ve made in a long time, thoroughly enjoying it, but sadly it’s almost gone! I’ve made inquiries as to what to replace it with because here in the US it’s not available 😢
Thank you for another lovely review. Which Talisker would you pick from the regular line? 10YO, Skye, Storm, Port Ruighe... I used to be so impressed by the Dark Storm, travel retail release, and now having 10YO after that, feels like a little disappointment.
Nice one Geoff, that's a high score and I completely agree with it. It's not your typical Talisker but it is beautiful. The most it reminded me of was the Port Ruighe which I also love. Cheers!
I last had it a very long time ago. I remember I wasn't impressed at the time, although I should probably come back to it and see if I still feel that way. Cheers. 🥃
I agree with you, I do like Talisker as a brand and have mixed feelings towards Diageo. Although I was not happy with the rebranding (design), beats Glenmorangie 😂
I was tempted and still im to buy this one and after your review Goeff im so close to pull the trigger. P.S. Serge really praise this Talisker and gave it good opinion at Whisky Fun. Cheers 🥂🙋🏻♂️
This review landed just after the bottle was on offer for £45 at Jeff's place. Immaculate timing. Thanks a bunch Geoff. 😉 [Tbf it's about £55 now so cheaper than other online retailers...I'm resisting]
Geoff watch out for those Canadian Polar Bears 🐻❄️ 😂 When will Diageo stop mitting their falbstaff 😮. Sounds tasty for sure but I will stick to the T10. Still have an 18 which I picked up at less than half what they are asking today, back in 2021. This were the days. Thanks 🙏 ciao 👋 S.
Canadian! I knew it! we can pick out our own. Would like to hear your thoughts on the bunnahabhain canasta cask, heard its got some fairly old whisky in it, which is not the norm for a nas.
Thanks for reviewing Geoff. Not taste this one (in fact never seen it), so no comment from me this tme. In the meantime I'll pour myself a non Diageo IB (bourbon maturred, NCF and NC of course) Slàinte mhath
I wonder if, since it's not in the core range, they'll have a continuation of the theme and do a different one each year. I look forward to your review of the upcoming Cilanro release, or would it be Corrianer? Maybe Arugua? Anyway, my spell check is on fire thanks to this joke, so I'm gonna go put that out now...
I love the 10 but after trying the Port Ruighe and disliking it I haven't been keen on trying out their other stuff. If I see this or the Surge I think I will give it a shot. Too bad that the 18 is so out of my price range but oh well.
Yeah Talisker's older stuff is exceptional but it really isn't worth recommending at the current price point. I wasn't a big fan of the Port Ruighe, either. Hopefully you can find this and enjoy it! 🥃
talking about what other whisky you could review. i dont think you've done Blue Spot yet? i could be wrong. And then the inevitable Blue Spot VS Redbreast 12 CS VS John Lane CS =)
I'd love to, but sadly Blue Spot and John's Lane CS are nowhere to be found in my market. I'll keep a lookout for both when I'm out of country, though. 🥃
Unfortunately, I cannot source this particular one in my market. But, I can choose between the 10 year-old, or the storm. The 10 year old is $10 more than the storm. Is it worth it? $50 versus 60
Sounds amazing. Does it have the "cheese" taste (if you know what I mean by that)? I liked the Talisker I tasted before, but not the cheese element of it. So I haven't continued trying their lineup after that
Thanks for this review Geoff. I love Talisker, especially the old 10yo label, but I've stuck with this one version for too long. And unfortunately, I have to complain about a loss of quality, of maturity, in favour of a more medicinal and briny profile. Even the new labels have become very ugly, betraying the old classic and easily recognizable style, for a cartoonish style, with those horrible orange or, even worse, purple inserts, perhaps created to attract the younger generations. I was never convinced by the new bottlings like Skye, Storm, Surge, etc. because they lack transparency and I have never understood what differentiates one version from another. This Talisker x Parley Wilder Seas, after your convincing review, seems much more interesting to me, and a valid alternative to the 57° North which I was never able to get as it is out of production. I will never buy the 18yo instead, unless they suddenly discount it, as they did with the Lagavulin 16yo, which I got for 68 euros on Amazon.it, while in supermarkets it still costs above 100 euros.
Sipping this right now, the extra ABV to me makes zero difference to me on the palate compared to the standard 45.8 on most Taliskers. Pleasing Talisker for sure though.
Thanks for the review! I'll be at Frankfurt airport in a week, and this bottle (among other Taliskers) is in duty free for 78 euros. A must for my purchase! Shalom to Taiwan from Israel!
I love the use of the word ‘fancy’!
Great review Geoff. So much so that I’ve ordered a bottle. £45 down from £75 in the Amazon spring sale! Slainte!

Refreshingly honest whiskey review ..
In my book, the best Talisker is 50/50 57 North and the 18-year. Try it! Makes a beautiful dram 😉
Bet that works well. Sadly I don't have any of the 57 North left... 🥃
